Jacob 5:1-14
The first visit of the Master (Savior), to His vineyard (the world). The Master sees the old tame olive tree (covenant Israel) is dying or going into apostasy. (vs. 3). Israel is to be scattered. (vs. 14.)
What is the wild olive tree which is grafted in? (The Gentiles - see Acts 10.)
Alma 44
Moroni commands the Lamanites to make a covenant of peace or be destroyed - Zerahemnah rejects the offer, and the battle resumes - Moroni's armies defeat the Lamanites. About 74-73 B.C.
DC 45:1-11
1-5, Christ is our advocate with the Father; 6-10, The gospel is a messenger to prepare the way before the Lord;
Why can darkness not comprehend light?
* Because darkness is the absence of light.  As soon as light appears, darkness is gone.

The Sacrament Can Help Us Become Holy
Elder Peter F. Meurs
Elder David A. Bednar taught:
''The ordinance of the sacrament is a holy and repeated invitation to repent sincerely and to be renewed spiritually.  The act of partaking of the sacrament, in and of itself, does not remit sins.  But as we prepare conscientiously and participate in this holy ordinance with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, then the promise is that we may always have the Spirit of the Lord to be with us.  And by the sanctifying power of the Holy Ghost as our constant companion, we can always retain a remission of our sins."

James tried flying his drone today and ended up crashing it into the house.  He was quite frustrated and said he could only fly it about 100 feet when it is supposed to go a mile.  He spoke to David and David told him he had it in beginners mode.

The guy in control.  Or is he?

Here it comes!

James is leaving for the valley today.  When he got ready to leave I followed him in to town and we had lunch at Licano's.  James ordered a turkey and avocado sandwich that was heavy on the turkey with very little avocado.  He didn't eat much so I gave him my taco.  I had a chicken enchilada and some refried beans and rice.  I couldn't even eat all of it.  I was going to take the taco home but I donated it to a worthy cause.
A group of old guys came in the restaurant while we were eating and I made the comment: "It looks like the motorcycle gang is here."  When we went outside we saw this:

I was right!

After lunch and saying goodbye to James I went to Walmart to pick up my folic acid and then went home.

The first thing I did when I got home was watch the premier of Dancing with the Stars.  I am happy for Emma and Sasha.  Emma's partner is Rashad Jennings, an NFL player who is really good.  Sasha has Simone Biles, the most decorated Olympic gymnast ever.  Sasha and Simone got the most points, 32, and Emma and Rashad got 31.  I am not sure why I am watching Charo, Mr. T, and Chris Kattan try to dance.

When James is gone I have a tendency to keep the TV on for company.  It isn't a complete waste of time because I work on my blog as I am watching television.  I watched the new Aurora Teagarten mystery and I also watched "Birthday Wishes" and "I Married Who"?  I have seen both of these last movies before.
I miss James.

2 Nephi 20:12-34 (Compare Isaiah 10)
Social injustices exist in the northern kingdom of Israel.  The kingdom of Assyria is an instrument in God's hand to punish Israel. God destroys Assyria, which is a type of destruction at the Second Coming.  A remnant of Israel will return in the last days.  Understanding the gospel is one thing.  Living it is another.  We are commanded to care for the poor and needy.  The obsession of ancient Assyria was land, power, and wealth.  The Lord burned and consumed the Assyrians as a type of the burning that will take place at His Second Coming, in a world also obsessed with land, wealth, and power. During this testing time the righteous must continue to love God, trust in His promises, be patient and be assured.  2 Nephi 20 teaches us to wait upon the Lord with faith and never give up, but to "stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for His arm to be revealed" (DC 123:17)

Alma 9-10:4
9-Alma commands the people of Ammonihah to repent-The Lord will be merciful to the Lamanites in the last days-If the Nephites forsake the light, they will be destroyed by the Lamanites-The Son of God will come soon-He will redeem those who repent, are baptized, and have faith in His name.

DC 34:1-12
What can you do in your life now to prepare for the Second Coming?
Talk: "Preparation for the Restoration and the Second Coming. My Hand Be Over Thee"

I listened to this talk by Elder Hales and absolutely loved it!

'No Greater Joy Than To Know That They Know
By Elder K. Brett Nattress

"I am grateful for the gift of the Book of Mormon.  I know that it is true!  It contains the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  I am unaware of anyone who is diligently reading the Book of Mormon each day with pure intent and with faith in Christ who has lost their testimony and fallen away.  Moroni's prophetic promise carries with it the key to know the truth of all things including having the ability to discern and avoid the deceptions of the adversary."
(See Moroni 10:4-5)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DAD
WHO WAS BORN IN 1931 AND WOULD
BE 86 YEARS OLD TODAY

This is my favorite picture of my dad because he was
happiest on the back of a horse living out in the middle
of nowhere on the Milky Ranch.

