Jesus Christ, Divine Sonship
DC 68:25
And again, inasmuch as parents have children in Zion, or in any of her stakes which are organized, that teach them not to understand the doctrine of repentance, faith in Christ the Son of the living God, and of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of the hands, when eight years old, the sin be upon the heads of the parents.
Book of Mormon
2 Nephi 10:18-11:8
These verses show that we only have two sides to choose between: the Lord's side, or the Devil's. Why then is it so difficult for us to make the right choices when we are presented with what the devil wants?
- "If it wasn't difficult for us to make the right choices we would all be translated, and there wouldn't be much purpose to our being tested. the plan, the one we voted for, gave us the option to choose for ourselves between good and evil vs. 23. If we are smart we will make more agency choices that bring us closer to God." (Sue_heugly, Instagram bofm365.)

Happy 44th Birthday Sheri!

Sheri with those she loves the most

James left for the valley this morning at 6 for a pre-construction meeting for the Chacon job in Mesa. He took Sheri's birthday card, a jar of peanut M&M's and the Chili's gift card he got for his birthday. When he went by Sheri's work to take her card and candy Ian was there getting his eye dialated. James invited them to go to lunch with him at Chili's, which they did.

I think this was a special birthday for Sheri. Ben got to skype the family and offered the family prayer while the entire family was there. Sheri said she and Ian were bawling their eyes out when it was over.

James also went by to see our friends Reed and Janis Willis. They need some work done on their patio roof and he is the man for the job. He did another roof repair for them a few years back and the insurance agent told them that whoever did that job is the one you should get to do this one because that's the best job he's ever seen.

Kerri and I had planned to go to Flagstaff to see Marie R. I am communicating with her ministering sister and dear friend, Marilyn Tice. When I tried to call Marie's phone, the one that her husband answered the other day, no one answered. Marilyn told me that Joel, Marie's husband, is meeting with the doctor today and Marie may be coming home. Well Kerri took the day off work and I didn't want it to go to waste. She came over this morning with the March birthday cards for me to sign and we got out our list of possible people to visit. I tried to text one sister but never got a response. When I saw the name Candace Sommer I remembered I had told Tamara I would visit her. I knew her mother, Aggie Brown who passed away a few years ago. I found out from Collin DeWitt that Aggie went to Creighton School just as Collin and I did. She was several years older but still, I felt a bond with her because of that. Aggie's husband always greeted everyone out in the foyer when we came to church. I miss them.

Candace lives way out near highway 61 which is the highway that goes to Concho and St. Johns. Kerri had the address on her GPS. The map showed two different routes and of course we took the wrong one first. It took us to the property but we were on the wrong side of the fence. We took "Buddy Blvd." a dirt road out in the middle of nowhere and found the house.  We knocked on the door but no one answered. There were three medium sized dogs on the porch that greeted us but thank goodness did not try to jump up on us. There was also one tiny dog that had a bone. He kept coming around the other dogs trying to make them jealous of his bone.

Soon a woman came around the side of the house. We introduced ourselves and asked her if she was Candace and she said yes.  She was a very nice woman, about my age. She told us about her miniature horses. We went down to look at them with her. She had two sorrel mares and a goat or two. She said the goats were going to go to someone else. We had a nice visit outside in the cold. I asked her if she preferred Candace or Candy and she said Candy at which point I handed her a Hershey's candy bar. She laughed.
Kerri happened to have a "Come Follow Me" manual and we asked if she would like to have it. She seemed excited and said yes. She said she would come to church but she works on Sunday's as a dog groomer at Pet Sense.

Before we left we met Candy's son, Bruce. We talked for a few more minutes and then we were on our way.

We stopped by the Vernon library to see if we could borrow Tamara's key to go into the clerk's office and look at the map on the wall that Brother Diewald created. We had to go to Tamara's house to get the key from Jordyn, then on to the church.

We are the last numbers on the far bottom right.

We wanted to visit the Neubert's but we never could find county road 3009.

