Jesus Christ, Divine Sonship
1 Nephi 10:17
And it came to pass after I, Nephi, having heard all the words of my father, concerning the things which he saw in a vision, and also the things which he spake by the power of the Holy Ghost, which power he received by faith on the Son of God - and the Son of God was the Messiah who should come - I, Nephi, was desirous also that I might see, and hear, and know of these things, by the power of the Holy Ghost, which is the gift of God unto all those who diligently seek him, as well in times of old as in the time that he should manifest himself unto the children of men.
Book of Mormon
Alma 3:1-19
New Testament "Come Follow Me"
Matt 21:1-11; Mark 11:1-11; Luke 19:28-40; John 12:1-19

General Conference
Christ: The Light That Shines in Darkness
Sharon Eubank
"Seeing darkness where I expected to see light reminded me that one of the fundamental needs we have in order to grow is to stay connected to our source of light - Jesus Christ. He is the source of our power, the Light and Life of the World. Without a strong connection to Him, we begin to spiritually die."

Russell M. Nelson: You can pray all you want, you can hope all you want, but until the law is fulfilled upon which that blessing is
predicated, it won't happen."

Bruce R. McConkie says that: "Our greatest blessing is the daily manifestation of His Spirit."

I read an article in Meridian Magazine today about repentance. Here are some notes from that article:
"I grew up thinking that repentance was an emergency brake. Now, I know it is really the steering wheel. I literally cannot move forward without carefully using it everyday. Stay away from seven deadly sins: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride.
If I use repentance like an emergency brake, I am not likely to win many races. But, if I use God's love as my gas pedal and repentance as my steering wheel I can leave sin and despair at the starting line Every time I turn to Him I am repenting." - Tom Obenchain

It was cold, windy, and rainy today and we even got some snow!

I got a text from my neighbor Kathy today. She is the compassionate service leader in our ward and is taking dinner to a sister in our ward, Sister Finnell. Sister Finnell broke her hand yesterday morning and is not able to use it at all. Kathy asked me if I would bring some of my delicious cookies to the Finnell's. Of course I said I would. Thankfully I had some cookies in the freezer. I made up a plate of cookies and when Kathy came to pick me up at 5:00 I was ready.

It was about 39 degrees and Kathy asked me where my jacket was. I told her I didn't need it because I wasn't going to be outside. The drive to the Finnell's was beautiful. They live across the road from the Wallace's, the most beautiful part of Vernon. They actually have a Lakeside address. Everything is so pretty and green. The Finnell's have a small home but it is beautiful and in a beautiful setting.
Linda's sister Kathy is staying with her to help her until Thursday. They were most appreciative for the dinner. Kathy's homemade chicken noodle soup is quite delicious. She also included rolls, biscuits, and a jar of jam. I was worried that my cookies were going to be to hard. I told Linda to put them in the microwave for a few minutes before eating them. Linda has a doctor's appointment on Wednesday and he will examine her wrist and she will know if she is going to have to have surgery.

Today is my friend Pam's birthday. I wished her a happy birthday and asked if she prayed for snow. She was happy with the snow.

Sold a textbook.

Jared spoke with the new attorney. He is still going to have to pay alimony for four more years. No way to get out of it legally. So sad.

I will be posting Ben's letter for this week. He is quite the preacher.

Watched the newest Hailey Dean mystery. That's the end of the season until next year. It was good but I don't save the murder mysteries on my TV. I watch them and erase them, not like the others shows which I save until Sheri comes up to watch them with me.

A snowy day in May

My friend says Mother Nature is
bi-polar. This is a wild Iris
James found on a sunny day.

She makes everyday sunny!

Jesus Christ, Death of
1 Corinthians 11:26
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
Book of Mormon #1
Ether 6:12-30
*We learn that the Jaredites were taught the importance of humility. Modern revelation also teaches us the importance of humility:'Be thou humble; and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand and give thee answers to thy prayers.' (DC 112:10). Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin explained that 'humility is the recognition and attitude that one must rely on the Lord's assistance to make it through life.' (CR, Oct 2004, 110).

Firm and Steadfast in the Faith of Christ
Elder D. Todd Christofferson
"To persevere firm and steadfast in the faith of Christ requires that the gospel of Jesus Christ penetrate one's heart and soul, meaning that the gospel becomes not just one of many influences in a person's life but the defining focus of his or her life and character. The Lord says: 'A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
'And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
'And...ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.'"

I ordered James an omlet with tomatoes, onions, ham, spinach and cheese and a side of O'Brien potatoes. It looked really good as I ate my yogurt with berries.

I was going to help James with a bath but an x-ray tech came in to take him for a chest x-ray. I told the aide on duty that I was leaving, hoping he would help James with a bath...no such luck.