The Milky Ranch is near the Petrified Forest
and the Painted Desert.

My dad was a successful businessman in Show Low for many years when he ran Kings Market later renamed Double MM
Market before it was gutted by a fire.  It was after that my dad was able to live and breath ranching.

My dad's parents:
Verdie Rea Robinson
and
Arlee T. Maxwell

Although my mom and dad's marriage didn't last,
I believe her loved my mom and she loved him.
This is me as a baby.

Aunt Gene on the left was my dad's only sibling.
She is with my brother Dennis's wife Denise.
Aunt Gene is my only living tie to my
dad's family.  I love her. She will be 90 years old in March.

I am grateful for this knowledge and I am sure
my dad is too.

My friend Hailey came over today and demonstrated LipSense lipstick.  I bought two colors.
It's suppose to last all day

I got a text from Addy today asking if I would be in the valley next Monday, March 6th.  Actually I am going down this Wednesday for a tooth extraction and my infusion but we are planning on coming back Saturday.  She wants me to come to her choir concert.  She has had two other concerts I have not been able to attend so I told her I would be there.  We will just come home Saturday, teach our classes on Sunday and go back to the valley on Monday.

We heard some sad news today.  Our primary care physician, Dr. Moffat was suppose to be in his new office today but a fire destroyed it Saturday night.  Dr. Moffat is an amazing man who makes house calls and really cares about people.  We love and appreciate him and hope he can get in to that new office very soon.

A place I would like to visit.

Helaman 14:20-15:6
How does the principle of agency play into this chapter?
We can choose our actions but not the consequences.
What is God's divine love?  The Lord loves all people but cannot tolerate sin.  Although Helaman 15:4 states that the Lord hated the Lamanites "because their deeds have been evil continually," Samuel is an example of the many Lamanites who were taught the gospel message and gained God's favor once they were converted.
Elder Russell M. Nelson addressed the subject of God's love for those who sin: "Does this mean the Lord does not love the sinner?  Of course not.  He hates the sin but loves the sinner.  Divine love is infinite and universal.  The Savior loves both saints and sinners.  The Apostle John affirmed, 'We love Him, because He first loved us.' (1John 4:19).  And Nephi, upon seeing in vision the Lord's mortal ministry, declared: '...Yea, they spit upon Him, and He suffereth it, because of His loving kindness and His long-suffering towards the children of men (1 Nephi 19:9).  We know the expansiveness of the Redeemer's love because He died that all who die might live again." ("Divine Love", Ensign, Feb. 20103, 24).

GC: "Come Follow Me" by Practicing Christian Love and Service by Elder Robert D. Hales.

Right after scriptures James heads for the hills looking for
elk.  I had to post both of these because I loved the facial expressions.

He was pretty happy when he left but when he returned he could hardly walk because of back spasms.  I had to get the cane for him. Usually these spasms don't last too long but they are becoming more frequent.

When I walked out on the front porch this morning, I found
one of the rocking chairs like this.  I am not sure what happened.

 I love this quote!

We left the house at 10 o'clock this morning headed for George and Ruth Wallace's house.  Ruth gave us apples off their trees that they had to pick early because of the hail last week and then she gave us a family history lesson.  We stayed about an hour and then had to leave to take the new Razr tire to be mounted at Discount Tire.  We also had a lunch date with Harold, Vickie, Dennis and Denise in Pinetop.  We were going to eat at the Red Devil Italian restaurant but it was closed so we went to El Rancho.  I am sad I didn't take any pictures.  This was our birthday lunch for Denise, Vickie, and I. We all pay for ourselves and just enjoy each other's company.  It was nice to just have time to visit.  I really do love my brothers and their wives.

After we picked up the tire in Show Low we headed for home.  It was after three o'clock when we arrived.  I was tired but didn't really want to take a nap so I watched last night's episode of "Dancing with the Stars."  The theme was Cirque de soleil.  These were my favorites: Laurie Hernandez and Val who danced to a Michael Jackson song and got a perfect score, Lindsay and Calvin Johnson, Sharna and James Hinchcliffe, and Terra and Sasha.
A highlight from tonight's show was Sasha and Emma's engagement.  Two couples went home: Vanilla Ice and Witney, and  Allison and "Babyface."  I enjoyed watching tonight because James actually sat down and watched with me.

This was Lola two years ago.
I love this picture
And this one too!

I took this picture on the way home Saturday from inside the truck
I think it turned out pretty good.

Mosiah 26:14-39 - Who are the Lord's sheep?  Those that hear His voice. (vs. 21)
30 - Yea, and as often as my people repent will I forgive them their trespasses against me.
39 - . . . pray without ceasing and give thanks in all things.

It took me awhile this morning but I was finally able to reset James's Apple password so he could download the Google app.
Yeah, you guessed it, I'm the techie of the family.

