Four months ago, in my study of the scriptures, I was reading about Alma's mission in Ammonihah when I came across this suggestion in Come, Follow Me: "As you read about the great blessings God gave the people of Nephi (see Alma 9:19-23), ponder the great blessings He has given you." I decided to make a list of God's blessings to me and record it in my digital version of the manual. In a matter of minutes, I had listed 16 blessings.
Foremost among them were the great blessings of the Savior's mercy and atoning sacrifice on my behalf. I also wrote of the blessings I had to represent the Savior as a young missionary in Portugal and, later, with my loving eternal companion, Patricia, in the Brazil Porto Alegre South Mission, where we served with 522 powerful and wonderful missionaries. Speaking of Patricia, many of the blessings I recorded that day are blessings we have enjoyed together throughout our 40 years of marriage - including our sealing in the Sao Paulo Brazil Temple, our three wonderful children, their spouses, and our 13 grandchildren.
My thoughts turned also to my righteous parents, who raised me in the principles of the gospel. I was reminded in particular of a moment when my loving mother knelt with me to pray by my bedside when I was around 10 years of age. I will be forever grateful to her for teaching me to pray, for I learned that my Heavenly Father hears my prayers and answers them. In fact, that was another blessing that I included in my list - the gift to be able to hear and learn the will of the Lord.

Restoration Proclamation

Two hundred years ago, on a beautiful spring morning in 1820, young Joseph Smith, seeking to know which church to join, went into the woods to pray near his home in upstate New York, USA.

We woke up to snow this morning. This kids were so excited! I'm not sure Trina was though.  Molly, Ruby, and Lola needed gloves. I got out the glove box but it needs to be replenished.

James and Rowan left early to go elk hunting. This is the first time James has been drawn in 12 years and even though his ribs hurt, he wouldn't miss going out. I'm glad Rowan is with him. They came back at noon and then went out again after resting for awhile.

Trina and Darrel put lights on our Christmas tree. Darrel also put the light on the top. It took a few tries to get it straight.  It was apparent we didn't have enough so Trina and I went to Walmart. I was not planning on going to Walmart on Black Friday but here I am. It really wasn't too bad. I bought several boxes of the cheap lights and then bought a couple of boxes of led lights as recommended by Kim. I bought one off-white set and one white set. Eventually I'm going to go over to the white set. I also bought three sets of gloves, two were for snow the last was for work. It was all of the gloves they had.  I am sure they will be put to good use in the snow. I also bought a half gallon of Bluebell homemade vanilla ice cream. It's so easy to spend $100. I enjoyed my time with Trina. She is pleasant to be around and is so willing to serve. She came home and finished putting the lights on my tree and then decorated the entire tree, allowing the girls to help. I am so grateful. This is what Kim was going to do but since she couldn't come, Trina took it upon herself to do it for me. She is a very thoughtful person.

Thank you Darrel and Trina!

Still need to add the white doves, icicles,
and crystal snowflakes and the tree skirt

I have a correction to make in yesterday's entry. I said that Lola was afraid to ride Luna. I texted Darrel and he asked her. She said she did ride her so I stand corrected.

At one point today Molly came in and asked me if we had a wheelbarrow or wagon. When I told her no she said she was cleaning out Luna's corral. I told her to just throw everything over the fence.
I wish I had gotten a picture of her and Ruby outside working.

Darrel brought his new gun and some clay pigeons to shoot . He couldn't get the pigeon thrower to work and decided it was too muddy to shoot anyway. Maybe tomorrow.

Thanks to her mom Charlie was ready for the snow. She looked so cute in her outfit.

Charlie loved the snow! She fell asleep on the Razr ride Jared and Kacey took up to Gillespie Flat. Kacey said it was beautiful. Kacey, if you have pictures, please send them to me.

Here are some other things that went on today: Charlie and Addy watched "Lion King". Charlie also wanted to watch "Big Hero Six."
The other girls watched "Switched Princesses" starring Vanessa Hudgeons. Stacy started a Christmas puzzle. Molly, Ruby, and Lola helped her. I started a Matching game with Lola. Trina finished for me. Jared and Charlie have stuffy noses and Charlie's cheeks and nose are red because of the dry air.

Addy, Stacy, and Rowan watched "Sherlock." We put ice cream in our hot chocolate. Kacey's idea. Darrel, Trina, and their kids played the board game Clue and then they watched the movie. Kacey, Jared, Addy and I played Five Crowns. Addy won and Kacey lost. Last night it was reversed.

Molly helped me fix macaroni and cheese and turkey tacos for dinner. She was awesome and never quit!

A scary thing happened this afternoon while Stacy and I were in the bedroom doing my lashes.  James and Rowan got separated and Rowan called to say he couldn't find grandpa and that he, himself, was lost. Darrel and Trina talked to him on the phone and Darrel was just leaving to go find him when James walked in the door. He turned around and went back out with Darrel. While they were gone Trina ran upstairs and shut the door to her bedroom. I could tell she was upset. Soon she came back downstairs and said she was going out to look for Rowan too because it was getting dark. A few minutes later Darrel and James came back with Rowan with them. James apologized to Trina and said he didn't know that Rowan had his phone.

James was tired and is getting up at daybreak again so he went to bed early. It was a great day, except for Rowan being lost and Luna kicking at Molly,  spent with family. We were so grateful for the snow!
