Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
The Apostles Paul, in his Epistle to the Galatians, sets forth the dichotomy between works of righteousness that qualify us to inherit the kingdom of God and works that can, without repentance, disqualify us. Among those that qualify us are the fruits of the Spirit: "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance." Paul also includes bearing one another's burdens and being not weary in well-doing. Among those works that are no righteous he includes hatred, wrath, and strife.
We got a text from Darrel last evening. He was on his way home from Colorado with friends. They were in Holbrook and wanted to know the road conditions in Show Low. He said that the Payson way was closed. I told him we had about 4 inches of snow and I assumed Show Low had the same. I told him I was quite sure that the roads would be cleared. We did not hear from him again so I assume they made it home safely.
I got up at 5:00 and at 8:00 it was only 11 degrees. As I was reading from "The Cleansing of America" waiting for James to come in for scriptures, he came in and said, "Do you want to hear the good news first or the bad." I said I need to hear both in whatever order. The bad news first, the refrigerator and freezer are off. I reminded him of the heater under the sink and I told him I had used the toaster while in the kitchen and I was quite sure this was what caused the problem. He went back and flipped the breaker, and sure enough, power is restored. The good news, Mr. Rademeyer will be sending us money for the hangar job by tomorrow. That is good news indeed!
As I was working on my blog and listening to Tyler and Taylor on Book of Mormon Central Come Follow Me 2022. Tyler was doing a genealogy of Abraham's family and he listed Sarah's father as being Terah, Abraham's father, with another mother. He lists Haran's children as Lot and Milcah. I would add to that list, Sarah or Sarai. In Brother Ridges "The Old Testament Made Easier" Volume 1, page 155 there is a chart from the Old Testament Student Manual, page 66.
James made us venison gravy over biscuits for lunch. He is perfecting his recipe. It was delicious. With the leftover venison he made a stew for us to have for dinner. I told him that since he's doing the cooking, he doesn't need me anymore. JK
I postponed my visit to the Grapp's until tomorrow because it is so snowy and cold today. I wanted to take them a treat so I went ahead and made some yellow cupcakes to take tomorrow. I used milk instead of water and I don't think it was a good idea. Courtney says everything should be room temperature so your cakes don't sink in the middle. Not only did these cupcakes sink, but they were very crumbly. James and I ate a couple and I froze the rest. They are not fit to be taken to someone for a treat.
I started watching an Amazon Prime movie starring Kate Beckinsale. It is called "Love and Friendship." It was only rated PG which is about my speed. It took me awhile to figure out which part Kate B. played because although I've heard of her I didn't know what she looked like. Finally her name came up on the screen with the part she played. I should have known she was the main character.
I finished "Unshaken" today and I also worked on cleaning out my closet. I have so much stuff stored in there.
I got a text from Tamara today. A sister in our ward, Sue Hubble, has a daughter who has cancer. Sue has been watching her two and four year old so her daughter's husband can be with her.
They just found out she has glioblastoma, a fast acting cancer. Tamara thought Sue may need someone to talk to so she asked me to talk to Wendy DeWitt her ministering companion to see if she would call Sue. Wendy said she would happy. Wendy was in the valley taking care of her daughter who had double knee surgery.
In our book that James and I are reading two of the main characters have been captured by the East Germans. So sad, especially with what is going on in the Ukraine right now.
Right before bed
