We do not build or enter holy temples solely to have a memorable individual or family experience. Rather, the covenants received and the ordinances performed in temples are essential to the sanctifying of our hearts and for the ultimate exaltation of God's sons and daughters.

Inklings

We had a good steady rain today. It was great!

I love how it smells here when
it rains!

We were eating lunch when it started to rain and the electricity went off so we ate in the dark. Thank goodness it was only off for about 30 minutes.

James took a short rest after lunch and then went into town to get some supplies for his various projects. He wanted me to go but I reminded him that I had an appointment to go see Cammy and then I was going in to town to get ingredients for the dinner I am making for the Goodman's tomorrow. I did hurry and get my shipment of books ready so he could take it to the UPS store.

I made rice krispy treats to take to the Grapp's. The first batch didn't turn out the way I wanted so I made another batch. I took the last batch to the Grapp's and I ate the first batch...not all at once but I ate them all because James doesn't even like rice krispy treats.

Leland loved his finger puppets and little monster trucks. He is the cutest little boy. Why do I always forget to take pictures of him?

Liana took the "Come Follow Me" lesson helps and rice krispy treats.

On the way in to town I listened to my new audio book on Deseret Book Plus, "Promises and Primroses."  Walmart was Walmart so I got in and out as quickly as I could.  I bought stuff for the Goodman's and us to have baked ziti, salad, french bread, and strawberry shortcake. I also got some things to send to Charlie for her birthday since I am sending Molly her birthday present I thought it would be fun for Charlie to have a box to open too. Her birthday is August 27th and Molly's is August 8th.

James said the guys started the framing for the patio in Peoria today. He seems pretty happy with the pictures they sent.

This evening I watched Dave and Emily talk about Alma 36-38 in their latest "Don't Miss This" episode.

Happy 19th Birthday Summer!

Jesus Christ, Judge
Psalms 135:14
For the Lord will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants.
Book of Mormon
2 Nephi 9:1-26
Jacob explains that the Jews will be gathered in all their lands of promise - The Atonement ransoms man from the Fall - The bodies of the dead will come forth from the grave, and their spirits from hell and from paradise - They will be judged...
"Come Follow Me"
2 Nephi 10:20, 23-25 Because of the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ, I can "cheer up" my heart.

"Standing By Our Promises and Covenants"
Elder Ronald A. Rasband
"The gathering is the most important thing taking place on earth today, President Nelson has said as he has traveled the world. "When we speak of the gathering, we are simply saying this fundamental truth: every one of our Heavenly Father's children, on both sides of the veil, deserves to hear the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ."

I prayed this morning that Mario would accept James's contract and that they would be able to start work within the next two weeks.
James took off $1800 per house, there are two, and submitted it. He still has not heard back. That's the best he can do. He can't work for nothing.

James went to town this morning to look at cabinets and countertops for Mario's job.  He wanted me to go with him but I needed to stay home and finish Valentines for Ben, Stacy, Kim, Sheri, Darrel and families. I am spending a lot of time coloring a Valentine message of love. It is simple but sincere.

To Ben and his fellow missionaries.
On the back it says:
Hurray for Israel, hurray for the gathering,
We love missionaries!

When James returned he came in carrying four books from the post office for me to inventory and sell,  and with my prescription. He made the comment about how muddy the roads were. He said he had tried to go through the carwash but was discouraged at both places, Circle K and Splash and Dash. Splash and Dash told him there was so much mud that the brushes would scratch his car trying to get it off. He forgot to get gas for the power sprayer so he can't wash it at home either.  I listened but didn't really pay much attention to the car outside.

James came in, had some lunch, and laid down to take a nap.
I continued finishing up my Valentines. I finished everyone's except Kim and Brian's. I will finish theirs and mail it tomorrow morning. Better late than never, right?

I needed to make it to the post office before 4 so I hurried and got ready and went out to the car around 3:30. I don't think I've ever seen Lexy this dirty.

There were so many spots on the windshield
it was difficult to see, especially with the
afternoon sun shining directly at me.

I was upset and James could tell I was upset. I made it to the post office and mailed my Valentines and headed for Dollar General to get ingredients to make Rice Krispy treats and to get a birthday gift for Benson Grapp.

