The blessing of baby Ander Hoose

Happy Birthday Cathi!
One of my most favorite people in the world!

Today I gave my first lesson on the Book of Mormon.  We got to church early so I could set up my room, something I never did last year.  I am so glad I did!  Things ran much more smoothly.  We sat by Jared and his kids and Paula Johnson during sacrament meeting.
None of the Miller's were at church today.  Debbie, the bishop's mother, is in the hospital.  She has a weakened immune system because of her chemo therapy treatments.
James bore his testimony today about Stacy giving a Book of Mormon to Cindy Ganado and the fruits of that effort.
Tyler Hunsaker bore his testimony.  He will be leaving on his mission on January 13th.

Emmy was in my class today along with Braylin Chaffin, Curtis and Zemira Wilhelm.  There are five other children on my roll but the only one I have ever seen is Kacey Westbrook.  She is Wade and Jackie Butler's granddaughter and is a sweetheart.  I wish she would come more often.

Our lesson was: "The Book of Mormon, a Gift from a Loving Heavenly Father."  The kids were so good!
I had a coughing attack during sharing time and had to leave.  Molly came looking for me.

After church Jared and the kids get ready and leave for home.
Great memories!
Come back soon!
James and I break our fast a little early because we both have headaches.  We had burgers for dinner and then watched some movies on the Up channel.  We watched: "Three Days of Christmas", "The Nativitiy", and "Christmas Snow".  Christmas Snow is one of my favorites.

I forgot to mention that the kids enjoyed playing with my Calico Critters while they were here.  Surprisingly none of them got lost.

I am grateful my nativity set survived the Christmas chaos.

The Tree of Life

Happy Birthday Cathi!

Sheri cooked bacon this morning.  It disappeared very quickly.
Michael, Joe, Alex, and Ian are in a phase that I call Yahtzee Mania.  Michael was so excited about one of his scores that he posted it on the refrigerator: 479 points and more than one Yahtzee!

Sheri, Ben and I played Five Crowns, and I am not one to brag, but I won again!

While we were playing games James was building and stoking the fire.  He smells like smoke so my new name for him is "LumberJim."

Sheri got ready to go home and was in such a hurry she didn't even say goodbye and I didn't get any pictures.  Ian was the last one to get in the car and he said goodbye, but no one else did.

After the Trezise's left Kim, Brian and I played a game of Five Crowns.  Brian was heard to say this while we were playing:
"To get the booty you want,
you have to get off the one you have."

Also, while we were playing Five Crowns Michael and Joe were playing Rockband.  Michael couldn't find the drumsticks so he used a couple of large plastic spoons he found in the kitchen.

Kim watched "Christmas in Canaan" with me and she like it just as much as I did.  I think it's a classic.  Who knew that Billy Ray Cyrus could act.  I also watched a new Hallmark move: "Surprised by Love."

James and I made a trip to town to get something to eat while the Horak's and Michael were getting ready for their dinner.  We went to Panda Express.  I got orange and teriyaki chicken with fried rice.

Darrel took Addy and Rowan snowboarding at Sunrise today.  He said there was lots of falling and some tears but at the end of the day they both said they had fun.

Rowan looks like he's in control!

Happy 65th Birthday to my
dear sister-in-law Cathi!

Lots of sick people in our family right now.  Stacy called and said she and Paul have it and Joshua has a fever again.  Stacy says what she has is a throat virus and so an antibiotic won't work.  Alex and Micahel were sick after Christmas.  James has laringitis and a sinus infection.

I love Elder Soares conference talk on being Meek and Lowly of Heart.  I really needed to hear his words today.  Here is the definition he gave of meekness: "Meekness is the quality of those who are Godfearing, righteous, humble, teachable, and patient under suffering.  Those who possess this attribute are willing to follow Jesus Christ, and their temperament is calm, docile, tolerant, and submissive.  Definitely need to work on this attribute.

I emailed some recipes to Kim today for chili, taco soup, and honey-lime chicken.  They are ones that she asked for.

I am excited that I am within four days of catching up on my blog!

James and I were watching TV this afternoon when we heard a loud noise outside.  James went out to see what it was and found that a stone had come off the fireplace.  I guess he will be calling the stone mason.

James grilled us some steaks for lunch.  I had bought them to cook on New Year's Eve but we ended up going to the Dewitt's party instead.  They were yummy.  For dinner we had collard green and cabbage with bacon butter.  Quite good.

In my quest to put away Christmas I managed to put the Disney tree away.  I am moving slow.

We watched kind of a silly Christmas movie called "Finding Mrs. Claus." We enjoy spending this time together in the evening watching movies.

Evan is such a unique and special boy.  On New Year's day he got all of his family together around the table and had them open a note from him.  It said:  "It's hard to be good all the time, but Trezise family you are doing a great job!"  Sincerely from Robo Tech.  Then he gave each one of them a dollar.  Robo Tech is the name of his company.  You gotta love this kid!

Happy Birthday to my sweet sister-in-law Cathi Lambson!
Kim woke up early and worked on her puzzle.  It's one of her favorite things to do when she is here.
I called and spoke to someone at Silver Script, the Medicare prescription company.
Before Kim, Brian and Joe left for home I made the mistake of suggesting that we play another game of Hearts.  I lost again.  Brian kept giving me the Queen and Kim shot the moon.  Oh well, better luck next time.
My company left around noon and I spent the afternoon getting ready for the Young Men, Young Women planning meeting we are having here tonight.  I cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed the rugs, and cleaned and waxed the wood floor.  I happened to go outside and noticed there was snow and ice all over the steps so I cleaned a portion of the steps, which took awhile because it was mostly ice.  I used some kosher salt to melt the ice.
The people who attended our meeting: Hans, Natalie, Adalyn, and Jonah Soderquist.  Hans made donuts while Natalie, who is the Young Women's president conducted our meeting.  Adalyn and Jonah went in our bedroom and watched "Over the Hedge" and "Despicable Me."  Steve Allen, the Young Men's President, Sean Hunsaker, one of his counselors, Tyler Hunsaker, the Teacher's quorum president, and Kilee, a counselor in the Beehive class.  Kaeli Nicoll and myself, counselors in the Young Women's.  Mary Swift, the Laurel president, Shelly Applegate, the Mia Maid president, LeeAnn Hunsaker, the Beehive class president, and Jackson Allen, the Deacon's quorum president.  We planned about half a years worth of combined activities and then we had some delicious food to eat.  Tina Allen sent a pot of chili with Jackson, and Hans made homemade donuts that were delicious.
After the meeting Kilee Hunsaker and her 10 year old sister Holly, spent the night with me.  They fell asleep during "The Santa Incident" and ended up sleeping on the couch and chair.
The meeting of the minds.
Now we are getting tired and hungry.