I went home to Kim's to take a shower and to do some laundry.
Kim has turned her kitchen into a cookie factory. She is making 25 cookie plates and each plate has five or six different kinds of cookies. I hope she doesn't wear herself out.

While Kim was baking Brian was doing errands and I was washing clothes and reading. Brian had a lunch date at Dickey's BBQ and he brought Kim and I back some lunch. We had brisket that was so tender that it melted in your mouth, macaroni and cheese, beans, and rolls. It was delicious! He also went to the store and asked if there was anything he could get me. I asked if he could get some Slimfast shakes, dark chocolate, for James. He said yes he could.

Stacy came over for a few minutes this afternoon. She brought Jared Ammon's dog, Sophie with her. The dog was shaking but finally calmed down. That dog needs a mani/pedi.

I went back to the hospital and Sheri met me there. James was awake but he had not had a bath. He was practicing blowing on one of his devices.

 Sounds like a sick elk

That container in front contained some of the
brisket I brought back for James.

Nurse Ana came in to say hello. She was happy to know that James is off the oxygen and is on the mend. He is breathing fine on his own.

The top one is his oxygen saturation level.

Sheri brought dark chocolate covered Cello cherries, 2 boxes for James and Ghiradelli milk chocolate squares filled with caramel and a Sonic cherry limeade for me.

Sheri and I walked over to Marshall's and did a little shopping. Sheri also went to the DSW store to look for shoes. She has always been a shoe buff.

After Sheri left we watched the Hallmark channel and I stayed until Kim and Brian got home from seeing Jim Gaffagin. I don't want to go to their house when they aren't there because of their fancy alarm system.

I love everything about this girl!

 Very pretty!

Jesus Christ Authority of
Jeremiah 23:5
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
Book of Mormon
1 Nephi 16:17-39
*What are some examples that prove "that by small means the Lord can bring about great things."
*How can we liken the scriptures unto the Liahona given to Lehi's family?
Old Testament
Genesis 50
Jacob's body is embalmed - Joseph buries him in Canaan - Joseph comforts his brothers - The children of Israel multiply - Joseph promises that God will bring Israel out of Egypt into Canaan - Joseph dies in Egypt and is embalmed.
Old Testament Scripture Mastery
Isaiah 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Exceeding Great and Precious Promises
Elder David A. Bednar
"The Sabbath day and the holy temple are two specific sources of
divine help instituted by God to assist us in rising above the level and corruption of the world. We initially may think that the overarching purposes of keeping the Sabbath day holy and attending the temple are related but distinctive. I believe, however, that those two purposes are precisely the same and work together to strengthen us spiritually as individuals and in our homes. Thus, on the Sabbath we worship the Father in the name of the Son by participating in ordinances and learning about, receiving, remembering, and renewing covenants. On His holy day, our thoughts, actions, and demeanor are signs we give to God and an indication of our love for Him."

Happy 70th Birthday James!

An amazing wrestler

A great fisherman

A great kisser

He is so strong

A great sense of humor

A great partner

He has great taste in cars

A great eternal companion

An awesome dad and family man!

I made my man a nice breakfast this morning. It is usually him that cooks in the mornings.

David told James that when he turned 70 he no longer has to pay for a hunting and fishing license. You are considered a "Pioneer" and it covers everything!  I guess sometimes it pays to get old! Of course we had to take a drive up to Pinetop to the Game and Fish department to pick one up. This brought back fond memories for James because this is where he worked a couple of summers when we were first married. He actually helped stock fish in the various streams and lakes in the White Mountain area. At the end of the day he reported back to this office.

We got to Darbi's after 2 o'clock and it was closed so we ate at LaCasita. Here's what James's late lunch looked like:

A green chili burro, enchilada style

We got gas and went through the carwash next to McDonald's as we were leaving we noticed that instead of cows in the Adams's field there was a huge flock of Canadian geese.  I am not sure where the cows were.

When we got home James had an Eagle Brand pie waiting for him. I doubled the filling so we were both anxious to try it. It was pretty delicious. This is the only thing he asked for, for his birthday. I'm sorry I didn't get a picture of it.

James's mom called and asked when his party was...uh oh. I texted Sheri and she said she told her the date and time so now I don't feel so bad. She wasn't upset but said she had made a cheesecake for him and that she would put it in the freezer until we came by to pick it up. We will be down on the 1st and 2nd of February.

Sheri posted this on Facebook today.

Stacy's post:

I cut James's hair today and I must say that I did a good job.
This evening we watched an episode of "Heartland." The question is, will Georgie lose her horse, Phoenix?

It was a great day spent with the one I love the most.
