"Miracles Of The Gospel Of Jesus Christ"
Elder Carlos G. Revillo Jr.
Of the Seventy
I testify of the reality of Jesus Christ and that He lives and loves each one of us. I know that His gospel can bring us hope, peace, and joy, not only now, but it will also bless countless others in future generations.
"Look Down The Road"
Elder Alvin F. Meredith III
Of the Seventy
I invite you to be intentional about "looking down the road" and increase your focus on those things that really matter. May we keep Christ at the center of our focus. In the midst of all the distractions, the things "in front of the hood," and the whirlwinds that surround us, I testify that Jesus is our Savior and our Redeemer and our Rescuer.

The was no snow when I first got up. I prayed and told Heavenly Father that Kim and Brian don't get to see snow very often and could he please send some snow like the forecast said so they could see snow. A few minutes later it started to snow. When I went into the family, living room Kim and Brian were sitting by the window watching it snow. They were so happy!
James got a $1,000 contract today from someone remodeling a garage. Also, Janis Willis called him today. She has been trying to get in touch with Armando to do some yardwork for her but he has not returned her calls. That's pretty much par for the course. James had a nice visit with her and at the end she told him to give me a hug. Reed, Janis's husband is in an assisted living facility. She visits with him and talks to him everyday. Dan, their son, is here visiting and she went with him to see Reed. She said she felt like she was going on a date.
At 1:15 I left to pick up Pat. James followed me in the truck. It was snowing and I was a few minutes late and Pat called me to make sure I was coming. James and I both drove into Show Low. James went to KFC to pick up the chicken that I ordered online. Pat and I went on to Aunt Gene's house.
Rita answers the door and I ask her if she knows who is with me. She has no idea. We had to tell her. When she found out who Pat was she gave her a big hug. Aunt Gene was in the bathroom and we had to wait a few minutes for her. She didn't know who Pat was either. Once we told her Aunt Gene told me this was the best surprise I could have given her. Pat, know as Patsy to Aunt Gene and Rita, was Aunt Gene's babysitter when her kids were very young. At one time they lived next door to each other and then Aunt Gene and Uncle Clair moved in to the big house that sat on the corner where Chase Bank is today.
Here are some of the things we talked about: Rita quilts. She also makes cakes and follows sugarandsparrowco. on Instagram. She shares this with me and I share cakebycourtney with her. Rita goes to AARA just as I do only she has a different doctor. She got RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) when she was 50. She was on methotrexate for awhile and then she stopped because she said it gave her leukemia. I did not know she had leukemia. Rita has a grandson serving a mission in Copon, Honduras. Copon is where the ruins are. We went there. Rita wants to buy a house in the valley to stay in during the winter. She said she looked at a tiny one for over $600,000. She wants one in Queen Creek where two of her boys live.
Rita also has a granddaughter who lives in Texas that has type I diabetes. I told her it was an auto-immune disease like RA. She said there was no way she was telling her granddaughter that she has diabetes because of her. I know how she feels. I don't want Max or Adam to think that they have diabetes because of my Rheumatoid Arthritis.
We talked about Sarah Slim picking a fight with me at high school and Rita sticking up for me telling her to never push her cousin again. Rita is on a low-carb diet because her blood sugars were too high. She has lost weight and now weighs less than 150 lbs. Aunt Gene weighs 110 lbs. Arlee's wife, Carol, who is Rita's sister-in-law, brought over some jicama wraps for her. I had one. It was okay but they were way too thin to use for taco shells. Carol said she was going home and would use the jicama wraps for buns and make a sesame burger. Aunt Gene had to stay with Arlee and Carol while Rita was gone to a quilting activity. She asked Rita, "Does this mean I have to eat Carol's cooking?"
Rita offered Pat and I some carrot cake and ice cream. She insisted because we were here for her mom's birthday. Aunt Gene said there were "a parade of people" coming through yesterday to wish her a happy birthday. She does have lots of friends. She has always been very outgoing and friendly.
After staying a couple of hours Rita got a call from Aunt Gene's doctor about the melanoma on her cheek. They don't want to do surgery so the doctor is prescribing a cream. We decided it was time for us to go. We hugged and said we would be back and then we left. On the way home Pat said, "I remember Arlee Reid had a nickname. Do you remember what it was? I thought for a minute and then as I looked at the smoke coming out of the smoke stack at the pellet factory, I said, "Smokey." Pat said, "Yes, that was it." The nickname was given to him by Grandpa Maxwell but I am not sure why. Pat said one night while she was babysitting that Gary, who was probably four or five, said to her, "Patsy, someday I am going to marry you."
Back at home I had some KFC and then rested and did some walking. Kim, Brian, James and I played 5 Crowns. Kim won and James lost. Brian and I tied for 2nd place.
I began running the beginner recipes off the cakebycourtney.com website. Kim worked on her puzzle. James did some indexing.
is not cooperating and I am pulling my hair out,
literally.
