Alma 33:12-23
12 - Alma: Do ye believe those scriptures which have been written by them of old?
13 - Zenos said: Thou hast turned away thy judgments because of thy Son.
14 - If ye have read the scriptures how can ye disbelieve on the Son of God?
15 - Both Zenos and Zenock spoke of these things.
17 - A second prophet of old testified of the Son of God and because the people didn't understand his words they stoned him to death.
19 - The Son of God was spoken of by Moses and he raised a type in the wilderness that whosoever would look upon it and live.  Many did look and live.
20 - But few understood the meaning of those things, because of the hardness of their hearts.  Many would not look and perished.  They didn't look because they didn't think it would heal them.
22 - . . . cast about your eyes and begin to believe in the Son of God, that He will come to redeem His people, and that He shall suffer and die to atone for their sins, and that He shall rise again from the dead, which shall bring to pass the resurrection, that all men shall stand before Him, to be judged at the last and judgment day, according to their works.
23 - Plant this word in your hearts, and as it beginneth to swell even so nourish it by your faith.  And it will become a tree, springing up in you unto everlasting life.  And then may God grant unto you that your burdens may be light, through the joy of His Son.  And even all this ye can do if ye will.  Amen.

Evan had a nightmare last night.  He knocked on our door for quite awhile before James heard him.  I didn't hear him because I had ear plugs in.  He slept on one of our recliner chairs in our room and was fine the rest of the night.  We were going to go to the temple this morning but decided to stay home to make sure Evan was okay when he got up.  Also, I fixed the boys homemade pancakes for breakfast.

Last night we were talking about our favorite places and Joshua said that our old house on 108th Way was one of his favorite places and when he gets older if it ever goes up for sale he is going to buy it.  I guess he is the one person in his family that really misses it.

James made this statement today: "I've had my voice for 8 weeks now.  The longest I've had it for four years.  Hooray!

The boys went out and helped grandpa a little this morning.
The concrete pour is on Monday.

James went in to town to get some supplies and came back with a bucket of chicken for lunch from KFC.  Ian, Sheri, and Ben got here about the same time.  Ben helped James outside raking abc.

I worked on my Primary lesson most of the afternoon while Sheri watched Family Feud.  She is a little obsessed with the show.

Meanwhile at the beach in California:
The Case grandchildren.
Some of them are ours.
Rowan, Addy, Ruby, and Lola.
Don't you just love these swimsuits!

At five o'clock today Tasha and Kaitlynn came to our house with two guys who work for Saladmaster.  They did a demo and then prepared dinner for us.  Saladmaster is very elite cookware made with titanium metal.  Sheri and I were so impressed with Shawn who did the demonstration.  Tucker was his assistant and I think his partner.  I ended up buying the smallest set but because I committed tonight I got a free electric skillet.  Ian and Sheri didn't buy anything but Sheri said she would have people over for demonstrations.  If she does two, she will get two of the Saladmaster Machines.  I told her I would trade my electric skillet for one of them.  It was a fun evening but James was a little stressed because I bought something. (He's also stressed about getting ready for concrete on Monday.)  I think because of the lifetime guarantee and the fact that we will be eating healthier and spending less at the grocery store, my purchase will pay for itself in no time. Shawn is Alberta Nickolaus's great grandson.

The boys played Apples to Apples with Ben tonight.

Girls camp was cancelled this week because of the fire although it was not a direct threat to the camp itself.  It was a stake camp and since many of the leaders are from Show Low and Show Low is on pre-evacuation orders they cancelled.  I am sure the girls and the leaders were quite disappointed.

Ready to go!

Trina and the kids went on a Razr ride this morning.  I would have gone too but then Ruby wouldn't have had a seatbelt so I stayed home.  This is what they looked like when they returned.
Trina got a nice tan.

Alma 17:18-31 Study Notes
When has service enabled you to share the gospel with others?
"Service softens the soil so seeds don't fall by the wayside."
When we are disciples of Christ we have opportunities everyday to love and bless someone else.

Ammon's desire was to serve and teach the people the gospel.

General Conference: "In Praise of Those Who Save" - President Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

The guy from Wi-Power came out and looked around and decided it wouldn't be worth it for us to have their service because it would be very slow.  He said they are building a tower on a hill in Vernon and then the service would be much better.  He said to call every so often because the more calls they get the sooner they will get the tower built.

Rowan finally talked Addy in to playing chess with him.  They played two games and he won them both.
Note the excitement on Addy's face.

Because Addy played chess with Rowan we talked him in to playing Apples to Apples with us because we needed four players.
I think he really enjoyed it, although I won.

