"United in Accomplishing God's Work"
Jean B. Bingham
"Adam and Eve were given commandments to obey and had different ways of approaching those instructions, which caused some initial anxiety and confusion. But as they made decisions that changed their lives forever, they learned to work together and became united in accomplishing the purposes God had for them - and for all of His children."

I realize that if I want a blessing in my life and I require the Lord's help to acquire this blessing I must ask Him with REAL INTENT. If I am asking with real intent then I am doing my part to bring about the desired blessing. This is where I continually fall down. I want something and I think I will do anything to get it but I have discovered that I am very weak. I will continue to pray for strength to overcome.

I had not planned on going to town today. I needed a couple of birthday cards and I was going to make a quick trip to Dollar General. James said he needed to deposit the check Mario gave him today because he already wrote a check on it. I reminded him that wasn't a good idea since a large check like this one will take a couple of days to become available.

He convinced me that I should go with him so I went in to get ready to go. He wanted to leave by 9. When I came out I had a new pink top on. This was the comment James made: "You look spoofy." I said, spoofy? What does spoofy mean, is that a combination of spiffy and spooky? He then corrected himself and said I looked nice.

I waited for James in the car while he went inside the bank to deposit the check. He had to wait in a long line. When he got to the front of the line he told the teller that none of the banks he went to in the valley had the lobby open, only the ATM and he did not have a debit card to use in the ATM. She said this branch is one of the only branches open. The branch in Pinetop is closed because they get more visitors from the valley. Interesting.

James dropped me off at Walmart to get the cards I needed while he went to Tractor Supply to get mousetraps, which he forgot, and horse feed. I told him to look for a mask for Luna to keep the flies away from her eyes.

When James picked me up from Walmart we drove to Taco Bell and got some tacos and a tostada  for lunch. I made James wait until he got home to eat his tostada because he was so messy with his taco. It is hard to eat while you are driving. This Covid-19 is not good for the cleanliness of my car. Speaking of clean cars, we were going to go through the carwash but we passed the one at Circle K up and the Splash and Dash was broke on one side and the other side had a long line. James promised me he would wash the car when he got home although it might be at 8 p.m. because he is going to be so busy. "Don't worry honey, I won't let you forget."

We listened to a couple of conference talks and I read from Aunt Dimity while we were on the road. Lori and Bree are looking for a lost Russian prince in the homes of wealthy gentry in the English countryside where Daisy Pickering went with her mother to work. Coral, Daisy's best friend told them that the silver saltcellar sleigh they have was stolen from the lost prince and then he was thrown into a dungeon. Daisy told Coral all of this. It would be most helpful if they could find Daisy and her mom but they seem to have vanished. Lori and Bree's cover to get into these homes: They are journalists doing a story for a magazine. Bree came up with this idea because rich people love to see their names in print.

This afternoon after my rest time I worked on my blog which should have been done this morning but I was finishing up my gospel studies for yesterday this morning. I set my timer for 20 minutes. Twenty minutes work on the blog, ten minutes walking. I must do this if I am to get 15,000 steps by the end of the day.

James put Luna in the yard because she looks so bored in her small pen. I went outside to put my mother's day plants on the table and lo and behold, there was Luna so very close. It startled me for a moment.

James went on a Luna ride while I did today's gospel study. After dinner and when I was finished walking I went in to take my shower and then we watched "Lark Rise to Candleford" season 2 episode 5.
Laura:
"Time rests heavy on the residents of Lark Rise and Candleford as baby Annie stirs up emotions of days gone by and loves yet to be found. My mother was one of those women, as the hamlet saying went, never flinched. But the care of an infant can show the best of us our limitations and teach us that life can't all be carefree summer days.
Laura and Fisher:
L: That's the old bell tower.
F: I know. Quite an agreeable little town you have here, and it's about to change.
L: Why might that be?
F: Because I'm here. I am the clockmaker and clocks always change people's lives.
Laura and Dorcas after Fisher calls her "buttoned up."
L: Mam, would you say I was buttoned up?
D: Not in the least, not at all. Perhaps at times a tad serious if I were to be exacting.
L: So you think I should unbutton?
D: Rather an unfortunate phrase but we can all benefit by being a little more carefree.

April General Conference

"Prayers of Faith"
Henry B. Eyring
"President Nelson invited us to make a personal plan to prepare ourselves for this historic conference, which commemoration he said would be 'a hinge point in the history of the Church, and your part is vital.' Like me, perhaps you heard his message and asked yourself, 'In what way is my part vital?' Perhaps you read and prayed about the events of the Restoration. Perhaps, more than ever before, you read the accounts of those few times when God the Father introduced His Beloved Son. Perhaps you read of the instances when the Savior spoke to the children of our Heavenly Father. I know I did all of those things and more. I felt filled with joy at the prospect of being invited to participate in this celebration of the ongoing Restoration.

James left a little before six this morning to meet with Richard the road guy. He paid him some money and they talked about him doing the next section. After meeting with Richard he went on to the Howard's to work.

My book balance this morning was $703.31, the amount Amazon owes me!

I went to Taylor with James this afternoon because I could tell he really wanted me to go. He is going to see a guy about fixing the cracked block of the Razr. The guy can't fix it so now we will have to buy one. James says it will probably cost around $900 to order one. We want to get the Razr fixed before the summer. I am dying to go for a ride on the mountain. The Halcomb's said there is still snow up high.

James dropped me off at Walmart while he went to see the guy he came to see. When he was finished he joined me and picked out a Mother's Day card for his mom. As soon as we got home he took a few minutes to sign the card. I will sign it, put in an Amazon gift card and send it off tomorrow.

After our shopping spree we went over to Taco Bell across the street and we each ordered two tacos. It cost us $7.00 because we donated to feeding children, can't remember the exact name of the organization. Our tacos were lacking, lacking very much meat that is. James warned me that this Taco Bell wasn't up to par and he was right. We should have ordered something to eat at Sonic when we ordered our cherry limeades during Happy Hour.

On the way home we got some money out at the bank so we could pay Richard $400 more dollars. He has done half the job and we are paying him half the pay. James paid him $400 this morning so that makes a total of $800. Richard started grading the last stretch of road and made a big pile of dirt which was difficult to drive in. I wonder how long it will take him to finish this road since he only works about two hours a day. He is old, in his seventies or eighties and he said he runs out of steam. Tell me about it.

James went on a Luna ride while I studied the gospel. This evening we watched season 1 episode 8 of "Lark Rise to Candleford."
A violent storm hits Lark Rise and Candleford. The arrival of a radical new teacher causes divisions in the two communities. Dorcas has a new admirer, the new teacher, James Delafield. Alf tries to impress Laura, who seems increasingly smitten with Philip.
Quotes
Dorcas:
"Laura, will you tell Zillah Mr. Delafield and I will take tea in the parlor with Banbury cake."
Dorcas: "I do like to think well of myself, it is my one weakness."
Mr. Delafield to the men of Lark Rise in the Wagon and Horses Inn:
"Poverty is no disgrace. It is a great inconvenience though."

 Happy Birthday Autumn!
