Temple #190.
I got up at 3am. I weighed, took my thyroid, read from the Book of Mormon, and had my prayers. I prayed for a broken heart and a contrite spirit. At 4am I read from Psalms 146-50 "Praise ye the Lord." I also read "Living by Scriptural Guidance" by President Nelson from the OGC 2000 and "The Prodigal and the Road That Leads Home" by President Uchtdorf from the OGC 2023.
We started our new meeting schedule today at church. Instead of rotating and having Sunday School on the first and third Sundays and Relief Society/Elder's Quorum on the 2nd and 4th Sundays, we have everything every week with 5 minutes breaks between classes. The classes are designed to be 25 minutes long.
In Sunday School we watched a video featuring Elder Bednar and Elder Kearon. There was also a question on the board for us to answer. I shared Charlie's favorite scripture as I did not share it when I bore my testimony in sacrament meeting. Her favorite scripture is 3 Nephi 11:14 - Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world.
I wore my black skirt with a black polka-dotted top and I sat next to Kim and Tina Allen. Tina had on a black polka-dotted dress. Some people called us twins.
We watched a video featuring President Camille Johnson, the General Relief Society President. After the video we had a discussion about things we liked in Relief Society. Paula says she liked it when we used to sit in a circle. Yikes! Please don't bring that back. Lynda Finnell made a comment about the upcoming ward campout. She is concerned that all the men are planning for breakfast is biscuits and gravy. She petitioned the women for eggs. Janna offered 18.
When we got home Samii told me she really liked my outfit. That was so nice of her. The group is playing Headbanz yet again. It's the only game they have played since they have been here. Here were the names today: Dallin - Raoul from Phantom; Samii-Matthew Merger; Jazmin-Louie Armstrong; Michael-Bob the Builder; Xan-Aretha Franklin; April-Kendrick; Joe-Paul Bunyon.
Michael and I planned the two dinners, the one for last night and the one for tonight. I made a big pot of chili. Kim helped me. Michael and James made a cobbler. It was apple and it was delicious!
We had chips or leftover rolls to go with the chili. Towards the end of dinner while everyone was still seated at the table, I told them I wanted to talk to them. I went around and said something that I appreciated about each one of them. I talked about Samii and her 13 cats and how I thought about the kind of person who would care for 13 cats. I said that she has my heart. I also talked about how she helped in the kitchen for over 3 hours yesterday. Just briefly here are some other things I shared: Xan - I want to help save trees and sent me $80. Jazmin - An avid listener when James was telling his Pete the Crow story. Michael - Helped me plan, cooked our steaks, it was his idea that we do this. April - Willing to do anything we asked her to do. Shared her sweet little dog Skippy with us. Joe - Spent hours researching a cream that would help with my arthritis and sent me a bottle. It is amazing! Dallin - Showed me colored lights, always helped me when he was a young boy. Kim - Such an amazing help to us since she has come to stay with us. It was such a thoughtful thing to do and we are so grateful. Last but not least, James. I said he was the person who had helped me the most in this life and had taken care of me for 58 years. Now I want to be able to take care of him and that is why I am investing in the stock market. It was a good thing that I did and I got several hugs afterwards. April volunteered to do the dishes but I told her that Kim and I would do them, which we did.
James expressed his love for me too.
Our friend Bob Hipps has dementia and Parkinsons disease. So sad. Such a great person.
We fasted for Tanner today and I bore my testimony in sacrament meeting.
"I am certain that the payment of tithes and offerings will enhance our spiritual capacity as we put God first."
- Elder Jorge T. Becerra
