Neil L. Andersen
"President Gordon B. Hinckley introduced 'The Family: A Proclamation to the World' with this statement:'With so much of sophistry that is passed off as truth, with so much of deception concerning standards and values, with so much of allurement and enticement to take on the slow stain of the world, we have felt to warn you.'
The proclamation begins: 'All human beings - male and female - are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny.'
These are eternal truths. You and I are not an accident of nature."

I sent in the locksmith receipt to Liberty Mutual. Actually I lost the receipt but I sent in a copy of my credit card statement with the locksmith charge on it. Hopefully they will accept it and give me my $50 back.

My left eye and forehead is still swollen and red.

I got a text from Max today thanking me for the birthday card. In the card I told him I was sorry but I have had to cut down on the amount of money I send. I'm grateful that he texted me a thank you because I have felt terrible about having to do it. I wish I could do more for each family member to let them know how much they are loved and appreciated.

We sold another book today. One book at a time.

I worked on books, walked, paid more bills and fixed myself a burger for lunch. I would have fixed one for James too but he seems to think they aren't healthy and doesn't want one. They may  not be healthy but they sure taste good.

These are today's Christmas movies:

"Christmas Magic"
"Christmas Detour"
"Christmas Journey"

The last one James and I watched together. James loved it. He said I don't usually like Candace Cameron Bure but I really liked her in this one. It's about a girl from the 40's who time travels to 2016 and is able to see the affect her life had on the future. It's a good one and one of my favorites!

 Over 110 in Phoenix.
Think snow!

Such a cute little southern belle!

I love that you can see mama in the background.

One of my favorites, both the movie and the guy!

 From this....
To this. What a difference
 five years make!
Working on earning money for college!

 This girl enjoys life!

Very curious!

 They should hire!

My husband left for the valley this morning, so I went shopping at
Walmart by myself.
Another beautiful 65 degree day here in Vernon and Show Low.  I enjoyed my shopping trip into the Walmart in Show Low.  I bought a calculator for James, a trash can with a lid, a dish drainer, and some tree decorations.  I get back after dark and miss going to the monthly Relief Society activity.
 I love President Monson!

Today I paid bills and also found time to watch a couple of Christmas movies: "Once Upon a Holiday", and the other shall remain unknown because I didn't write it down before I erased it.

An upstairs view of our tree and fireplace
A closeup view of the tree.
I slept on the recliner tonight after watching my Christmas movies.

Fall break and Darrel and his family
are at Disneyland!  It's Lola's first time.

Stacy, Paul, Michael, and Joshua are
at the Grand Canyon.
Michael is awesome!

Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law
Vickie!
She is 64 today.
James cleaned the truck for me today so I could take Kilee Hunsaker to lunch.
He cleaned it both inside and outside.  It hasn't been this clean since  it was brand new!
It looked like it was going to rain any minute so I took a rain jacket with me when I picked up Kilee.  We drove in to Pinetop to eat lunch at El Rancho.  As we were driving through Pinetop it looked like it had snowed, but it was actually hail.
Sunrise got quite a bit of snow in this storm.
After lunch I dropped Kilee off at the downtown chapel where she went shopping with her friend Hannah Borrego.
When I got home I worked on my blog and paid bills.  It rained the rest of the day and in to the night.
James worked on income taxes all day long.  He has until the 15th to finish.

This evening we made sandwiches for dinner and watched a Hallmark movie called, "A Gift of Miracles."  It was a good one.

Vernon friends: Lynda Tanner, Sean Hunsaker
and Lorraine Vaught

"Your beliefs don't make
you a better person,
your behavior does."

I wanted to go on a Razr ride this morning but when we went out to the garage I noticed that one of the back tires was flat.  We went out on the porch instead.  While I read, James clipped and painted my toenails.  He's a keeper!

Bishop Miller's wife Ann gave birth to a baby boy this morning:
They named him Uriah Ellis Miller
Bishop's mother Debbie holding Uriah
while big sister Andyn looks on.
Andyn and Uriah
Katherine and Uriah
Hyrum and Uriah
Congratulations to the Miller family!

It rained most all afternoon and into the night.  James got a text and a picture from Paul of Oregon.  His wife Janelle got her elk.
 Janelle and her elk
Here is the elk she originally wanted but missed.  Someone else got him.
He's a big one!
I think both of these elk were shot near Nutrioso.
Paul asked James if he wanted some salmon that they caught in Oregon.  Of course he does!  We met Paul on the highway between here and Springerville.  James stood out in the rain and talked to him for several minutes.  I hope he doesn't get sick.  Thanks for the salmon Paul.

