Jesus Christ Atonement through
Moroni 8:20
And he that saith that little children need baptism denieth the mercies of Christ, and setteth at naught the atonement of him and the power of his redemption.
Book of Mormon
1 Nephi 4:1-19
*Have you ever been "led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which you should do?"
I don't think so, if so, I can't recall.
Old Testament Reading
Genesis 9-10, Abraham 1-2
Genesis 9
Noah and his sons are commanded to multiply and fill the earth-They are given dominion over all forms of life-The death penalty is decreed for murder-God will not again destroy the earth by a flood-Canaan is cursed; Shem and Japheth are blessed.
Genesis 10
The descendants of Noah are Japheth, whose descendants are Gentiles; Ham, whose descendants include the Caanaanites; and Shem of whom came Peleg (in whose days the earth was divided).
Abraham 1
Abraham seeks the blessings of the patriarchal order-He is persecuted by false priests in Chaldea-Jehovah saves him-The origins and government of Egypt are reviewed.
Abraham 2
Abraham leaves Ur to go to Cannaan-Jehovah appears to him at Haran-All gospel blessings are promised to his seed and through his seed to all-He goes to Canaan and on to Egypt.
O.T./P.G.P. Scripture Mastery
Genesis 39:9
There is none greater in this house than I; either hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

The Needs Before Us

"Showing kindness and concern for your siblings and parents helps create an atmosphere of unity and invites the Spirit into the home. Changing the world begins with strengthening your own family."

I love this quote from "Rescuing Wayward Children":
"The miracle of God's work is that weak things are divinely empowered to accomplish great things."

James worked outside today digging a waterline.

He's got big plans for our backyard.

We made a trip to town today. We got dinner at Taco Bell and also got two quarts of hot and sour soup at the Chinese buffet right by Taco Bell.

We got the new Renee Ryan book in the mail today. It's called "Journey's End."
Woohoo! I think James was more excited
than I was.

This evening when we got home we watched an old "Garage Sale Mystery" and an episode of "Heartland."

Mosiah 27:18-37
* In my scriptures I have a post-it with Alma, Before and After written on it.  On the before side I have written the description of Alma before he saw the angel as recorded in Mosiah 27:8-10.  On the after side I have written how he was after he saw the angel as recorded in Mosiah 27:23-24, 28-29.  This helps me to remember the importance of repentance and how powerful it is.
* How have you been changed through the Atonement of Jesus Christ as you have repented and done your best to follow the Savior?
Gospel Principle: Each of us must be born again through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
Mormon 4-5
4 War and carnage continue; The wicked punish the wicked; Greater wickedness prevails than ever before in all Israel; Women and children are sacrificed to idols; The Lamanites begin to sweep the Nephites before them. About A.D. 363-75.
5 Mormon again leads the Nephite armies in battles of blood and carnage; The Book of Mormon will come forth to convince all Israel that Jesus is the Christ; Because of their unbelief, the Lamanites will be scattered, and the Spirit will cease to strive with them; They will receive the gospel from the Gentiles in the latter days. About A.D. 375-84.
DC 72:1-26
Elders are to render an account of their stewardship unto the bishop; The bishop keeps the storehouse and cares for the poor and needy; bishops are to certify the worthiness of elders.
General Conference
Stand Up Inside and Be All In
Elder Gary B. Sabin
"Conference is a time of reflection, revelation and sometimes redirection. "If the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.  All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him.'-Ezekiel 18:21-22.
What a fabulous promise, but it requires two alls to receive the promise of the third.  Turn from all; keep all; then all is forgiven.  This requires being all in!"

James and I had prayer together before he left for work.  For breakfast I had a shake, a blueberry muffin, blueberries and chocolate.  I played several games of Solitaire before I actually accomplished anything this morning.  Games are such a time waster!
I finished my Sunday post before starting my gospel study.  Part of my gospel study was the Gordon B. Hinckley lesson called "The Precious Gift of Testimony."  This was a wonderful lesson.  My testimony of Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ and the Restoration of the Gospel, including the Book of Mormon are my most precious possession.  I loved the examples President Hinckley shared of the lives of individual members of the Church and how they gained their testimonies.

James came home for a lunch break a little after 11.  We went to Pei Wei for lunch and beat the crowd.  While we were eating the line went out the door.  We ordered lettuce wraps to share and James ordered Mongolian beef with rice and I had the spicy chicken salad.  It was a delicious lunch.

I did some blogging later this afternoon for Monday and Tuesday while eating my leftover alfredo noodles from Olive Garden. Why do all my posts contain something about food?
James came home and said my worries were over.  I asked him what he meant and he said Susan J. is engaged.  I teased him about her being his girlfriend.  She is marrying someone who is a sealer in the Phoenix temple.