The store was a mess. Very few Valentines left and stuff all over the floor and in the aisle. I did find a gift for Benson and a Valentine and some candy for James. Oh yes, I found a receipt from Walmart for $100 in the car. When I asked James what it was for, he said, your Valentine "surprise." Now I really feel guilty for being upset with him.

When I am stressed I eat and today I ate 3 sugar cookies. I am pretty disgusted with myself. This wasn't my best day ever.

James helped me put sheets on our bed and Kim and Brian's bed downstairs. I finished putting the sheets on the bed in James's office and checked each room because Adam and friends are coming up tomorrow night.

I am sad to say I cleaned up 15 dead wasps in Sheri and Ian's room. That is the room Kaitlyn stays in. I asked James if we had a bug bomb and he said no. No time to go get one either. I picked up one wasp who still had enough life left in him to sting me through the tissue I was holding him with. That hurt!

All I wanted to do this evening was study The Restoration and update my Inklings and Come Follow Me. Instead I walked, and bought three books and worked on "Come Follow Me" for 30 minutes. Where does the time go.

I am listening to "The Saints" volume one. It is a vivid reminder of the sacrifices that were made to restore the gospel by so many, especially Joseph Smith and his family. I am humbled by the sincerity and devotion of so many and shocked by the opposition and how evil some people can be.
James found some old photos and sent
them to me:

This was a video, it was so touching.

I sold this book today and James mailed if for me.

Jesus Christ, Jehovah
Isaiah 60:16
Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the Lord am thy Savior and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
Book of Mormon
Testimony of the 8 Witnesses

Oct 2019 General Conference
"True Disciples of the Savior"
Elder Terence M. Vinson
"So what should our attitude be if we are true disciples of Christ? And what is the gospel worth to us when we do 'consider our ways,' as Haggai suggested?
I love the example of the correct attitude shown by King Lamoni's father. You'll remember his initial anger at finding his son being accompanied by Ammon, a Nephite - a people whom the Lamanites hated. He drew his sword to contend with Ammon and soon found Ammon's sword at his own throat. 'Now the king, fearing he should lose his life, said: If thou wilt spare me I will grant unto thee whatsoever thou wilt ask, even to half of the kingdom.'
Note his offer - half his kingdom for his life. But later, after understanding the gospel, he made another offer. 'The king said: What shall I do that I may have this eternal life of which thou hast spoken? Yea, what shall I do that I may be born of God, having this wicked spirit rooted out of my breast, and receive his Spirit, that I may be filled with joy, that I may not be cast off at the last day? Behold, said he, I will give up all that I possess, yea, I will forsake my kingdom, that I may receive this great joy.'"

The start of week 13 of the Inklings study with EmilyBelle Freeman.  We got more snow. When I looked outside everything was covered in white and the trees were frosted. It looks like about 4 inches according to our table on the back patio.

Anthony is coming over to pick up James to help him feed the Howard's 18 horses. Anthony had very little gas in his truck. He was going to Virgil Cooper's who had some gas for him but he ran out just as he got there and now he can't get his truck started because he flooded the carburetor. James went to the rescue.

Anthony has an old 4 wheel drive that the Thomas Grapp's grandpa gave him. It's one where you have to get out and lock the wheels in order to get it in four wheel drive. It will not make it up the Howard's snowy mountain. James's truck can make it up.

I found this quote today and I know that it is true:
"Weak gospel teaching and modeling in the home is a powerful cause that may break the cycle of multi-generational families in the Church." - Elder David A. Bednar

I've got all of the Christmas decorations, etc. downstairs. Now I just need to organize it and put it away. I blogged for December 22nd, which was our family Christmas party. There were so many photos. With my slow internet it took me over three hours to finish.

I'm still watching Christmas movies. Tonight's was called, "A Christmas Love Letter."

I checked all my views and this is what
I saw:

It's a snowy, snowy day

Some of my reading material, mostly
for the study of the Book of Mormon,
except for Aunt Dimity of course.

Things are back to normal,...well, at least
the room is back to normal.
