Jesus Christ, Divine Sonship
1 John 4:10
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

New Testament "Come Follow Me"
Luke 18:1-14 The unjust judge and the importune widow

General Conference
The Power of Sustaining Faith
President Henry B. Eyring
"The fact that you are in mortality now assures us that you sustained the Father and the Savior. It took faith in Jesus Christ to sustain the plan of happiness and Jesus Christ's place in it when you knew so little of the challenges that you would face in mortality."

My reading in the Book of Mormon today took me to the meeting of Gideon and Nehor where Nehor slays Gideon for his beliefs. Would I be so bold as Gideon to stand up for what I believe in knowing that I would die for it?

I was especially touched in my reading of the New Testament today with uke 18:13 ...God be merciful to me, a sinner.

Sorry to see two of the great ones leave this life, Doris Day and Tim Conway. We can still enjoy seeing them on screen though. I love Tim Conway in the Hallmark movie he made, "Surprised by Love" with two of my favorites, Hilarie Burton and Paul Campbell.
I own many Doris Day movies and love to watch them. Back in the 60's she was my favorite movie star.

I reordered the book we sold today because we made over $15.

I stretched the truth today to protect myself. Do I feel guilty? A little but sometimes a girl has to look out for herself or she is no good to anyone else. No further details are forthcoming.

I listened to the Book Profits webinar this morning with four of the six figure earners, Barry, Herman, Jim, and Kris. They are good but I'm not sure I will ever devote as much time and energy to book buying as they do.

James is going to be home this evening and I am so excited to see him. He's been gone since early Monday morning.

I made one of my dot journals my food journal.

Plain on the outside, fancy on the inside.

I watched a couple of older Kellie Martin movies on Hallmark today and loved them both. "I Married Who?" and "So You Said Yes."

I love a beautiful sunset, expecially when
it includes clouds!

 I miss Abigail!

I didn't like what I saw today from my bedroom deck,
but James assured me the fence they are building will
benefit us. I just like my privacy.

Jesus Christ, Death of
Acts 2:24
Book of Mormon #1
Ether 3:1-16
* Elder Jeffrey R. Holland has said, in regards to the brother of Jared seeing the spiritual, premortal Jesus Christ: "Perhaps Christ was sying to the brother of Jared, 'Never have I shown myself unto man in this manner, without my volition, driven solely by the faith of the beholder.' As a rule, prophets are invited into the presence of the Lord, are bidden to enter his presence by him and only with his sanction. The brother of Jared, on the other hand, seems to have thrust himself through the veil, not as an unwelcome guest but perhaps technically as an uninvited one. Said Jehovah: 'Never has man come before me with such exceeding faith as thou hast; for were it not so ye could not have seen my finger...Never has man believed in me as thou hast.' Obviously the Lord himself was linking unprecedented faith with this unprecedented vision. If the vision itself was not unique, then it had to be the faith and how the vision was obtained that was unparalleled. The only way that faith could be so remarkable was its ability to take the prophet, uninvited, where others had been able to go only with God's bidding."

Laying the Foundation of a Great Work
Elder Steven R. Bangerter
"Lessons taught through the traditions we establish in our homes, though small and simple, are increasingly important in today's world. What are the small and simple things that, when established, will perform a great work in the lives of our children?"

I was up early enough to see Trina before she left for work but not Addy before she left for school. Addy leaves at 5:30.
Darrel took Rowan and Ruby to school and then he and Lola went to the gym.

James is so worried about his job because the City of Mesa is so difficult to work with. He hopes that they get permits today but I'm not so sure. We left Darrel and Trina's at 9:30 and dropped off my things at Kim's before she left for work. Tiger, their big cat, checks out my stuff.

Our next stop was the UPS store at the Andersen Fiesta shopping center on Chandler Blvd and Dobson. We sent the Christmas stockings to Texas and Ben's Christmas package to Idaho. It feels good to have everything mailed early.

On to Kyrene and Warner to a landscaping job that Armando is working on to give him a check for supervising James's job while he is in the hospital. From here we got on the 101 North and headed for Shea Blvd. to the Honor Health hospital which is about 30 miles away.

