'Keep the Change'

Jesus Christ gives us much, much more than the value of what we can ever return to Him. So, what can we give to Him, who paid the incalculable price for our sins? We can give Him change. We can give Him our change. It may be a change of thought, a change in habit, or a change in the direction we are headed. In return for His priceless payment for each of us, the Lord asks us for a change of heart. The change He requests from us is not for His benefit but for ours. So, unlike the purchaser at the market who would take back the change we offer, our gracious Savior beckons us to keep the change.

Restoration Proclamation

Jesus Christ has once again called Apostles and has given them priesthood authority.

After our family prayer James left with Chuck to meet up on the mountain with Bishop Hunsaker, Sean his brother, and Brother Peeler. They are going to cut some wood and bring it back for the widow's woodpile. The entire ward was going to go but it was too muddy and bishop didn't want to tear up the forest.

I studied from my Redheaded Hostess handout for Ether 1-5 and listened to Unshaken with Brother Halverson for my gospel study this morning.

I started a new audio book today, "The Heart of Hampton House" by Anita Stansfield. I also worked on finalizing my weekly menus and making a file for the recipes. Here's what on the menu for this week:
Minestrone soup, chicken enchiladas, taco soup, pork chops and creamed spinach, ham and cabbage in the crockpot, and chicken with rice soup. We will be gone to the valley on Monday so nothing planned for that night. These dishes could even last through more than a week if we control ourselves when we eat.

When James got back from the woodcutting project he went outside to weld and then came back in and said it was too windy. He told me to get ready to go to town and we would leave before noon. I did and then I ended up waiting for him because he said the wind died down and he started welding. We left at 11:30.

When we got to Walmart I thought it was funny that a line of people were standing around the door. When I got out of the car where James was dropping me off a man behind me said, "Mam, the store is closed." When I asked why he said a fire, and it should open up again in about 30 minutes. James and I decided to go get some lunch at LaCasita. There were no available tables. I thought we would wait but James said no. He's always in a hurry. We went to Culver's instead. James was disappointed they didn't have green beans on the menu. He got a pot roast sandwich and asked for au jus. It was all fat so he didn't use it. I had a burger. It was ok.

Walmart was open when we got back so James dropped me off and went on to Home Depot and then to wash my car. He came back to Walmart to pick up my prescription and then help me at checkout. Why do I always feel like I'm in a war zone when I shop at Walmart?

So, if what I need is not on the shelf am I supposed
to unpack it myself?

On the way home I read from "Blackberry Crumble." After the groceries were unloaded and put away I went in and paid tithing online. When I was finished I went back in and made taco soup of dinner. It was a new recipe and very delicious. We ate our soup and watched "Christmas in Vienna." We also had hot chocolate and Pero. The perfect end to a good day.

A great night!
