Sacrifice and consecration are two heavenly laws that we covenant to obey in the holy temple. These two laws are similar but not identical. To sacrifice means to give something up in favor of something more valuable. Anciently, God's people sacrificed the firstlings of their flocks in honor of the coming Messiah. Throughout history, faithful Saints have sacrificed personal desires, comforts, and even their lives for the Savior.

I got up around six this morning. James has to get the rental car back to Hatch Toyota by 8 o'clock so we won't be charged for another day. Before he left this morning he had to chase a herd of cows away from Luna's water. When he was finished he parked the Razr by the water trough thinking it might keep cows from coming back.

He left the house around 7:15 and at 7:30 as I was leaving he called and said traffic was stopped for the construction work near the Y. I thought I had a little extra time so I went down 3144 to take a couple of pictures of the sunflower field. I ended up being about 10-15 minutes late picking James up. When he got in the car I asked if I could go get a taco at Aliberto's in Wagon Wheel. He said sure. So nice, especially since I already made him wait for me.

I got two shredded beef tacos and ate one of them when we got back home and saved the other one for later. James's back is bothering him so he went in to take a nap. I watched the newest GAC movie, "Love In Bloom" while eating my taco in the family room. When I was finished I went into the bedroom and began blogging for August 23rd. Yes, I am an entire week behind.

I cleaned the game shelf in the family room today and put lots of puzzles and games into the Goodwill box. I am very pleased with the results of my cleaning and organizing.

I should have taken some
before and after pictures.

Jared and Kacey spent the night in Dallas and took turns going to the temple today. After the temple they took Charlie somewhere fun.

Since I'm on the topic of Jared, Kacey, and Charlie, I wanted to share a story Jared told while we were at their house. Normally on Sundays he is off visiting another ward as part of his high council assignment. He visited a branch in a small place called Hemphill where church is held in a double-wide modular home. A storm came through and did some damage to the building and it was leaking. Jared and someone else whom I believe was also from the stake went out and bought tarps to put over the building at the cost of over $600. The Church owns 28 (I think) acres in this town and there is another building on the property. Perhaps church could be held in this other building or maybe some of the property could be sold to fund a new building.

I registered both my car and the Razr today. I also found my insurance card which went missing, and put it in my car.

I played General Conference catchup today listening to several talks to get me caught up. I listen to every talk every month and I was behind, so today was catchup day.

James worked at the Thompson's today doing cleanup. Greg had already done a lot of the cleanup which James was grateful for.

Finished watching "Love in Bloom." Here is a quote from the movie:
"Aren't daisies and sunflowers considered a weed?" " Weeds are just flowers who refuse to grow in a row.

I like the idea of small cakes.