The doctor told James to use the valet parking, put they were full so we had to find our own parking space behind the hospital in a medical center. As a result it was a little after 11 when James checked in. He was supposed to be there at 11. Admissions took awhile and then we were escorted to the 2nd floor where they do surgery. I was invited to go back in preop to say goodbye to James. As they wheeled him back to surgery I said goodbye and went back out to the waiting room where Stacy was waiting for me.
A Mr. Lopez began talking to us and we pretty much got his life story. He was a nice man but soon we excused ourselves and went down to the cafeteria. I had a green chili burro and Stacy had a pulled pork sandwich. The dining area was closed because of a recent fire so we went outside on the patio to eat.

When we went back upstairs we sat in a different waiting area to avoid Mr. Lopez so we could talk. Stacy told me about laser technology and Joshua and Evan running for mayor of Biz Town along with six other kids. Stacy said Joshua had a meltdown because he doesn't think he's popular and he won't win anyway so he should just give up.  Paul suggested that they use famous quotes used by Presidents of the United States in his speech. One of the quotes they used was "Ask not what Biz Town can do for you but what you can do for Biz Town." At the end he said that if he was elected he would recommend a 30 second dance every 30 minutes and then he proceeded to do a little dance. He won by a landslide and as a result made Evan feel sad. When Evan found out that Paul wrote Josh's speech he didn't feel so bad.

Jared Ammon is home and he brought a 3 1/2 chihuahua with him. Stacy says he spends most of the day on the couch watching sports.

The surgery started around 1:15 and Stacy stayed for about 3 hours. As she left Kim was coming, I'm surprised they didn't see each other.

Dr. Crandall, the surgeon came out and told Kim and I that the surgery went very well and that James would be in recovery for a couple of hours. It was actually 3. Kim had to leave.

I waited for James upstairs in room 5306 and was there when he arrived and I stayed all night. He was very groggy.
Darrel came by this evening at sat with us for awhile. It's a 35 mile drive from where he lives. Thank you Darrel.

Jesus Christ, Creation
Genesis 1:26
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Moses 2:26-27
And I, God, said unto mine Only Begotten, which was with me from the beginning: Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and it was so. And I, God, said: Let them have dominion over the fishes of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 And I, God, created man in mine own image, in the image of min Only Begotten created I him; male and female created I them.
Book of Mormon
Alma 22:27-23:7
*How can we become so converted to the Lord that we never will fall away?
-James Lambson: "First, we have to develop the disposition to only do good and resist evil. We have to begin to be converted, ie., keep the commandments because we love the Lord not just because we know we are supposed to. Then things that are not important begin to fall away from our lives and with greater frequency we begin to be directed by the Spirit because at that point, belief has turned into knowledge. It's like a light being turned on in the darkness, and we become happy inspite of trials because of the eternal perspective of the gospel.
Old Testament
1 Chronicles 15-16
15 David prepares a place for the ark - The Levites bring the ark to Jerusalem - They sing and minister before the Lord.
16 People offer sacrifices and praise the Lord - David delivers a psalm of thanksgiving - He praises the Lord - Asaph, Obededom, Zadok, and others minister before the Lord.

James and I had scriptures and prayer this morning before he left to fix a problem at the place where he worked yesterday, and then on to Taylor to take the tractor in to be fixed so he can give it to Brother Howard.
A good breakfast is important

I heard this morning from Stacy about coming up next week, Kim about a castle they are visiting today, Sheri about their trip to Scotland, and Kacey who wants Lois's enchilada recipe. I also heard from Trina last night. It's nice to hear from one's family.

I finally  worked out my Deseret Book Plus account and was able to download President Eyring's biography, "I Will Lead You Along." I have had the book for quite sometime but have never read it. Now I can listen to it. I love President Eyring and his sweet testimony.

James saw some antelope today between our house and the Crane's. There were six does and one fawn. He said this means the coyotes probably got 11 of the fawns because most does have two babies. How sad. Later in our yard we saw four does, and one buck and a fawn right outside of our bedroom door.

