Jesus Christ, Divine Sonship
Matthew 27:43
He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
Book of Mormon
2 Nephi 12:1-13:5
*What are things you tend to idolize in our exciting day? What kind of idols did Isaiah see in verses 7 and 8?
New Testament "Come Follow Me"
Matthew 5:17-48; Luke 6:27-35 The law of Christ supersedes the law of Moses.

"Forgive, and ye shall be forgiven," Christ taught in New Testament ties. And in our day: "I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men." It is, however, important for some of you living in real anguish to note what He did not say, "You are not allowed to feel true pain or real sorrow from the shattering experiences you have had at the hand of another." Nor did He say, "In order to forgive fully, you have to reenter a toxic relationship or return to an abusive, destructive circumstance." But notwithstanding even the most terrible offenses that might come to us, we can rise above our pain only when we put our feet onto the path of true healing. That path is the forgiving one waled by Jesus of Nazareth, who calls out to each of us, "Come, follow me."

I woke up to the message that we sold another book; "The Indian Triology," the story of the Indian in the cupboard.

In other good news someone deposited $920 in my bank account. Good things to wake up to.

This quote from one of my Hallmark movies of the day, "Lucky in Love:" "It's how we rise to a challenge that defines us."

James and I split, hauled and stacked wood while it was snowing the morning. Snowmageddon is supposed to hit sometime tonight or tomorrow, depending on what part of the state you live in.

I came in from the wood project before James to start the Book Profits webinar. The news for the day is the group coaching, which I would love to do but it costs another $2,000. I would love to be a part of Kris and Kathy's group. Oh well, I guess we will spend out money on buying more books.

Tilapia for lunch. Score: James 3, Karen 1. We both loved it.

We went into town today to check the mail. A book James ordered came but the two books he ordered to trade to Amazon still haven't come and he is supposed to mail them by the 23rd. On the way home we stopped at the library to source some books. We had been working in the .10 cent room for probably 30 minutes when I changed positions and found just the kind of book we were looking for, a textbooks called Anatomy and Physiology. I scanned it and the low Prime price on Amazon was $42.95. Yipee! This made the entire trip worthwhile.

We were supposed to go to the temple today with the Howard's but they cancelled because of the snow. It is supposed to snow all afternoon and evening and they were afraid they would not be able to get back up their road home.

This evening we sold another book, "The Rosie Project." All of this selling is probably the result of James doing some re-pricing.

I inventoried several books this evening. We are selling the anatomy book for $40 and will make $25 if it sells. This is exactly the kind of book we needed.

This book is big...8x10 and about
2-3 inches thick.

Brian texted this evening and wanted to know how much snow we had. Right now it is minimal. He said there was 14" in Payson and 33" in Flagstaff. This storm is coming from the west and the brunt of it has not reached us yet.

Happy birthday Kathy. She worked in the temple
this afternoon. James went over this evening and
delivered some Hershey's hugs and kisses and
a card to her.

You can't tell in this picture but it was snowing.

 Our little cuties!

We actually sold 3 books today.

Jesus Christ, Crucifixion
Mark 15:13
And they cried out again, Crucify him.
Book of Mormon
Helaman 4:1-17
*The Nephites were left to their own strength because of wickedness. Why is it so important for us to remain worthy to have the Holy Ghost at all times?
- I need the peace that comes from living worthy to have the Holy Ghost with me. There is happiness, freedom and peace from just living the commandments, from not being physically enslaved to poor choices. There is an actual physical comfort from having the Holy Ghost with me.

"It seems to me that we receive the Holy Spirit best when we are focused on serving others. That is why we have the priesthood responsibility to serve for the Savior. When we are engaged in service to others,we think less about ourselves, and the Holy Ghost can more readily come to us and help us in our lifelong quest to have the gift of charity bestowed upon us."

James left at six this morning to go elk calling. I stayed home to study and do my morning chores and blog. I listened to Song of Solomon even though President Kimball said we don't really consider it inspired scripture. Here's a verse that made me laugh. "Thy belly is like a field of wheat." I think these are Solomon's love notes to his wives.

I finished reading this month's Ensign and "The Christ Who Heals" today. I washed two windows, cleaned upstairs and changed the remainder of the beds that were used the last time we had company.

This afternoon James and I made a trip to town. He had to get something for a piece of equipment and I wanted to get some Halloween stickers from Dollar Tree and hamburger soup ingredients at Walmart. We got gas and read from "The Secret Keeper." A big surprise chapter and we are beginning, finally, to really love this book.

