Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
95th operating temple
Dedicated: 30 July 2000
By: James E. Faust

Jesus Christ, Crucifixion
Mark 15:13
And they cried out again, Crucify him.
Book of Mormon
Helaman 4:1-17
*The Nephites were left to their own strength because of wickedness. Why is it so important for us to remain worthy to have the Holy Ghost at all times?
- I need the peace that comes from living worthy to have the Holy Ghost with me. There is happiness, freedom and peace from just living the commandments, from not being physically enslaved to poor choices. There is an actual physical comfort from having the Holy Ghost with me.
Old Testament
Song of Solomon
General Conference
Inspired Ministering
President Henry B. Eyring
"It seems to me that we receive the Holy Spirit best when we are focused on serving others. That is why we have the priesthood responsibility to serve for the Savior. When we are engaged in service to others,we think less about ourselves, and the Holy Ghost can more readily come to us and help us in our lifelong quest to have the gift of charity bestowed upon us."

James left at six this morning to go elk calling. I stayed home to study and do my morning chores and blog. I listened to Song of Solomon even though President Kimball said we don't really consider it inspired scripture. Here's a verse that made me laugh. "Thy belly is like a field of wheat." I think these are Solomon's love notes to his wives.

I finished reading this month's Ensign and "The Christ Who Heals" today. I washed two windows, cleaned upstairs and changed the remainder of the beds that were used the last time we had company.

This afternoon James and I made a trip to town. He had to get something for a piece of equipment and I wanted to get some Halloween stickers from Dollar Tree and hamburger soup ingredients at Walmart. We got gas and read from "The Secret Keeper." A big surprise chapter and we are beginning, finally, to really love this book.

We weren't back very long before Kim and Brian arrived, and a few minutes later Darrel, Trina, Addy, Rowan, Ruby and Lola arrived, and the fun began!

My Little Ponies made their entrance and Lola asked me to play with her but then she asked if we could watch the movie "Brave." We went into the bedroom and Darrel had to help me set up the dvd player. We finally got it going. Soon Trina joined us and Ruby and Rowan went in and out several times as did James.

Rowan and James are planning on going out to call for elk around 5:30 in the morning so they went to bed pretty early.

My first Victoria Holt book, given to me

2 Nephi 30:1-18
Converted Gentiles will be numbered with the covenant people - Many Lamanites and Jews will believe the word and become delightsome - Israel will be restored and the wicked destroyed. About 559-545 B.C.
Alma 30
Korihor, the anit-Christ ridicules Christ, the Atonement, and the spirit of prophecy - He teaches that there is no God, no fall of man, no penalty for sin, and no Christ - Alma testifies that Christ will come and that all things denote there is a God - Korihor demands a sign and is struck dumb - The devil had appeared to Korihor as an angel and taught him what to say - Korihor is trodden down and dies.  About 76-74 B.C.

"And he went a little further and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.  Then, as I imagine, the distress grew even more severe, He pleaded a second time for relief and, finally, perhaps at the peak of His suffering, a third time. He endured the agony until justice was satisfied to the very last drop.  This He did to redeem you and me."

Sheri, Ben, Max, Evan, and Rowan came to sacrament meeting and sat with us.  Jackson Allen, Tom Howard and Sean Bowman were the speakers in sacrament meeting.  James helped pass the sacrament.  Sheri and the boys all left after sacrament meeting.
My lesson in Primary was on the organization of the Church.  These are the children in my class today: Colter, Curtis, Jace, Lianna, Sister Kuffer the new teacher for the class just older than mine, Talena, Zemira, Norma, a visitor, and Braxton who has never attended before.  Braxton kept asking if he could go home but he ended up staying the entire three hours.
My friend Diana was released today as the Young Women's President.  She was a great president but she has been in about three years so it was time.  Sister Allen was called as the new president.

Sheri finished the puzzle today:
I love it.

For lunch we fired up the grill and James cooked some hotdogs and hamburgers.  The hamburgers were delicious!
After lunch James, Sheri, Max and I played Five Crowns.  We also watched some Hallmark movies: The Lost Valentine, The Locket, and Love and Duty.  We had pork chops and applesauce for dinner.  Yummy.

Sheri walked to Chocolate Lake this afternoon:

This is the best Chocolate Lake has looked in years!

This is a picture of Sheri and the boys reading scriptures this evening:

Ian came in and surprised us with this outfit:

He would fit right in living in Vernon.

Fun Photos:

Evan looks like he's asleep but believe me
this kid can eat.

I love Mother Teresa!

I paid our credit card on my phone today.  There are some aspects of modern technology that I really love!

James and I read 1 Nephi 14:9-30 today.  The only problem is, James can't hear!  He has always had one bad ear and now his good ear is bad.  I got him a cheapy hearing device at Walmart and it helps a little but he says the background noise is too loud.

Sheri sent us a link today on youtube about the DNA of some American indian tribes and linking them back to the Jews.  It was very interesting.

My visiting teaching partner, Corrina Westbrook texted and ask if we could postpone visiting teaching until next week because she is sick.  I have appointments with Hailey Chaffin and Elida Pope for tomorrow.  I told her I would go ahead and see Hailey and Elida and she and I could visit Claire and Jean next week.  She agreed.  I need to see Hailey this week because she is teaching my Primary class and I need to take the materials to her.

James and I went into town today to deposit a check and to pick up a prescription for James.  I read to him from our book "Lord Fenton's Folly."  He can't hear very well so I had to read loud.  We also washed our car and got the oil changed at Walmart.  I got a cheeseburger and drink at Sonic but James held out for the stew at home.  It really didn't do us any good to wash our car because of the mud on the last couple of miles of our road.

This afternoon I took a nap on the recliner, and worked on my blog.  I also read from "More Than the Tatooed Mormon."

This evening James and I watched "A Ring by Spring."