James and I met Dennis and Denise and Harold at Licano's today to celebrate Dennis's birthday.  Vickie was supposed to come but she had a headache.  Probably a "hangover" from the state track meet.
Dennis and Denise told of their treacherous hike below the Tonto National Bridge that they went on for Dennis's birthday.  Denise said she almost didn't make it and would never go again.  I guess it was stressful at the time but it gave them a good story to tell.
I should have had Harold scoot in as he is barely in the picture.
After lunch and saying our goodbye's James and I headed for Walmart and Home Depot.
On the way home we finished "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe."  We stopped at the post office and Jared had sent me a book for mother's day.

I love Elder and Sister Holland
This afternoon while James was working outside I paid bills and worked on my blog.
For FHE James and I listened to Elder Rasband's conference talk, "Standing with the Leaders of the Church."  Here is a quote:
"Are you standing with the leaders of the Church in a darkening world so that you might spread the Light of Christ?"
We also watched this week's episode of "The Good Witch."
I watched a few dances on DWTS.  I actually really liked Jodi and Keo's jive.  The ended up going home after getting a perfect score.
Here is a picture someone took of a storm cloud in Oklahoma:
Trina found this critter waiting for her in the garage when she came home from work tonight.
James says it's a vinegeron.  Some other people called it a sun spider, camel spider, and scorpion spider just to name a few.
What ever it is, it's disgusting!

Canada in the Fall

Sheri's Thought:
I listened to a talk by L. Tom Perry where he powerfully spoke about obedience.  He admonished, "Disobedience to the Lord's commandments will always deprive us of His blessings.  The world changes constantly and dramatically, but God, His commandments, and promised blessings do not change.  They are immutable and unchanging.  Men and women receive their agency as a gift from God, but their liberty and, in turn, their eternal happiness come from obedience to His laws.  As Alma counseled his errant son Corianton, "Wickedness never was happiness." (Alma 41:10)

I slept in this morning.  It was difficult to get out of bed because my feet hurt.  I took some Tramadol and settled into my place on the couch to watch last night's episode of "Dancing with the Stars."
As I was getting ready for our lunch date with Dennis, Denise, Harold, and Vickie, my visiting teaching companion, Lorraine Tieman called and said she had appointments for today starting at 11 am.  I reminded her that I couldn't go this morning so she said she would try to change them to Thursday.  She can't go tomorrow.
We met my brothers and their wives at Persnikkity's around 11 am.  We so enjoyed our lunch and visit with them. James said his Philly cheesesteak was the best he's ever had! I am so frustrated that I didn't take a picture!  James brought the big picture of my dad roping a calf with Mr. Yellowhair, painted by Yellowhair.  James wanted to give it to Harold or Dennis.  Dennis ended up taking it.  He thought Kyle might like it or he would find a place for it in his house.  We said our goodbye's and headed for home.  I saw Gail Butler as we were leaving and she gave me a hug.  She is someone I knew in high school and is married to Gary Butler.  She is also Chris Butler's mother.  Chris is married to Janny St. Onge.
While we were in town we went to the bank and then to Walmart to pick up a few groceries.

Back at home James works on his lesson while I watch more TV and rest.  It is a gorgeous day, with the high around 72.
I got a text this afternoon from our realtor, Jen MacLay.  The house closed today, a day early!  It really is happening.  I am happy and a little sad at the same time.

I really needed this relaxing down day!
A Hallmark movie this evening with James.

Some thoughts from Alma 37 and 38:
"By small and simple things are great things brought to pass.
Keep my commandments and prosper in the land.
The records were preserved to teach the gospel.
Let all thy thoughts be directed unto the Lord.
Put your trust in God and be delivered from your trials.
Bridle all your passions.

Harold sent James a helper this morning so he didn't have to get ready for the plumber by himself.  Now, if the rain will just hold off.  James billed Horne for the work he has done so far.  We should be getting a check in a couple of weeks.

I am still working on my Thanksgiving cards.  I wrote five more today.  I got a call from Dennis.  Jenifer's former mother-in-law, Trisha Rogers is planning a big family history gift for all of her grandchildren for next year.  She wants a history of Dennis and Jaci, Mom and Dad, Nannie and Grandpa, and Grandma and Grandpa Maxwell.  Dennis wants my help and I said I would be glad to gather all the information that I have.  It sounds like a good idea and maybe this will motivate me to do something similar for our grandchildren.

We went in to town so James could pay Francisco before he goes home.  We met Dennis, Denise, and Denise's Mom Peg who is here for Thanksgiving at Panda Express.  We had lunch with them and so enjoyed our visit.  We talked about our trip to New York and said we would like to go back.  This time I want to take James.

It was very cold and rainy today.  While we were in town I did some shopping at Walmart.  We then came home and watched two Christmas movies, "Guardian Angel", and "Snow Bride."  I loved Snow Bride!