We weren't back very long before Kim and Brian arrived, and a few minutes later Darrel, Trina, Addy, Rowan, Ruby and Lola arrived, and the fun began!

My Little Ponies made their entrance and Lola asked me to play with her but then she asked if we could watch the movie "Brave." We went into the bedroom and Darrel had to help me set up the dvd player. We finally got it going. Soon Trina joined us and Ruby and Rowan went in and out several times as did James.

Rowan and James are planning on going out to call for elk around 5:30 in the morning so they went to bed pretty early.

My first Victoria Holt book, given to me
by my "Nannie."

Jesus Christ, Ascension
Luke 24:51
And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
Book of Mormon
3 Nephi 17:1-25
*Why do you think Jesus Christ told the people to ponder the things that He taught and to ask Heavenly Father for understanding? How often do you do this?
My answer: The dictionary says that ponder means to weigh mentally think deeply, deliberate, and meditate. Pondering is, in my feeling, a form of prayer. Pondering the things of God helps to keep us from becoming complacent in our approach to Him.
Elder Neal A. Maxwell explained the dangers of not regularly internalizing the gospel in our lives. "The worshippers at Rameumpton so ritualized their religion that they never soke of their God again until they had assembled themselves together a week later at the stand. (Alma 31:23) Note the contrast in how Jesus instructed His followers on this hemisphere. (3 Nephi 17:3)
See how the Master focuses on the family, on pondering, praying, preparing together! It should not surprise us, if we routinize our religion and do not assign the highest priority to the kingdom, that our hearts and minds will quite naturally drift to other things."

DC 1:17-18
17 Wherefore, I the Lord, knowing the calamity which should come upon the inhabitants of the earth, called upon my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and spake unto him from heaven, and gave him commandments;
18 And also gave commandments to others, that they should proclaim these things unto the world; and all this that it might be fulfilled, which was written by the prophets-

"We need to continually deepen our knowledge of and obedience to Heavenly Father. Our relationship with Him is eternal. We are His beloved children, and that will not change. How are we going to wholeheartedly accept His invitation to draw near to Him and thus enjoy the blessings He longs to give us in this life and in the world to come. Do we trust Him enough to abide in Him and walk with Him?

I spent  the morning making Frankenstein Rice Crispy treats. The prototype looked better than mine.

I made 32 of these babies and then we loaded up the car and left for the valley at 1:30 instead of noon.
We stopped at Arby's in Show Low so I could get a roast beef sandwich. James is fasting.

We drove straight to Stacy and Paul's to deliver their treats. Next we stopped at the Howard's and left them a dozen cookies. We also delivered treats to the Trezise's, Cathi and Colin, and Kim, Brian, and Joe. We then headed out to Darrel and Trina's. They were at a party in their bishop's backyard with lots of other ward members. Addy was with friends so she wasn't there. Rowan left right after we arrived to go trick-or-treating with friends. James broke his fast and had a couple of pieces of pizza before we left with Darrel, Trina, Ruby, and Lola to go trick or treating with some of their friends.

Lola was so cute. Whenever someone said anything about her being a cute little princess she would say: "I'm a unicorn."

I'm a Unicorn!

See my tail?

Ruby was Marinette from
The Miraculous Ladybug show

This is Rowan

As we were out trick or treating we got several offers for adult treats and beverages. My favorite house was one close to Darrel and Trinas. It looked like a ship and was playing pirates of the Carribean music along with a pirate, treasure chests, etc.

Trina's friends from Canada are opening an ice cream shop soon and it sounds pretty amazing!

Ruby walked with me after trick or treating to get my 10,000 steps.

Afterwards James and I went to Burger King and Fry's for some water and dinner. Really the best thing we had to eat this evening was the salad Trina made. It had spinach, chicken, pinions, olives, small tomatoes, feta cheese, corn, and avocado with Olive Garden dressing. It was delicious!

After the family all returned home we sat down to watch some Studio C Halloween sketches while the kids looked over their loot.

Lola kept taking one bite out of a piece of
candy and then moving to the next.

Ruby and Rowan.
Rowan got two whole Hershey bars that Addy
wanted to trade for, but he wasn't giving
them up.

I think Addy's pile was the biggest.

Back home in Vernon:
The Grapp children came trick or treating:

I left them six Frankenstein treats.