James worked on income taxes most of the afternoon.  He has to have four years of taxes done before October 15th.  I worked on my blog and paid some bills and then we watched two Hallmark movies.  One was about two people who get heart transplants from a couple who were killed in a car crash and left behind a little girl.  Of course they fall in love and are drawn to the little girl.  They get married and become like parents to the little girl.  It never says they adopt her, but I am hoping they did.  I am not sure if this was based on a true story or not.
The other movie was a Garage Sale Mystery: All That Glitters, starring Lori Laughlin.

This is a picture of Sister McAfee, the Primary
chorister in the Galveston 3rd ward.  They just
realigned ward boundaries in the Chandler West stake
and now, just before the Primary program, she
was put in the Pleasant 1st ward.  The Galveston 3rd ward lost
several of their children and their Primary chorister.
So very sad.
The kids loved her!

My view of the world in the early hours of the morning is my dining room window.  I open the blinds when I get up and wait for the sun to rise.
This picture didn't really capture how pink the clouds were.

Today I read Elder Dube's conference talk, "Look Ahead and Believe."  Here is a quote from his talk:
"In the sight of the Lord, it is not so much what we have done or where we have been but much more where we are willing to go."  I also read Sister Carol Stephens talk "Do We Know What We Have?"  She says that Priesthood ordinances and covenants provide access to the fulness of the blessings promised to us by God, which are made possible by the Savior's Atonement.

We helped clean the church again this week.  Chuck Crane, Jerry Scott, Millie Scott and James did the cleaning while Kathy Crane, Ruth Wallace and Diana Curtis and I took down the Christmas trees and decorations in the two foyers.
Ruth, Kathy, and Diana putting the last tree away.

Blain Curtis and I took all of the boxes back out to the storage shed in the back of my car and unloaded them.  Kathy says we need to make sure everything is stored properly because there may be mice in that shed. Diana said: "Well they want to stay warm too."  Kudos to the Curtis's and Ruth for going the extra mile and helping us.

As we left I asked James if we were going to go to town and he said no.  Back at home we had leftover taco soup for lunch.  I worked on my blog, doing three daily posts, paid some bills and finished up my 2013 Sunday Journal.

We watched two Mrs. Miracle Christmas movies and enjoyed both of them.  I was going to give James a hair cut but it will have to wait until morning.

Today was what I call a recovery or "down" day.  No where to go, nothing really pressing to do.  I am a little concerned about Jared.  Yesterday during our visit he said he can no longer run because his knees are so bad.  He also said he thinks he must have walking pneumonia because his breathing is so shallow.  We will pray for him and his speedy recovery.

I paid some bills today, worked on my blog, and watched some T.V.  James spent most of the day working on his audit for the insurance company.

Nothing exciting happening with the weather right now.  The highs are in the 40's and 50's and there is no snow or moisture predicted for the next 10 days.  There will barely be any clouds.  Kim will be disappointed when she comes up for her birthday.

Our house was a wee bit chilly when we got home last night.  I actually went to bed shivering, which is highly unusual for me.  Things are more back to normal today.

I am not ready to take our Christmas decorations down until after Kim's visit.

James and I watched a cute movie starring Haylie Duff.  It was called "Hats Off to Christmas."  '

Happy 63rd Birthday to my brother Harold.  He is a great guy.  He is always so willing to help and is such a good husband, father and grandpa.  Harold, I love you!

I actually packed lunch and dinner for James before he left this morning.  I made him a couple of tuna sandwiches, and put all the left over beans in a container so he could heat them up for dinner.  Also included in his care package: almond cookies, 2 cans of Dr. Pepper, and some honey and cinnamon to go with his herbal tea.

I got a call this morning from my neighbor Kathy Crane.  She told me to look outside and I would see a big herd of elk.  She told me to look out the north window.  It took me awhile to figure out which way was north but when I did this is what I saw:
I counted over 35 and there were still more.
This picture doesn't show you how beautiful they are, especially when they run.
Of course I had to call James and tell him.  He wanted to know how many bulls there were.  Darned if I know.  After talking with him on the phone I looked outside and there was no trace of the herd.

I exercised on my rebounder today while watching the Pioneer Woman cooking show.  She gave some really good ideas for 16 minute meals that I am definitely going to try.

This afternoon I paid bills.  Boy is it ever expensive to be alive.  In order to get me through this ordeal I watched some Hallmark movies.  There are some good ones out there.  My favorite today was: "Notes from the Heart Healer."

I got a call from James this evening.  He seems pretty discouraged because his back is really hurting and on top of working hard all day he has to come home to Chandler and fix a broken waterline.  I told him I loved him and that he should get a good nights sleep and things would look better in the morning.

