And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent.

Thomas reminds us
that clinging to our belief in the Lord
will sustain us in moments of doubt
and bring peace in a world of uncertainty.

Up at 4:30. I got 3,000 steps before we left for the valley. We stop at Cat in Show Low so James could order something for the Cat. I walked outside while he was inside. We stopped at Burger King for a burger and then we of course went the Globe way because we are stopping in Globe at the Peeler's to take some measurements.
We got gas before going to the Peeler's which is on a hill and there are lots of steps going up to the house. I'm not sure how Donna is going to handle this. Maybe Owen will have to carry her. He is big and she is small and I'm sure she doesn't weigh much.
While James measured for new kitchen cabinets I did a lot of walking.
When we got to the valley we drove directly to the Chandler Hospital. Dawn called us when we were on the freeway wondering if we were coming. She said, "Mom is waiting for you." I told her we were almost there. She gave me details on how to find mom's room. The entrance is the same entrance for the maternity ward where several of our grandchildren were born. Mom's room number is 313 which was clear down at the end of the hall, the tiniest hospital room I have ever seen. Laura, who was there with her, said she thought they had converted a supply room into a patient room because there was a shortage of rooms. Mom was in a good mood and was very talkative. James talked with Laura and I talked with mom. Lois/Mom told me about a terrible noise that occurred last night while she was trying to sleep. She said it sounded like you were standing underneath a jet plane. It lasted for about 20 minutes or so before they figured out what it was and got it under control. Some other things we talked about: how horrible hospital food is, how uncomfortable the bed was the first couple of nights until they figured out it needed to be inflated. She is not to get out of bed unless someone is helping her. She showed me pictures of her rose garden and the roses are beautiful this time of year. She is worried about Dawn shouldering so much of the responsibility for her. Of course she asked how everyone in our family was doing. We had a very nice visit and then her lunch came and we decided it was time for us to go. Gail is in town and will come and see her this afternoon. It did my heart good to see her in such a happy state, especially after what she said to James on the phone the other day.
As we were walking out of the hospital we saw Diana Dowdle, a friend we've known for several years in Chandler, sitting in the waiting area outside of the maternity ward. Her only daughter, she has four sons, is in the hospital ready to deliver a baby any time.
We talked for a few minutes and then we were on our way. Here is Diana's daughter Deliah and her husband with their little baby girl:
We were hungry so we drove to Olive Garden for lunch. We had a $25 gift card. I ordered zuppa toscana soup with salad and breadsticks and James ordered chicken marsala. The last time he got chicken marsala at this Olive Garden it was so tough he couldn't eat it and that's when we were given this $25 gift card. The same thing happened this time and the waiter took the price for the chicken off of our bill. It is strange that this would happen two times in a row. I'm not sure he will order chicken marsala at this Olive Garden again.
I needed to get a birthday gift for Lanel Wilhelm who is turning 4 so James dropped me off at Target while he went to Home Depot to pick up some items he needs for the stall he is building for Luna. Sandra, Lanel's mom, told me she loves pink, purple, and gold. She also loves unicorns and mermaids. I found her a mermaid costume and a card with a unicorn on it. I finished shopping and went outside to see if James was waiting for me. He wasn't so I called him. He asked me if I could walk over to Costco and we could meet up there, so this is what I did. We always spend more money at Costco than we intend to. We bought pistachio's, walnuts, pomegranate juice, James bought some supplements and I bought a box of protein bars. I also got a case of toilet paper, avocados, and toothbrushes. Adam asked me to buy him a toothbrush and I forgot to get it at Target so I bought a package here at Costco with several brushes which cost $15.
We left Chandler and headed for Bass Pro Shop in north Mesa. Armando is waiting in the parking lot for James who has a check for him for the work he is doing in Scottsdale. It's not James's contract but the owner sent James Armando's money for reasons that are too convoluted to mention here. This guy buys houses fixes them up and sells them for a profit. James says he wants to do this. I've been trying to get him to do this for years!
James had some gift cards for Bass Pro so he went in to shop. I went in also, but just to walk, not shop. I sat by the fireplace for awhile but spent most of my time walking around this big store. I even saw the Easter Bunny!
least six foot tall.
James bought a $100 pair of shoes. He goes through so many shoes, he is always in need of a new pair.
We went through Payson on the way home and listened to our book most of the way. We got home around 8 p.m. Adam had already fed Luna. Thanks Adam.
I started listening to "Amazed by Grace," a book by Sheri Dew. Here are just a few notes I took.
Grace is the power that flows from the Atonement. It is a divine, enabling power. Faith unlocks the power of grace. Tender mercies are always evident when grace is present.
Finished walking and went to bed.
Not bad for being in a car
half the day.
Congratulations!
Sheri and Kim colored eggs today.
Sheri sent me this picture.
