Jesus Christ, Messiah
Moses 6:52
And he also said unto him: If thou wilt turn unto me, and hearken unto my voice, and believe, and repent of all thy transgressions, and be baptized, even in water, in the name of mine Only Begotten Son, who is full of grace and truth, which is Jesus Christ, the only name which shall be given under heaven, whereby salvation shall come unto the children of men, ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, asking all things in his name, and whatsoever ye shall ask, it shall be given you.

'The Exquisite Gift Of The Son'
Elder Matthew S. Holland
Of the Seventy
Alma said everything started to change the moment his "mind caught hold upon" the prophesied "coming of one Jesus Christ ... to atone for the sins of the world" and he "cried within his heart: O Jesus, thou Son of God, have mercy on me." With that one thought and that one plea, Alma was filled with "exquisite" joy "as exceeding as was his pain."

"The Culture of Christ"
Elder William K. Jackson
Of the Seventy
Those things to which we are exposed by the cultures we grow up in can serve as a great strength in our lives, it can also, at times, become a significant obstacle.
It may seem that culture is so heavily embedded in our thinking and behavior that it is impossible to change. It is, after all, much of what we feel defines us and from which we feel a sense of identity. It can be such a strong influence that we can fail to see the man-made weaknesses or flaws in our own cultures, resulting in a reluctance to throw off some of the traditions of our fathers. An overfixation on one's cultural identity may lead to the rejection of worthwhile - even godly - ideas, attributes, and behavior.

Restoration Proclamation

As a companion scripture to the Bible, the Book of Mormon testifies that all human beings are sons and daughters of a loving Father in Heaven, that He has a divine plan for our lives, and that His Son, Jesus Christ, speaks today as well as in days of old.

James left for the valley this morning. Before he left he fed Luna. Later I was standing at the kitchen window and I saw Luna walking on the road towards our house. She came to the front porch and stopped. I couldn't resist. I grabbed a bag of baby carrots and took them out and dropped some of them on the bottom step of the front porch. She came over and ate them and I talked to her and stroked her neck. It's these little things that I love so much.

James had to put air in his tire before he left. On the way home he had a flat tire. I guess he needs to get the tire fixed when he gets home.

I finished watching a movie James and I started yesterday. It is an old movie but one of my very favorites. It is set in the 1800's in Ireland and is about a young adult woman traveling with her grandmother around the world. The girl wants to be a writer so the grandmother takes her to Shannon Castle to meet the Earl of Shannon who is a famous writer. Tilly, the young woman is engaged to Gad but become enamored with Cameron Shannon, the Earl's son. It is a story about human nature, forgiveness, and the importance of family. I think I will watch it again with James when he gets home.
It is called: "An Old-Fashioned Christmas." Jacqueline Bissett plays the part of the grandmother.

Before I watched any more Christmas movies I studied the book of Ether with Ben Wilcox on "Teaching with Power." I learned some things and love his power point slides.

The next movie I put on while I was walking: "The Christmas Wish" starring Hillarie Burton. I enjoyed it but didn't classify it as a favorite.

I had nachos for lunch and then made a trip to Dollar General. I was going to go to the post office but then realized it wouldn't be open because today is Veteran's Day. I made my purchases at Dollar General and headed home. I guess because I was home alone today I figured I did not have to be accountable to anyone. This reminds me of something I read or rather listened to this week by Richard G. Scott. The talk was on how to receive revelation. The part that stuck out in my mind was when Elder Scott was talking about our family in the spirit world. He said they can see us and know us better than we know them. I know the Lord also sees me and knows me and loves me. We are always accountable.

I spent the afternoon watching movies and walking during the commercials. Here are the movies I watched:
"Sweet Mountain Christmas" starring Megan Hilty and Marcus Rosner
"Romance at Reindeer Lodge"
"Christmas in Tennessee" starring Rachel Boston and Andrew Walker

I fed Luna twice before James got home at 8. It was so muddy I couldn't reach her feed container without getting right in the mud so I emptied a container in James's shed and fed her in that. I poured the nails that were in this container into James's tool box. I will probably have to clean them our later.

When James got home he brought me a mixed burro from Burger House. Yum. I'm going to save it for breakfast since I had already eaten a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner. James wanted to walk and asked me to read to him while he walked around the table and kitchen. I read several chapters before we went to bed around 9:30.