After Apples to Apples we went outside on the deck and played Candyland with Ruby.  Addy won.
Ruby ready to go home.
Trina wasn't in a big hurry to get home because it is so hot in the valley.  She left in the middle of the afternoon.  Before she left she washed the sheets on her beds and put them back on and washed all the towels they used.  I am very grateful.

I had to post these pictures of Rowan and Lola.
Great balance Rowan!

Such a poser!

Before they left we finished off Dallin's birthday cake.

I was sad to see everyone go.  I sat down and watched an episode of "Chopped."

This evening I watched a Hallmark movie called, Ms. Matchmaker starring Alexa Penavega.

Finally got a picture of Addy!
Joshua is holding Larry the Lizard.
James Hayden was on a Razr ride.

When I woke up this morning in Chandler at 5:50, James was already up and dressed and he said to me: "I'll be waiting out in the car for you.  He was ready to go home.  Thirty minutes later I was ready.
We started a new book called Alexandra on the way home.
It's called a sweet and clean
Regency romance novel.

We got back to Vernon around 10, and our company was still there!

Addy started a game of Apples to Apples.  I forgot
how much fun this game is to play with kids.
Hey who went to Maverick?
I guess it was Jared when he got gas for the Razr.
More random pictures.
We have some posers in our family.

Things I didn't get pictures of that I wish I had:
Darrel vacuuming.
The kids have a "candy fest" eating all the candy I usually save for my Primary class.
More pictures of kids on the Razr.
More pictures of James and Addy.
Evan learning to drive.

Both cars left a little after noon. Molly came and sat on my lap and ask if she could live with me.  That melted my heart.
I hope Darrel doesn't get caught in the Memorial Day traffic.  The house was very quiet after everyone left.  I sat down and watched an episode of "Chopped."  James took a two hour nap.  He was up awfully early this morning.

Some random pictures I want to post.  I showed this first one to James Hayden and he said it looked like "marshmallow clouds."
Toasted marshmallow clouds.
I would love it if James could build a clubhouse that looked like this:
We could paint it purple and plant it by a
red tree and put up a colorful fence!

This picture of Bruce was taken at 4am.
during my morning devotional.

Ruth 1:16-17
"And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LOrd do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me."

This morning for scripture study Emmy shared a scripture she learned about in her primary class yesterday.  It was Genesis 39:18-23:
18 -And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out.
19- And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.
20-And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.
21-But the Lord was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
22-And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.
23-The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the Lord was with him, and that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper."
We talked about how when bad thing happened to Joseph even when he was trying to do good, eventually because of his goodness and obedience, he was blessed.

I went with Jared to take Emmy and Anna to school so I would know the route. Bruce and Penny went with us.
I am picking up Emmy this afternoon.  She goes to Mitzy Bond Elementary School.  Anna goes to Abraham Lincolm Junior High.  Emmy is in the third grade and Anna is in the sixth.

We hung out with Molly and the dogs while the other girls were gone to school and Jared was at work.
 Penny and Molly
Molly trying to get Bruce to shake hands with her,
but I think he's just too tired.
Penny found the most comfortable spot in the house.
Molly singing her preschool songs for us.
Molly, James and I went shopping at Walmart.  The guy behind us in line was trying to be friendly with Molly.  She told him he had sharp teeth.  Thank goodness he was a good sport about it.
After shopping we went to lunch at Rudy's.  Molly loved their potato salad and dill pickles.  She also ate a tiny bit of smoked turkey.
Back at home we all laid down to take a nap.  Molly told me I smelled good, just like an old grandma.  I guess I should consider that a compliment.  While she was still sleeping I left to pick up Emmy from school and take her to volleyball practice.  I stayed and watched her practice.
Emmy loves sports and she is very athletic.
There were lots of girls all shapes, sizes, and ages practicing volleyball at Stars Haven today.  I guess Anna has practice on Fridays.
On the way home Emmy and I stopped at the local Circle K for some refreshments.  Jared made burgers for dinner.  They were delicious. Anna was very helpful.  She asked everyone what they wanted to drink and then she delivered our drinks to us.
I played with Molly outside.  I watched her jump on the trampoline and then we played tetherball.

Anna gave a really good lesson for FHE.  She had questions for us to answer and when we were finished she gave what she thought would be a good answer.  I guess she is doing this for Mutual on Wednesday night too.  Anna also made some delicious snickerdoodle cookies for us. Emmy got to chose the game.  We played Apples to Apples.  Molly did the song.
Maybe we should be glad we lost the remote to the TV.  We spent a nice evening together.