I worked on stripping the floor for a couple of hours today. This afternoon I went to see my friend Jean to help her with family history. I forgot my wifi so I couldn't register her on familysearch, but I did have her fill out the family booklet the Church has put out. Jean had a sad childhood and hardly knew her real father.

I came home just about the time James was arriving at the Howard's. He had a blowout on the trailer taking the tractor to Taylor. James is going to do some repair work on the Howard's home while they are gone on vacation to Illinois to see Brother Howard's mother and Jean's daughter Kathy.

At home I made myself and James green smoothies, and did my walking. At 6:45 I left for the Church to have presidency meeting with Kerri and Tamara. We worked on the visiting teaching board and discussed who could be our new secretary since Laurann has asked to be released. We met for 2 hours and then had to go home because of priesthood. Tamara said she would finish at home and have the assignments ready for Sunday.

As we went outside there was a full moon and Kerri let out a howl.

Tamara's son Ty was waiting to drive her home. Is he really old enough to drive. I remember him as a cute little kid who fell out of a tree and broke him arm.

Elder McConkie writes a psalm of praise to the Lord.

It's known as the most haunted castle in Scotland.
We are going to have lunch and then go on a tour.

That Your Joy Might Be Full
Sister Jean B. Bingham
"No matter what we have suffered, He is the source of healing. Those who have experienced any manner of abuse, devastating loss, chronic illness or disabling affliction, untrue accusations, vicious persecution, or spiritual damage from sin or misunderstandings can all be made whole by the Redeemer of the world. However, He will not enter without invitation We must come unto Him and allow Him to work His miracles."

We left for the valley a little after 9 this morning. James had to turn the water off because it is going to get down below freezing while we are gone.

Our first stop on the road was at Burger House where we got three burros for lunch, one for each of us, and one to share only James ended up eating all of the third one because I was full.

We arrived at Trina and Darrel's around 12:40. James passed up the Signal Butte exit because I was reading to him and he wasn't paying attention. Trina and Lola were waiting for us.

We unloaded the car and James went to take a quick shower because we are supposed to meet Sheri at the temple at 1:30. We leave late because I am visiting with Lola and don't arrive at the temple until 1:40. Sheri is nowhere to be found. I hurry and get dressed and go upstairs. There is only one patron in the chapel so I ask a worker about the 2 o'clock session. He says it started at 1:45. I would have made it had it been at 2 so it is partly Sheri's fault for telling me the wrong time and partly my fault for being late. I wait in the chapel for the 2:30 session wondering where James is. I just figured he made it to Sheri's session. Sheri said she was going to go to the 2 o'clock session no matter what, she wasn't waiting for us. I guess she is stressed about time because she also said she couldn't come with us to the movie tonight.

After my session I go out to the car and talk to James. He did not attend any session because he forgot his pants and the temple did not have any in his size.

He felt so bad. I felt bad for him. We go through Panda Express before going back to Darrel and Trina's. Trina is leaving to take friends of the kids home when we get back. We just meet her later at the Crossroads theater at Germann and Gilbert because we thought Kim and Brian and maybe Stacy were coming to see "The Greatest Showman" with us.  They didn't end up coming and we could have gone to a theater closer to Trina's because she and her kids were the only ones who came with us.

We loved the movie! Afterwards we had a quick visit with Brother and Sister Tomlinson. He was the young men's president when James was our bishop and now he is a bishop.

Darrel is home when we get there and Trina tells him that her brakes are very loud and need to be replaced.

Lola falls asleep but earlier she told me she wanted me to sleep in her bed, because I was a girl. James beat me to it.

A great family movie!

Too dark. Look at Ruby at the top.

Too bad James didn't get to do a session.

Trina and Darrel's new couch from Costco  is
just like the one Sheri and Ian got.
They are couch twins.

Jackson's match. That's his sister filming it to
show his dad who is in the hospital.

Of course he got first.

Tina's post. Tina is Jackson's mom and
Steve is his dad.

For the first time this year Talon got first too!!