We got ready and left for Lois's around 4:45 to give her the mothers day card that Anna made for her.  We got an added bonus because Dawn was home too.  Our visit was short because we wanted to stop to get Addy some flowers before attending her last choir concert of the year.  We stopped at the Fry's on McClintock and Baseline.  They had a big display of flowers and James picked out a nice bouquet.  I think Addy will like them.  In the meantime, the candy bar I got her melted in my purse.  If I would have noticed sooner I could have gotten her another one while in Fry's.

Highland High School is on Power and Guadalupe.  We arrived a little early and saved a row for Trina, the kids, and Trina's parents.
During the first number Ruby says to me: "They sang this song last time."  I said: "What?  Is this a rerun?"  Lola loves Trina's parents but she did sit on my lap for awhile.  The concert wasn't too long and after it was over James gave Addy her flowers.

My friend Jean at Lone Butte buffet.
A good place to eat.

Summer and Tanner getting ready for
scripture study on the grounds of the
San Antonio temple.

New hats for Paul and  Joshua.

I want my porch and yard to look like this.

Scout is all grown up.

Padre Island

Today our scripture reading was Alma 1:1-14.  Here are some notes I took:
People care for the poor and the Church prospers.  Alma becomes the Chief Judge and the High Priest over the Church.  Nehor teaches that all men will have eternal life.  Gideon withstood him and Nehor kills Gideon.  Priestcraft is introduced and is enforced by the sword.  1:16 - priestcraft is "preaching false doctrines ... for the sake of riches and honor."  1:7-9 - Gideon "was an instrument in the hands of God."  1: 13-15 - Nehor suffers an ignomonious death which is a shameful death.

"The Greatest Leaders are the Greatest Followers."  Brother Owen, the Young Men's President.
"There will be times when the path ahead seems dark, but keep following the Savior.
He knows t he way, in fact, He is the way."

James and I had lunch with our friends Blain and Diana Curtis.  When we went to get in the truck, I noticed it had a flat tire.
James put air in the tire and we were on our way.  We parked the truck at the Curtis's and drove with them to Show Low. We followed Dennis and Denise's recommendation and tried The House Restaurant.
It was very casual and the menu is very small, featuring appetizers, salads, and sandwiches.
Blain and Diana both ordered The Show Low sandwich which is described as: 8oz. bacon laced ground pork, crisp bacon, carved ham, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle aioli.
James ordered the Founder: slow cooked pork shoulder, spinach, tomato, green chili aioli.
I ordered the Chicken of Clubs: grilled chicken breast, bacon, pepper jack, avocado, spinach, tomato, and red pepper aioli.
James was the only one who didn't like his sandwich.

Our sandwiches came with chips and were served in a box.  I did not like the fact that I had to eat out of the box but the food was good enough that I would come back again.
Diana and I shared a piece of decadent cherry cheesecake with shortbread crust.  It was delicious!
 Our friends the Curtis's
They are awesome.

I got a call from Sister West who is  the cleaning co-ordinator for the temple.  She wants to meet with us Wednesday night and train us.  Our first assignment is on Thursday, May 26th, at the beginning of Memorial Day weekend.  We are responsible to get 20 people there.  Yikes!

I took a little nap this afternoon while James put a plug in the tire.  He is going to the valley tomorrow and doesn't want to wake up to a flat tire.
After my nap I worked on my Primary lesson and Article of Faith notebooks for my class, and my blog.  I like to watch "Chopped" while I am working at my computer.

James came in a little late so before he was ready for FHE I watched part of DWTS.  I will watch the rest tomorrow.  I heard the news that Antonio and Wanya went home.  Wanya was my second favorite after Paige.  I am sad.  Nyle, Ginger and Paige are in the finale.  I hope Paige wins.

For FHE we listened to Brother Owen's talk and then read from our ebook, "A Lady's Favor."

I love this memory from my photo collection:
Max wears the 'stache well.

Another tiny house.  This one is for Hobbits.

We had 24 elk in our yard this morning and James had a photo shoot.

We read 1Nephi 17:48-13:4 for our scripture study.  I always say our morning prayer, and James says the one at night.  I also studied two conference talks.

Molly learned how to ride her bike today.  Tricia posted a video on Facebook.  Congratulations Molly!

James had a doctors appointment with an ear specialist today.  We started a new book on the way to town.
This is book one in a series of three.

It was a beautiful day today with the high around 45.
I vacuumed and dusted today.
This evening we had elk in our yard again.  They got spooked when my visiting teacher, Becky Skousen came by for a visit.

