"This Is Our Time!"
Elder S. Gifford Nielsen
Of the Seventy
When we hear stories of God's mighty servants who came before us - like Moses, Mary, Moroni, Alma, Esther, Joseph, and many others - they seem bigger than life. But they were not that different from us. They were regular people who faced challenges. They trusted the Lord. They made the right choices at pivotal moments. And, with faith in Jesus Christ, they performed the works required in their time.
Articles of Faith
#4
We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Inklings
"The truth will always triumph over error, and darkness will not continue on earth because of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ."
-Elder Thierry K. Mutombo
I was up at 5:30 this morning. For the second time this week, I had to adjust my phone storage.
I had scripture study from the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the "Come Follow Me" lesson with James as I do everyday. I also listened to Tyler and Taylor on "Book of Mormon Central" as part of my "Come Follow Me" study. One of the key principles this week is the principle of forgiveness. One of my favorite scriptures this week, is found in D&C 64:9-10
9 Wherefore, I say unto you, that ye ought to forgive one another; for he that forgiveth not his brother his trespasses standeth condemned before the Lord; for there remaineth in him the greater sin.
10 I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men.
Another favorite scripture from this week's reading in DC 64-66
D&C 64:33
Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great.
James set two mouse traps this morning. One was under the oven and the other under the refrigerator. He also told Stacy that mice don't generally come out in the day time.
James and I went to town around noon. We invited Stacy to go with us because we were planning on going to LaCasita for lunch. She thought about it and then decided she was too tired and was going to take a nap. She said she didn't sleep very well last night because she had a few small seizures.
It was overcast when we drove into town, not completely but in certain areas. One of those areas was where we were. When we got out of our car we actually felt a few rain drops. Exciting!
I changed up my order a little and so did James. I normally order a chicken enchilada with red sauce and a side of rice and beans. This time I felt like ordering a machaca taco to go with my chicken enchilada and no beans or rice. James ordered a green chili chimichanga with rice and beans. He forgot to order it enchilada style but he said it was still good.
While I shopped at Walmart James went across the street to Circle K to get gas and wash the car. When he got back to Walmart I was almost finished shopping. James's part of the shopping was to pick out a watermelon and a cantaloupe. While James was loading the car in the parking lot and I was eating my Snickers bar in the front seat and feeling guilty, Stacy called. She said it was raining in Vernon. That is good news! It's not raining here where we are anymore. She asked if we could go to Culver's and get her a roast beef sandwich with aujus and a drink, half diet coke (turned out to be Pepsi) and half rootbeer. Of course the aujus was forgotten by whoever packed the order and we had to request it again. I'm not sure some of the people who work here know what aujus is. Can you believe that this small order cost $9.33?
As we drove home we could see a dark cloud near Vernon. By the time we got home the rain was over and you could not even tell it rained. After putting the groceries away Stacy and I sat on the front porch. It was cool, overcast, and smelled so good because of the rain and breeze. Stacy wanted to go on a Razr ride to look for animals. I ask James if he would pump up the flat tire with the compressor. He said he would but then he laid down to take a nap. I had to remind him and felt bad that I woke him up, but I had asked him earlier.
We put on windbreakers and scarfs and took off on the Razr. As we got down to the corner by our neighbor Pierre's place I saw the backside of an animal. At first I thought it was a horse but then I realized it was an elk and he brought his friends with him. Stacy was looking at her camera and I told her to look up. When we stopped to take a picture, the elk trotted a few yards away and then stopped and turned and looked at us. Stacy was able to get some pictures and was happy we saw animals so close to the cabin.
Even though we did not see any other animals on our ride up to Gillespie Flat the ride was heavenly. The weather was perfect, the air cool, there were great pine tree smells and beautiful views, and best of all, no dust or other vehicles! It was a little bit of heaven.
Since we saw no animals on the Green's Peak road, Stacy wanted to go see if the antelope were in the field by the highway across from the post office. When she came in yesterday she said she saw a herd. James and I missed them. We could see a couple of things we thought were antelopes but there are some light colored shrubs in the field and that could have been what we saw. I took her to the field up by the Halcomb's and told her this was a place that elk like to feed. Through the trees Stacy saw one elk. She has great ability to see animals far away. We looked at him and he looked at us for awhile and then we left. I'm not sure where his/her friends were. When we got back home James told us that this is the time that the elk cows are having there calves. They will leave the calves bedded down while they go look for food. This was probably a cow elk we saw and she probably had her baby hid close by.
This evening Stacy wanted to watch a movie. She gave us the choice of "Man of Steel" or "Knives Out." She said "Knives Out" was the best but it had bad language. I told her I did not want a movie with bad language to play in our home so we watched "Man of Steel."
"Man of Steel" was made in 2013. The actor who plays Superman is, according to Stacy, the best looking man on the planet. His name, I think, is Henry Caval. I had to admit he was very good looking. The movie was way to violent and just went on and on. Violence is not good for your spirit and I don't think the Holy Ghost can be present. This is why James and I don't watch PG13 movies. Stacy was very apologetic about the movie.
The mouse did not make an appearance tonight. She did get the peanut butter that James put on the trap under the frig.
