'There Was Bread'
Bishop W. Christopher Waddell
First Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric
Once the seven years of plenty had passed, we are told that "seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread."
Today we are blessed to be led by prophets who understand the need for us to prepare against the calamities "which should come" and who also recognize the limitations or restrictions that we may encounter in striving to follow their counsel.
You have been blessed with bishops and branch presidents who seek out members of their congregations with temporal needs and who have access to tools and resources that can help you reestablish your lives and place you on the path to self-reliance as you apply principles of preparedness.
'The Exquisite Gift Of The Son'
Elder Matthew S. Holland
Of the Seventy
All good gifts come from the Savior. Regardless of the causes of our worst hurts and heartaches, the ultimate source of relief is the same: Jesus Christ. He alone holds the full power and healing balm to correct every mistake, right every wrong, adjust every imperfection, mend every wound, and deliver every delayed blessing. Like witnesses of old, I testify that "we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities" but rather a loving Redeemer who descended from His throne above and went forth "suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind . . . , that he may know . . . how to succor his people."

As a companion scripture to the Bible, the Book of Mormon testifies that all human beings are sons and daughters of a loving Father in Heaven, that He has a divine plan for our lives, and that His Son, Jesus Christ, speaks today as well as in days of old.
Anthony called this morning and James talked to him for over an hour.
James went to town today and along with his errand he picked up my Tramadol at Walmart. It was one of those days when I wanted to stay home. We had snow, rain, clouds, and sunshine today. I stayed home and worked on my blog. While I was working I watched "Homemade Christmas." One girl says to another, concerned her friend isn't dating, "You don't want to find your person?"
Pierce came over to help James with the welder and apologized for not bringing Kathy over yesterday. He said he worked on her teeth and just totally forgot.
When James went to town I wanted him to bring me a taco but I didn't actually ask him, so I couldn't be upset when he came home without one. Instead I made tacos from the leftover beanless meat I made last week. They were yummy!
Thomas, Cammy, Emsley, Leland, and Malea Grapp came over today. All that their oldest daughter wants for Christmas is a floppy-eared rabbit. They told her the best time to get a rabbit is in the spring so she asked for a hutch to put him in for Christmas. They wanted to look at the hutch James made for Rowan who was interested in catching the rabbits around here. Since Rowan is hardly ever here the hutch just sits there empty. Cammy mentioned how expensive and flimsy the hutch's are in stores or online. They liked James's and want to buy it. They will paint it and fix it up a little before giving it to Liana.
Can you see Luna in the background?
outside. She is the sweetest baby!
The rest of the Grapp kids, Liana, Benson, and Tildy were at piano lessons and Emsley is sworn to secrecy. She is not allowed to tell them that her family came to our house. Before leaving I gave Emsley and Leland a candy cane. Emsley made sure that Leland didn't get the "hot" kind.
