Elder D. Todd Christofferson
Of The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
The truth of God refers to the core truths that underlie His plan of happiness for His children. These truths are that God lives; that He is the Heavenly Father of our spirits; that as a manifestation of His love, He has given us commandments that lead to a fulness of joy with Him; that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Redeemer; that He suffered and died to atone for sins on condition of our repentance; that He rose from the dead, bringing to pass the Resurrection of all humankind; and that we will all stand before Him to be judged, that is, to account for our lives.

Restoration Proclamation
P6 S4
He invites all of us to come unto Him and His Church, to receive the Holy Ghost, the ordinances of salvation, and to gain enduring joy.

The Living Christ
P7 S1
Of Him the Prophet also declared: "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, that is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!

This morning at 8 a.m. in the Relief Society room the Elder's Quorum presidency and the Relief Society presidency had a meeting with our high councilman, Brother Wright. James and I both attended.
The discussion was about our responsibilities regarding family history. James and I both have the assignment of working with the family history consultant. Brother Peeler is our family history leader but a new one is being called. James and I are both hoping for Collin DeWitt but we need to have the bishop's approval and he wants to use Collin in the Young Men's. I think he could do both.

James bore his testimony during our fast and testimony meeting today. The first thing he said was that he wanted to bear his testimony to honor his baptismal covenant and stand as a witness for Jesus Christ. Others who bore their testimonies:
Pierce Goodman, Tamara Applegate, Colter Hunsaker (12), Michelle Tesarek's two children, Benson Grapp (11), Tina Allen, Alicia Hunsaker, Chris Skousen, Brother Gilbert and Jimmy Applegate.
James helped pass the sacrament during the sacrament portion of the meeting. After the meeting I had a ministering interview with Becky Skousen. James had a presidency meeting so I went home without him.
We fasted today for Jared Ammon and for other of our grandchildren who are struggling.

At 6:00 this evening we had our weekly "Come Follow Me" meeting at the Peeler's.  I had listened to Ben Wilcox's "Teaching with Power" today and gained some insights about section 20, The Constitution of the Church. He discusses the six foundation principles of the church found in section 20. The first foundation is Authority and is taught in the following verses: 2, 3, 26, 58, 60, 63-67, 73. I marked all of these verses with a blue colored pencil. Next is doctrine and most of the doctrine is found in verses 17-36. I marked these verses with a green colored pencil and we read them together this evening as part of our study. This is some of the doctrine taught in these verses: the Atonement, the reality of God, scriptures, baptism, grace, commandments, Resurrection, faith, the gift of the Holy Ghost, prophets, creation and repentance.
Verses 38-69 are tied together by one word found in each of the following verses: 38, 46, 53, 68, 81. The word is duty. I used an orange pencil to mark duty. A duty is a moral or legal obligation. A task or action that one is required to perform.

The next foundational principle is Ordinances. Ordinances are found in verses 37, 70-79. Baptism is discussed in verse 37 and blessings and baptism are discussed in 70-74. 75-79 The sacrament is taught and the sacramental prayers are cited. I marked ordinances with a pink pencil. Jesus Christ is the next foundation principle and is found in the following verses: 1, 2, 4, 9, 29, 30, 31, 37, 38, 40, 68, 70, 71, 73, 75, 77, 79, 80, 81. I underlined the words Jesus Christ in all of these verses. Why is Jesus Christ such an important foundation for the Church?

The last foundational principle is Order. This word only appears once in the entire section, but the idea is illustrated all throughout. The word is found in verse 68. I marked order with a purple pencil.

The Church is founded on Authority, Doctrine, Duty, Ordinances, Jesus Christ, and Order. I am grateful for all of these foundations but most of all I am grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Donna had prepared us some delicious bran muffins and fresh pears for refreshments. She always has the most healthy desserts. We left around 7:30 because we are Facetiming with Jared, Kacey, and Charlie this evening. Did I mention that the Goodman's were not here this evening because Barbara is sick. We said a prayer for her.

After FaceTiming with Jared, Kacey, Charlie, and Scarlett, we watched the new episode of "When Calls the Heart."

Happy Sabbath with these two cuties!

Sweet little Malea

Good job Jared!
Happy birthday Tanner!