James left this morning around 4am with Alex and Michael.  I asked him if they slept and he said no they listened to a book we have on tape called "Faith of Our Fathers" about a family and their struggles during the civil war.  He said they both loved it.  Before leaving the boys enjoyed playing this game:
The game is called Logo and it's a test of your knowledge of
brand names and commercials.  Since I don't watch very many commercials
I am not very good at it.
Brian made us, Kim, Joe, Darrel and I, a wonderful breakfast.  We had bacon, breakfast burritos with eggs, sausage and green chilies.  It was yummy.  Notice how so many of my posts involve food.  That's because I love to eat!
Darrel went to the Vernon store this morning and got some laundry detergent, then he came home and made pancakes for his kids.  After breakfast Addy and I played a game of Christmas Trivia.  She beat me by one point!  Later Addy, Darrel, Kim, Joe, and I played a game of 5 Crowns.  Before Darrel and his kids left I did the dinosaur puzzle with them, Ruby included.
Addy, Kim, and Rowan working on a puzzle.
I tried to get a picture of Darrel talking to Trina on the phone
but apparently he is a little camera shy.
After saying goodbye to Darrel and his kids Kim, Brian, Joe, and I played a game of Hearts.  I lost big time.
I spent most of the afternoon working on paying some bills James had failed to give me, and trying to set up his prescriptions with his new Medicare insurance,  but after being on hold for an hour I gave up.
Ended the day by watching two Christmas movies and texting with James.

No sun on my walk this morning.  Lots of clouds but no rain.  I paid bills this morning and then this afternoon James and I went in to town.  Our first stop was at LaCasita.  We almost couldn't find a place to park but luckily some guy left and we took his spot.  I had my green chili burro fix and then we were on our way.  James dropped me off at Walmart while he did some shopping at Home Depot.  It's so convenient that they built these two stores next to each other. On the way home we made a deposit into our account at National Bank and stopped for gas.  I slept part of the way home and part of the way I read from our new Victoria Holt book "The Captive."  We finished Marie Antionette.  It was so sad!  We all know that it ended badly for dear Marie.  I do have a new appreciation for her and her husband Louis XVI of France.
My car needed washing but James said we weren't stopping at the carwash that he would wash it when we got home, which he did.  Thanks Honey.
I am going to end this post with a picture that Kim sent me.

I spent much of the day paying bills, both personal and Lambson Construction.
Trina took all of the kids on a Ranger ride this morning and then Rowan wanted to go on another one, so off they went.  The girls stayed at the cabin with James and I.  James and I were eating lunch when it started to rain.  We were concerned about Trina and Rowan so James took off in the truck to look for him.  They were already most of the way home.  It had started raining and hailing on them up on the road to Green's Peak earlier than it rained here.  They were soaked and shivering.  Trina went upstairs to take a hot shower and we put Rowan in our bath tub.  He loved having the jets on and stayed a long time.
James made a delicious dinner for us using things we have in our food storage.  He used canned chicken, green chilies and green chili enchilada sauce, corn tortillas and cheese to make us some delicious tacos.  Trina made a salad using James's "receipe" which includes fresh lemon zest.  Everything was delicious and quite healthy too!
Trina made smores for the kids in the microwave.
I forgot to mention earlier that Darrel got me a new cover for my phone.  It is purple and I love it!  It is like having a new phone.  Thank you Darrel!

James left early this morning for the San Carlos Indian Reservation. I was walking down Willis Rd. He stopped and gave me a kiss. Drea Taylor was with him and she said, "I wish someone cared for me like that." James said, "That is the person I love more than anyone else in the world." I am truly blessed.
Evan came over this morning even though Sheri didn't have work. She took Max to the doctor though. Evan was in a sugar cookie mood. Several weeks ago he brought over a mix for me to make and for one reason or another I never got around to making them. He said: "Remember that time you were going to make them and you had to take a long shower and wash your hair?" Sorry Evan I don't remember but I will make your cookies today. When I got them made he ate one and I asked if he wanted to take a plate full home. He said no.
I didn't get much packing done today because I paid bills, and there were alot of them. James had planned on going to the cabin after work and wasn't due to come home until tomorrow evening. I decided to go to Jersey Mike's for dinner. It was kind of lonely. I went home and watched Pioneer Woman's cooking show, did a little blogging and was in bed by 8:30. I was surprised when at 9:00 someone was kissing me goodnight. He went to the cabin and came home early! He said he almost rolled his truck when a cage someone was pulling broke loose and hit his truck. He swerved and almost rolled. I know Heavenly Father heard my prayers of safety for him and he was protected.
