James and I re-started the Book of Mormon at the beginning of the year.  We read it clear through every six months.  Today we read 1 Nephi 11 & 12.

I picked up Sheri, Max and Evan this morning a little before 8.  She ask that we go down Dobson so she could stop at Circle K and get a diet Dr. Pepper.  Next stop, Bright Beginnings for Max and Evan.  Since this was the first day back to school after Christmas break, Evan was a little nervous.  It was cute to see Max put his arm around him and walk with him to his class.  It helped that Kim got there the same time we did.  I think Evan felt better seeing her.  Dropped Sheri off at Chandler Eye for work and then went back to the house.  I cleaned my downstairs office and loaded up 17 boxes to take back to Vernon.  I also made a trip to Goodwill to donate my Book of Knowledge encyclopedias.  No one has any use for them these days.  Everything is done on the internet.  Most kids don't even know what encyclopedias are.  How sad!

This afternoon when Kim got home from work she picked me up and we made a trip to Sweet Tooth Fairy in Scottsdale.  We wanted to try their Nutella cupcake.  We were both a little disappointed.  We could not taste any hazlenut in that chocolate frosting.
The Nutella is the one missing.  It was a
vanilla cupcake with a bavarian cream center and
chocolate frosting.  Good, but definitely no
Nutella good.
I also got a chocolate cupcake with salted carmel frosting, vanilla with vanilla frosting, vanilla with peppermint frosting, a toffee crunch frosting with chocolate cupcake, and creme brulee frosting with a brown sugar cupcake.  All of them were delicious.  For six cupcakes it cost me $13.50.

James left around 4:30 this morning for the valley.  I ran in and took a shower before he left so he could turn the water off and winterize.  I left around 7.  I stopped in Payson for a bacon breakfast burrito at Del Taco.  I arrived at Dr. Douglas's office in Chandler just before 11am for my teeth cleaning appointment with Jackie.  Before leaving the office I scheduled an appointment for my crown on January 24th.
Did a little shopping at Walmart and bought a croissant sandwich for lunch then headed to Mesa for my appointment at the Arizona Arthritis and Rheumatology Center with Dr. Caldron.  My appointment was going fine until Dr. Caldron told me they did not get the lab results from when I had my blood drawn at Dr. Wilson's office in December, which means they had to draw blood again today.  I also got a flu shot.
This evening James and I went to get tires at Sears for my car.  We ended up not getting them because James said they were $200 and he thought he could get them cheaper at Discount Tire.
We used our $25 gift card at Chili's for dinner.  I got the mango salsa chicken with broccoli and rice.  It was yummy!
I took Sheri to drop off her car at Erik's.  James and I read from our book before going to bed. (The Accidental Detective.)

This year in Sunday School we are studying the Doctrine and Covenants.  Today the lesson covered the introduction and section 1.  In Relief Society and Priesthood the course of study comes from the Teachings of Lorenzo Snow.  Also, I am super excited about our new curriculum for Young Women.  Our topic of study for January is the Godhead.  I love teaching doctrinal lessons from the scriptures!
A sister who lived in Vernon for many years and had a great influence on the community passed away this week.  Her name was Beulah Penrod.  Many of the testimonies today in fast & testimony meeting were reminiscing about her life and the history of the church in Vernon.  James bore his testimony and I was the last person to bear mine.  We were already over time when I bore mine so I made it brief and mainly about the Savior.

I attended Lannie Gillespie's teacher training class during Sunday School.  Kaeli Nicoll taught the lesson in Young Women's about the nature of the Godhead.  She did a good job and got alot of participation.
James attended our ward's sacrament meeting and then went to the Park Place ward in Show Low.
After church we came home and took naps and then broke our fast before dinner time.  James fixed dinner and then cleaned the kitchen.
This evening we watched the second half of "Love's Christmas Journey" and then about 3/4's of the season 3 premier of Downton Abbey.  It was a good sabbath day.

Saturday, January 5, 2013

I love Saturdays when James is home and we can catchup with all the happenings of the week.  We read scriptures and said our prayers and then he did some desk work while I tried to catch up on my Sunday journal.
For lunch James heated up our leftover chalupa and added some salsa and cheese.  It was very tasty.
After lunch we went in to town to see about getting some tires for my car.  We were too late for Robert's tires who close at noon on Saturday.  Discount tire is too high and Walmart didn't have my size tires so the trip was kind of a bust except for the little bit of shopping I did at Walmart.
When I got home I spent almost an hour cleaning the mud off my car so it would be clean for Sunday.
For dinner I made some frozen chinese food.  It wasn't very good except for the potstickers.  James liked the crab rangoons.  After dinner we started our fast.
Before going to bed we watched Elementary and the first half of "Love's Christmas Journey."

