"To Be A Follower Of Christ"
Elder Alfred Kyungu
Of the Seventy
The second quality of the Savior is courage. When I think of Jesus Christ at the age of 12, sitting in the temple of God among the doctors of the law and teaching them divine things, I note that He already had, very early in His life, a good sense of courage, a particular courage. While most would expect to see the young boy being taught by the doctors of the law, He was teaching them as "they were hearing him, and asking him questions" (Joseph Smith Translation, Luke 2:46, footnote c).
"Hold Up Your Light"
Elder Marcus B. Nash
Of the Seventy
You see, you and I know that we lived as children of our Heavenly Father before coming to this earth and that the earth was created for the purpose of giving each person the opportunity to obtain a body, gain experience, learn, and grow in order to receive eternal life - which is God's life. Heavenly Father knew we would suffer and sin on earth, so He sent His Son, whose "matchless life" and infinite atoning sacrifice make it possible for us to be forgiven, healed, and made whole.
To know these truths is life changing! When a person learns the glorious purpose of life, comes to understand that Christ forgives and succors those who follow Him, and then chooses to follow Christ into the waters of baptism, life changes for the better-even when the external circumstances of life do not.
Prayer 17
I had a dream last night. It was rather convoluted as my dreams usually are. I was visiting my parents old friends Betty and Everett Oglesvie. Kim, Brian, Sheri, and Alex were there. Kim and Brian said they had lived in Washington for 8 days. There were lakes and waterfalls. I'm not sure what the purpose or message of this dream was.
I made blueberry pancakes and bacon for breakfast. After breakfast I read Elder Bednar's recent conference talk, "With the Power of God in Great Glory." It is so much more powerful and penetrating when you read a talk rather than listen to it. I took lots of notes which I will take with me to the lesson on Sunday. BTW, I loved this talk!
James called the MacArthur's today and asked them if we could buy some eggs from them. Jarred said if we wanted to buy eggs he would charge us $2. Jarred said they were going to town and would bring us some eggs on the way out. When Jarred came to the door James handed him $5 and he handed James 30 eggs. He said he owed us some money and James just laughed.
I got my Ka'chava today. The bag contains 15 servings which means you would need two bags a month or four if you had two meals a day of the powder. One meal a day would cost about $5 a serving. That is too much. I emailed the company and told them to please cancel my monthly order and told them why.
James had to order a new phone. The LED broke. Asurian, the insurance company said they would send a new phone to our house tomorrow.
James and I finished "A Blind Eye" and started a new book, "The Secret of the India Orchid." I also watched "Baby, It's Cold Inside", a Hallmark movie about the ice hotel in Canada.
Tamara got her wallet stolen when they went to the valley to take Ty to the airport. She is pretty bumbed and I don't blame her. I remember when mine got stolen when we took Jared to the Salt Lake airport for his mission.
I indexed this evening.
James says this is the time of year that the rams can be seen together.
People have certainly posted a lot of pictures recently.
