1 Nephi 13:40-14:8
Why is it so important to hold fast to the plain and precious truths of the gospel?
2 Nephi 7-8
DC 10:11-21
These verses are a powerful reminder that God is in control.  How can this bring you comfort in these perilous times?

I spent the morning getting ready to go to Chandler.  I left at noon.  Rolling fog and snow was descending off the Vernon hills.  There was some moisture along the way, but no snow.  The story would have been different if I had come tomorrow.  There is a huge storm coming in.
Superstition Mountains

In Show Low I stopped at Walmart to pick up prescriptions.  I had to show I.D. for my Tramadol as it is now a controlled substance.
I drove over to Firehouse Subs to get some lunch and saw Donna Peeler getting in to her Mustang convertible.  She is the coolest grandma on the mountain!  Next I went to the Splash and Dash for gas and a car wash.  James sprayed my car off on Sunday but by the time I reached the Hunsaker's today it was covered in mud again.  I also stopped at the CVS to pick up a prescription for James, and then it was on to Heber.

That's right Dolly!

There were just patches of snow on the Rim.  I stopped at the McDonald's in Payson for an ice cream cone.  There were three highway patrol on the highway just outside of Payson keeping the speed of traffic in check. I was in a race with a car from Minnesota but lost him when I got into the rush hour traffic in the valley.

I sure do love this girl!

I got to Cathi and Terry's around 5.  James came home and took a shower.  He had been laying tile at his job all day.

That is alot of tile!
Alex and Adam were his worthy assistants.

Nice job!

We took Cathi and Terry to Black Angus for dinner this evening.  James wanted to say thank you to Terry for picking up the tile for his job and we were also celebrating Cathi's birthday.  The food was delicious and the company was great!

Back at home I have to rub Indy's tummy and James has to give Lady a treat before we could read from "Adam-Ondi-Ahman."
Charlotte called so I spent some time on the phone with her.

Fun Photos

I love Joe's hair!
The many faces of Sheri.

Here's another one.

Evan looks a little like Nancy.

Happy 88th Birthday to my Aunt Gene,
my dad's only sibling.  I love her!

I was going to go home today to get my visiting teaching done, but James talked me in to staying. While he was at work I drove to Dr. Allen's on Baseline and Power Rd. to pick up my thyroid pills.
I also went to visit Trina and Lola.  Trina took me to see the house they are buying.  It is near Ray and Signal Butte in the new Eastmark subdivision.

The subdivision is amazing with five parks and other recreational facilities and two schools.  Darrel and Trina have a nice view of the Superstition Mountain out the upstairs window.
Trina is very excited about the house.  It should close either on the 30th or 31st of this month.

Lola trying out the new carpet.

Even though it sounds like it is a long ways out, the 202 goes right to it.  It only took me about 20 minutes to get back to Cathi and Terry's.
James was home waiting for me to go to lunch.  We were going to use our gift card and go to Black Angus but it isn't open for lunch so we went to Firebirds.  James and I both got appetizers for our entree's.  He had the crab cakes with tortilla slaw and mango habernero chutney and I had coconut shrimp with tortill slaw and mango habernero chutney.  I got five shrimp and he only got two crab cakes.
Coconut shrimp
We also had two small loaves of their sourdough bread.  It is so delicious!  Firebirds is one of my favorite places to have lunch.

After lunch we went home to take a nap.

Joshua got a haircut today.  Doesn't he look handsome?
He looks alot like Dallin.
Cathi and Terry got home a little late this evening because they went to pick Colin up.  Colin was very happy when he got here.  He came in and said hello to both James and I and then went to eat his chocolate donut with sprinkles.

This evening James and I went to Black Angus for dinner to use the gift card Kim and Brian got us for Christmas.  We both had the six ounce filet mignon and it was delicious!  I had a salad and mashed potatoes for my sides and James had steak soup and green beans.  We certainly ate well today!

When we returned to Cathi and Terry's, Dave and Laura were there visiting.  We joined them, the six of us sitting around the dining room table.  Colin preferred sitting on the couch, although he wanted Cathi to be with him.
We told Laura about project Ethiopia.  She came up with the suggestion that James should make it his Eagle Project.  I thought that was a great idea so I told Jared.  He liked it too.

I didn't get to watch "DWTS" tonight.  Sheri and Kim both had FHE first.

I love these two boys, Joshua and Evan.  That had so much fun playing together today.  Joshua built a "Snake Castle" with the blocks.  In the next picture they are watching Ninjago season one on the computer.

The problem with going back and forth between two houses is you forget what you have where.  This morning James informed me that we were out of toilet paper.  I also noticed we had no ketchup but I have three huge bottles at the cabin so I refused to buy anymore. No one should ever be without either of these things.

I wanted to wash my car today at Sam's Club but their car wash wasn't working.  I ended up at Cobblestone and spent over $25 which included getting my mats shampooed.  My car looks beautiful!

We heard the news that Jen and Michael Baxter are moving.  They had there house on the market two days and got 32 offers.  They are moving to the Val Vista and Riggs area.  Michael was a ward clerk when James was the bishop.

We had dinner at Black Angus this evening because we had a coupon that expired today.  We still spent $50.

Paid property taxes today.

In an article in this month's Ensign by Elder Dallin H. Oaks I found the following quote: "I affirm the great truth that our Heavenly Father loves all His children. This is an immensely powerful idea that children can begin to understand through the love and sacrifice of their earthly parents. Love is the most powerful force in the world. I pray that every parent is providing the kind of loving example that encourages the rising generation to understand the love of God toward them and the great desire of our Heavenly Father that all of His children on earth do what is necessary to qualify for the choicest blessings of eternity."
I worked in the yard this morning. A storm is supposed to be moving in so I wasn't sure if I needed to water, but I did anyway. While working I wore by bright green shirt I bought at Walmart for $4.48. I certainly didn't want to get pinched by anyone passing by.
James, Joe and Michael were home by 3pm. James was wearing is Mountain Man outfit which included his coon skin cap and the shirt that I made him. He looked so cool, but boy did he small like a campfire! They all had a great time and I guess the fried chicken was a big hit. Now comes the fun part of unpacking and putting everything away.
Kim, Brian, Joe and Michael left for the cabin this evening. I am a little worred and hope they make it before the storm hits.
James and I had dinner at Black Angus this evening. I had some coupons but I left them at home. We ended up spending about $60 and I felt guilty. It was nice to spend some time together. We really missed each other!
