He Is Risen With Healing In His Wings: We Can Be More Than Conquerors
Elder Patrick Kearon
Of the Presidency of the Seventy
Dear friends who have been so terribly wounded - and for that matter, anyone who has borne the injustices of life - you can have a new beginning and a fresh start. In Gethsemane and on Calvary, Jesus "took upon Himself ... all of the anguish and suffering ever experienced by you and me," and He has overcome it all! With courage, patience, and faithful focus on Him, before too long you can come to fully accept this gift. You can let go of your pain and leave it at His feet.
What a privilege it is to be studying Isaiah, one of the greatest seers of all time.
Queen Elizabeth II died today at the age of 96 at her home in Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
At 10:30 this morning we left for town. We had to stop for construction at the Y. We made it to Persnikkity's at 11:00 for lunch. Our friends, Owen and Donna Peeler joined us for lunch. I had the Chipotle chicken and Quinoa salad and James, Donna, and Owen all had sandwiches. I had this particular salad for two reasons. Number one, Paula Johnson recommended it on Facebook and the second reason is I wanted to try quinoa. It was good, but not as good as the Chines chicken salad.
I'm glad we came early because they really started to get busy before we left. We saw two sister missionaries sitting with four other younger women and we wondered if they were non-members.
James went to Home Depot, while Owen and I went to Walmart. Owen picked up Donna's prescription and I picked up my tramadol and then went shopping. Owen and Donna met up with James at Central Arizona Plumbing where they picked out a kitchen sink for their home in Globe.
James called me just as I was headed up front to check out. He said he would meet me at the scan and go registers. He checked me out and never even complained about how much money I spent. Darn! I forgot to get the movie, "Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris." I guess I will have to get it the next time I am in town.
On the way home I got a text from a neighbor and one of the sisters I minister to, Chelsea MacArthur. She said she had a parent-teacher conference with Peyton's teacher this afternoon at 4:30 and was wondering if I could watch the kids. I told her I would be glad to.
Chelsea got here around 4:15 and dropped the kids off, including the baby, Boone. Boone was fine as long as he could see the girls. When they went upstairs to play he seemed to get a little worried, but nothing too serious. I was nervous about walking upstairs while carrying him so I tried to find things to entertain him when he seemed like he wasn't happy. I took him outside on the porch for a few minutes but he wasn't impressed so we went back inside. Here he is getting to know Yoda.
Chelsea was gone about an hour. When she returned she was holding a small white paper bag. She said, "I brought you a ribeye steak and some ground beef to see if you are going to like it." I thanked her and Chelsea went upstairs to help the girls cleanup. When they were finished the girls both came downstairs with a bouncy ball. They were having so much fun I told them to take them home with them.
James was outside working on the back yard and I asked him if he would turn on the grill. I grilled the frozen steak and after it was done I let it rest for 10 minutes. I guess you do that so the juices don't leak out when you cut it. Food Network, educational TV.
The steak was delicious and I left half for James. He said he couldn't eat steak at night or it will plug him up when he tries to sleep. He made a spinach, banana, pineapple shake instead.
James did something I asked him to do while he was working in the yard and I am grateful. There were two pieces of equipment sitting in the backyard and he moved them up on the hill, I assume. Thank you honey!
I listened to part of Inklings and Book of Mormon Central today.