While I was at the library I bought three books and spent $2.10.
Kerri took me home. I had leftover spaghetti and a salad for lunch and took a quick nap. I walked today and ended up getting over 22,000 steps.

I got a text from Marilyn this afternoon that Marie made it home safely. She was very tired and went straight to bed. Her husband will be staying her for a week before he goes back to Houston.

James got home at 5:45. I am always so grateful when he makes it home safely.

In the last 30 days we have done $135.76 in Amazon book sales.

I got a call from Brother Curtis. He set up a training meeting for our family history consultants with the stake on Sunday at 3 pm at the Vernon building. James was pretty happy because he is anxious to receive some training.

 Oh, such a sad face.

Oh no, now Scarlett is sad.

 Sure do love these two.

Love the faces in these photos.

Jesus Christ, Crucifixion
Mark 9:31
For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.
Book of Mormon
Helaman 3:19-37
*What do these verses tell us about the power of prayer? How can you apply these principles to your own life?
- Verse 35 is the key to becoming a true follower of Christ. They fasted and prayed oft and increased in humility and were firmer in the faith of Christ. They became sanctified because they yielded their hearts unto God.
Old Testament
Ecclesiastes 7-12
General Conference
Behold! A Royal Army
Elder Ronald A. Rasband
"Today we all stand as witnesses of the Lord revealing His will through His prophet, President Russell M. Nelson. I testify that he is God's prophet here on earth. I bear my witness of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is our great Redeemer and Savior. This is His work, and this is His will, to which I bear solemn testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."

There is one lonely cupcake left from Tamara's birthday celebration. Guess who ate it.

Ecclesiastes, the Preacher:
"Wisdom gives life to them that have it"

"Anger resteth in the bosom of fools"

"Wisdom is better than strength"

I listened to three articles from the Ensign this morning while doing my chores. One was about President Eyring written by Elder Holland. Another was entitled, "An Ensign to the Nations," and the third was about motherhood and how all women and mothers in some way.

I have decided to give away all of my Victoria Holt books except for "Mistress of Mellyn," which is the one that Nannie first gave to me. I had 26 of her books. James and I read all of them together. We decided that she is a good author but some of the things she writes are a little inappropriate. Goodbye Victoria.

My office buddies. Out with some of the books to
make room for my crafts.

I met my ministering sister companion and we visited Kerri and Catherine Halcomb today. It took awhile for us to actually get together. I waited for her at the Bannon Springs facility and she was looking for me further out on the road the the Bannon Springs sign. I did not have Marie's cell phone number and she forgot to bring mine so we were stuck. I looked on LDS Tools and the directions to Marie's address are incorrect. I remembered her saying that Sister Tice was her neighbor, so I looked up the directions to her home and was able to find Marie. Sometimes ministering is a real adventure!
Marie and Catherine really hit it off. Marie has six dogs which are like her children. I found out she had one son who was killed 17 years ago in a motorcycle race. When Catherine and I talked about our children and grandchildren she said, "I will never have any."
Catherine used to be a dog groomer and raised Siberian huskies. Marie said her dogs needed to be groomed so Catherine is going to come over and show Marie how to groom her six schnauzers.
Catherine is a seamstress and is doing alterations for Brother Hunsaker's suit. His son Tyler is getting married on Saturday.
We got to meet Catherine and Kerri's dogs, Shelly and Star. Shelly is a "blue" Great Dane. Actually she is gray, and Star is a Red Tick Hound. Shelly is beautiful, Star not so much but they are both gentle once you get to know them. I told Kerri all I ever heard was them barking and then being shooed outside and I would like to meet them so she brought them in. Kerri has applied, as a retired federal agent, to go to the Carolina's and help with the hurricane. If called, she will make $500 a day.

The top picture is what Catherine calls her
Church Wall. The bottom is her 16 great
grandchildren.

Today would have been my mother's 88th birthday. I have a photo of her on my desk and I think of her and her goodness to me in my life everyday. I am so grateful to be her daughter. Sheri remembered it was her birthday and sent me a message. It made me feel good that she remembered her grandma.

