So tonight, my dear brothers and sisters, in the spirit of the sons of Mosiah, who gave themselves to much fasting and prayer, and as part of our April 2020 general conference, I am calling for another worldwide fast. For all whose health may permit, let us fast, pray, and unite our faith once again. Let us prayerfully plead for relief from this global pandemic.
I invite all, including those not of our faith, to fast and pray on Good Friday, April 10, that the present pandemic may be controlled, caregivers protected, the economy strengthened, and life normalized.
I spent my early morning preparing for today's "Come Follow Me" discussion. Here were the main points of the lesson: 1.) The Lord will fulfill all His words. 2.) Forgetting spiritual experiences makes me vulnerable to Satan's temptations. 3.) The Lord strengthens His Saints against spiritual danger. 4.) I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.
This was the verse that stood out to me in this lesson:
3 Nephi 5:13
Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.
Our Sunday meeting was held at the Crane's today. It was supposed to be at the Goodman's but they had company. The Crane's small backyard is beautiful. The green grass is lined with a wall of rocks and there are flowers everywhere. It makes me want to get our backyard landscaped.
It was the Crane's, the Peeler's and us. We had a good discussion about the lesson and a side discussion about our ailments. I guess that's what old people do when they get together.
Kathy served us strawberry shortcake for dessert. She and Chuck both offered to take care of Luna for us while we were gone. We just don't want to put her in the corral all week and we don't want them to have to watch her and worry if she is going to wander off. Still, it was nice of them to offer. They really are such good neighbors.
We came home and had breakfast for lunch, hashbrowns, biscuits, sausage and eggs. Afterwards we had about an hours rest and then we went to Lakeside to visit my mom's grave. Today would have been her 90th birthday. I still miss her. The concrete James poured several years ago is starting to chip away and he says we need to redo it. Also Nannie and Grandpa's graves look very neglected. I guess every one is gone except us and Harold and Dennis.
The spindle in the front was from a bridge my
grandpa built. The brick is not supposed to be there.
James and I are determined to do something about this.
Back home James went outside to call Luna up because we are going to Facetime with Jared, Kacey, and Charlie. The last few weeks the first thing Charlie has asked for is to see Luna. Sure enough, that happened again today. I gave my phone to James as he went out to feed Luna. Charlie gets a kick out of seeing Luna eat.
Molly was just there for the holiday weekend last week but Tanner was there. Kacey has done a great job of going off sugar and soda. She says she feels so much better and she definitely looked good!
Jared taught his ward's Zoom "Come Follow Me" lesson this week and Kacey said he did a great job. He said it was the first time he has ever used power point.
Ben was on our Zoom Lambson Study Group call today. It was so good to see him and interact with him. Stacy didn't participate this week because she had things to do with Paul's family. We had a good discussion of the Saturday evening April conference addresses and everyone participated except for Kacey who was being "entertained" by Charlie and Tanner.
It was another beautiful Sabbath day. I could see the hand of the Lord in my life as I studied the gospel with family and friends. As I said my prayer tonight before going to bed I was overcome with feelings of gratitude for my sweet mother. She was such a blessing in my life and such a great example of love and sacrifice for her children and those she loved. I want to be like her.