Kilee, Holly and I went to town this morning.  I needed to go to the bank, pick up some prescriptions for James, and do a little shopping at Walmart and return some extra games I bought for Christmas. Oh yes, did I mention, get my car washed.  I took a picture of these two before we left.
Sorry it's so blurry.
After shopping at Walmart we were hungry so we stopped at McDonald's for lunch, and then on to Splash and Dash to wash my car.  When I came out of the carwash the guy working there yelled at me to stop.  I thought maybe I had a flat tire or had done something wrong.  Thank goodness it was nothing like that.  He said my car needed to be wiped down so he and some other guy proceeded to do so.  I told him I lived in Vernon and he said he understood because he use to live there and new all about the mud.
While dropping Kilee and Holly off at their home we saw two turkeys.  We also saw their cousin Coulter try to sled down the hill in front of his house.  It was so cute!
Behind the tree.
Up the hill.
Almost to the top.
Because he wasn't going fast enough when he went down the hill he laid on his back and pushed with his legs to make himself go faster.
While I was home alone this afternoon I paid bills, watched movies, and blogged.  James got home around 9:30 this evening.  We watched his favorite show, Person of Interest, before going to bed.  It's good to have him home!

January 3, 2013

Happy Birthday to my sweet sister-in-law Cathi Lambson!
Kim woke up early and worked on her puzzle.  It's one of her favorite things to do when she is here.
I called and spoke to someone at Silver Script, the Medicare prescription company.
Before Kim, Brian and Joe left for home I made the mistake of suggesting that we play another game of Hearts.  I lost again.  Brian kept giving me the Queen and Kim shot the moon.  Oh well, better luck next time.
My company left around noon and I spent the afternoon getting ready for the Young Men, Young Women planning meeting we are having here tonight.  I cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed the rugs, and cleaned and waxed the wood floor.  I happened to go outside and noticed there was snow and ice all over the steps so I cleaned a portion of the steps, which took awhile because it was mostly ice.  I used some kosher salt to melt the ice.
The people who attended our meeting: Hans, Natalie, Adalyn, and Jonah Soderquist.  Hans made donuts while Natalie, who is the Young Women's president conducted our meeting.  Adalyn and Jonah went in our bedroom and watched "Over the Hedge" and "Despicable Me."  Steve Allen, the Young Men's President, Sean Hunsaker, one of his counselors, Tyler Hunsaker, the Teacher's quorum president, and Kilee, a counselor in the Beehive class.  Kaeli Nicoll and myself, counselors in the Young Women's.  Mary Swift, the Laurel president, Shelly Applegate, the Mia Maid president, LeeAnn Hunsaker, the Beehive class president, and Jackson Allen, the Deacon's quorum president.  We planned about half a years worth of combined activities and then we had some delicious food to eat.  Tina Allen sent a pot of chili with Jackson, and Hans made homemade donuts that were delicious.
After the meeting Kilee Hunsaker and her 10 year old sister Holly, spent the night with me.  They fell asleep during "The Santa Incident" and ended up sleeping on the couch and chair.
The meeting of the minds.
Now we are getting tired and hungry.

James left this morning around 4am with Alex and Michael.  I asked him if they slept and he said no they listened to a book we have on tape called "Faith of Our Fathers" about a family and their struggles during the civil war.  He said they both loved it.  Before leaving the boys enjoyed playing this game:
The game is called Logo and it's a test of your knowledge of
brand names and commercials.  Since I don't watch very many commercials
I am not very good at it.
Brian made us, Kim, Joe, Darrel and I, a wonderful breakfast.  We had bacon, breakfast burritos with eggs, sausage and green chilies.  It was yummy.  Notice how so many of my posts involve food.  That's because I love to eat!
Darrel went to the Vernon store this morning and got some laundry detergent, then he came home and made pancakes for his kids.  After breakfast Addy and I played a game of Christmas Trivia.  She beat me by one point!  Later Addy, Darrel, Kim, Joe, and I played a game of 5 Crowns.  Before Darrel and his kids left I did the dinosaur puzzle with them, Ruby included.
Addy, Kim, and Rowan working on a puzzle.
I tried to get a picture of Darrel talking to Trina on the phone
but apparently he is a little camera shy.
After saying goodbye to Darrel and his kids Kim, Brian, Joe, and I played a game of Hearts.  I lost big time.
I spent most of the afternoon working on paying some bills James had failed to give me, and trying to set up his prescriptions with his new Medicare insurance,  but after being on hold for an hour I gave up.
Ended the day by watching two Christmas movies and texting with James.
