Finding Personal Peace
President Henry B. Eyring
Second Counselor in the First Presidency
First, the gift of peace is given after we have the faith to keep His commandments. For those who are covenant members of the Lord's Church, obedience is what we have already promised to do.
I got up at five this morning and finished my scripture workbook for this week's Come Follow Me lesson.
Kim and Brian came to our ward today and stayed for both meetings. We got there first and saved a back row for them. I noticed that Dave & Tammy Montgomery were behind us. We talked to them after the meeting. They came up to do some spring cleaning at their place. They said Neal & Kim Tarwater had been up here but they left. Neal is the bishop that Brian is a counselor to.
Kim made some awesome comments in Sunday School which wowed the class and Brother Applegate, our teacher. She talked about the symbols behind the parable of the good Samaritan. The Good Samaritan is of course Jesus. The victim represents mankind who is wounded with sin. Jerusalem is Paradise or Heaven where God lives and Jericho is the world. The Priest represents the law of Moses and the Levite the Prophets. The law and the prophets are not enough to save his, we must have the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. The beast represents Christ's body, the Inn is the Church and the Innkeeper is the Head of the Church.
She also made a comment as we discussed the Prodigal Son. She said there were two sons who needed the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The first son was prideful and jealous. She said more but that basically was the point she made.
When we arrived home I had to wait to change my clothes because I thought I was going to go visit Janna Grombach. We scheduled her for tomorrow but she is taking her mother shopping for a new temple dress. Janna had Young Women presidency meeting after church so we had to wait awhile. I finally changed in to some pants and a top.
Janna and Kathy ended up coming here and I gave them both their dishtowel and M&M's with the Magnificent & Marvelous card. We had a short visit on the porch. Janna didn't want to come in because Willy was waiting in the car. She said they are going on a picnic with Cope and Amy Reynolds.
Kim was working on my rocky road cake and Brian was making dinner when James and I went in to lie down for awhile. When we got up dinner was ready. Brian called in lunch and we settled on linner. We had steak, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and regular smashed potatoes. Everything tasted delicious! Thank you Brian!
Today is Autumn's birthday and Jared made her an Italian creme cake. Here is a picture:
Kim finished the cake and did such a good job decorating it:
It was delicious!
This evening I worked on my blog, listened to "Don't Miss This", and worked a little on my puzzle, "Childhood Stories."
The woman healed by touching Jesus' robe.
She has to wear this patch for two hours a day,