James went to town this afternoon and got three new tires put on his truck and two new ones for the Razr. He brought back a drink for me and my first Quilter's magazine which I received in the mail. Even if I never make anything I love looking at all the projects I could make if I were more talented.

I put clean sheets on two beds upstairs in readiness for our company this weekend. James and I read from "The Secret Keeper" which we are really beginning to like. I also did some Old Testament reading, and worked on my 2019 dot journal before it was time to retire to our comfy bed.

I asked for a photo of Summer and Charlie together.
Kacey said that this is how they bond. Cute.

I have this leaf punch!

You can see her personality shine through
in this photo. I love you Scarlett!

The name of this photo is: "Owie"

Jesus Christ Baptism of
Mark 10:38
But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
Book of Mormon
Mosiah 3:1-18
*How does Mosiah 3:7 help you understand the Savior's mission? What are your feelings as you think about what the Savior has done for you?
- Recognizing my Savior and seeing what He did for me and renewing my covenants each week at the Sacrament table keep my remembrance of Him in my mind each day. I love the Savior.
Old Testament
Joshua 11-12
11 Joshua and Israel conquer the whole land, destroying many cities and nations.
12 Two kings on the east of the Jordan and thirty-one on the west are conquered by Israel.

"One More Day"
Taylor G. Godoy
" We all have a today to live, and the key to making our day successful is to be willing to sacrifice."

As I was studying the Preach My Gospel today this question struck me: "Do my actions fulfill my prayers?" p. 95
What should I pray for?
Alma 6:6 - Nevertheless the children of God were commanded that they should gather themselves together oft, and join in fasting and mighty prayer in behalf of the welfare of the souls of those who knew not God.
I told James he should figure out how many rabbits he is feeding so he went outside and tried to count them. He came back with 8 in the back and 2 in the front. Next step, name them.

Dave, our new neighbor, called during scriptures for the second time this week. He is coming up from the valley to pick up the water trailer he wants to buy. He will have an $1,800 check waiting for us at Robert's Tires in Show Low if we can bring the trailer in. Of course, when I say we, I knew James was going to ask me to go with him.

After picking up the check and dropping off the trailer we drove into town to have lunch at the Subway. There are two Subways in Show Low. I requested we go to the one by the Dollar Tree so I could go in and get some artificial flowers to put in the planters on the front porch. Lame, but maybe the squirrels and rabbits won't eat them.

I listened to four of President Nelson's talks today:
#8. 10/87 "Keys of the Priesthood"
"We must be loyal to the keys we have." President Nelson wrote a song for the end of his talk.
#9. 4/88 "With God Nothing Shall Be Impossible"
"Faith, focus, strength, and courage is required to do the Lord's will. To teach His people the Lord employs the unlikely. Heaven sent lift for Heaven sent duties. Keep an eye single to the glory of God." ( He used the example of two lenses in binoculars coming together to give us complete focus to aligning our lives with the Lord's will.)
#10. 10/88 "Addiction or Freedom"
"There is an epidemic of addiction in the world today; Tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. There is a spiritual prescription for these ailments. Drugs are the modern 'mess of pottage' for which souls are sold. No families are free from risk."
#11. 4/89 "The Canker of Contention"
"John 14:27 - 'Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the word giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.' His peace is not necessarily political, His peace is personal."

I walked and worked outside this afternoon. I love to hear the wind in the pine trees.

Paul tore his meniscus today while exercising. Now both he and Stacy are bedridden. Kim and Brian went to pick him up at the hospital.

The missionaries from the YSA ward came by to visit Adam. He was taking a nap so they visited with Paul and ended up giving him a blessing. They said they prayed to know where to go.

Sister Julie Berry who was a member of the Vernon ward until she got cancer and had to move to the valley, passed away last night. She had a great testimony and was a dedicated Primary teacher.

I spent the evening preparing for Primary. I also walked and ended up with a total of 17,519 steps, 7.4 miles and burned 545 calories.

For future reference if I can read it.

I loved his dry humor.

James admiring my flowers.

Those are some big butterflies!