James is congested so we sleep on the recliners tonight.
We watch a movie called "Jack's Family Adventure."
I "see" a group of people in the entryway  Someone is holding an animal in their arms, it looks like a baby lamb, and the group is dressed in biblical clothes.  I can't go to sleep.  Not only am I seeing things but I am also thinking about my kids and grandkids and the challenges they have right now in their lives.

Golf cart path at Desert Highlands
James finished this job today.
Along with reading from the New Testament and the Book of Mormon, I have also been listening to two conference talks a day.

Joel was here at 6:30 to finish painting downstairs  Michael was displaced to the couch in the family room.
Around 7:30 Ben came down and mowed the lawn while Max helped me load up boxes and take them to Central Self-Storage.  When we returned he helped me downstairs and so did Ben.  We cleaned the craft room an when Joel was finished painting Michael came down and I helped him clean his room.  The basement looks good except for paint spots on the carpet, and an old TV which needs to be removed.

Our realtor, Jen Maclay, came over for a walk through this afternoon.  The meeting went quite well with some suggestions from her.  We need to power wash all of the porches, sidewalks, and driveway as well as the back patio.  She also thinks it would be a good idea to remove the popcorn ceiling and old wallpaper in the master bedroom.  I told her that would probably take us a week or so.  She said she would check back next Thursday.

This afternoon I went shopping at Costco for "the" chocolate cake for Stacy.  She wants it for Jared Ammon's birthday.  I also went to Walmart and got some Krud Kutter to help remove the wallpaper in the master bedroom.  I brought back some brisket sandwiches from Costco for our dinner.  We decided we didn't really like them that much.

James and I started our new book "Secret of Pembrooke Park."
I also started removing the wallpaper in the bedroom.  It is going to take awhile.

Idaho Falls Temple
Kim, Brian, Joe, Michael, and Alex stopped by Disneyland for a few hours before coming back home.  I guess Brian and Kim have season passes.

I still hurt a ton and have the blahs.  Tiffany at AARA says six aspirin a day is too many for me to take and she wants me to take Tylenol instead.  While I was "napping" Dave came over to help James with the lights downstairs.  I didn't know Laura came with him and totally missed visiting with her. I hate not feeling well!  Dallin was here with his guitar and he sang to her.

The battery in my car died today.  James had to walk home from Winco, and then go get a new battery.
We got a thank you note from Emmy today that went something like this:
Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
Thank you so much for giving me money when you didn't have to.  You really made my day.  Thank you thank you, and thank you!!!
I can't express how grateful I am!!!
Thankful

This is a scene on the road from Show Low to Vernon.  The places where they cleared trees is now covered with Verbina.
For some reason I can't enlarge pictures on
Blogger today.
James and I finished "Maid of Fairbourne Hall" and luckily our next book came today.  It's by the same author, Julie Klassen, and is called, "The Girl in the Gatehouse."

For dinner James got me bbq pork from, green beans and mashed potatoes from Boston Market.  For some reason it didn't look good to me and I put it in the frig for another day and made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Today is "Mountie Monday".
This is Jack, my favorite Mountie.
Seth is gone to EFY this week in Flagstaff.  Alex worked a full 8 hours today.  He painted and he hates to paint, but that is mainly what we need him to do.

These kids got to go to Sunsplash today!

Joshua spent some time with his cousins today for
Zane's birthday.  The got to go to Hamilton pool.
Aaron and his family are in town too.

For lunch today it was a flatbread turkey sandwich from Quiznos with honey mustard dressing.  Another trip to 108th Avenue with James.  Today we started a new book, it's the one Jared got me for mother's day: "A Heart Revealed."
The author is LDS on this one
I took two Tramadol's this afternoon.  It doesn't get rid of the pain but it takes the edge off and makes it bearable.

Stacy finished all of her laundry today.  We will be without a washer and a dryer for a few days as they lay tile in the laundry room.  I did our laundry on Saturday.

They sacrificed everything so we can be free.
Thank you to all those who have served or are now serving
in the armed forces.

I went with James this morning out to Dan Taylor's to pick up our cabinet doors.  Dan told us he couldn't find the right color of lacquer to match the old ones but James told him to go ahead and spray them.  We definitely have two-toned cabinets.  Stacy and Paul don't like them, James does, of course, and I'm not sure what I think.  It seems that Murphy's Law is alive and well in this home renovation project.

A new trend, two-toned cabinets

Dallin worked in the kitchen today for several hours cleaning out drawers and cupboards and putting in new shelf paper.  I also cleaned out several cupboards.

James had a meeting in Phoenix today about a job for Bowen.  I told him to please not schedule any jobs until we get this house on the market and he promised me he wouldn't.

James and I started our new book today. It's another one by the author Sarah Ladd.
Another good book

We had dinner at Chikfila this evening.
