We Need Each Other
God wants us to work together and help each other. That is why He sends us to earth in families and organizes us into wards and stakes. That is why He asks us to serve and minister to each other. That is why He asks us to live in the world but not be of the world. We can accomplish so much more together than we can alone. God's plan of happiness would be frustrated if His children remained isolated one from another.

John 9:17
They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.

James left for the valley around 5 a.m. He brought we my breakfast before he left and we had family prayer together.

I read in the Book of Mormon in Alma 18 where King Lamoni is taught about the Creation, the Fall and the Atonement by Ammon. These things are critical for us if we are to understand the plan of salvation.

I baked the last batch of cookies today which amounted to about 3 dozen. Now I have to frost all the cookies to get ready for the presidency coming over tomorrow to do the tag and bag. I ran off 100 tags so when we are out of tags we are going to stop bagging the cookies.

James got home early enough this afternoon to take a 2  hour ride on Luna. It's been awhile since she has been ridden, last December, and he wants to see how she does. He said she was very gentle and only spooked once.

James brought me dinner. A green chili mixed burro from Burger House. So delicious!

Before going to bed this evening we finished watching the episode of "Aurora Teagarden" that we started last night. It's a whodunit, and I guessed last night who I thought it was and I was right!

We got a little rain today but nothing to get too excited about. We keep having these "spot" showers.

I listened to Emily and Rio on Inklings Live today. Emily talked about having one day consecrated to drawing closer to the Lord. Emily does not get up before 8 a.m. She has made this known. I'm not sure how late she stays up, but I wanted to say to her that I consecrate a part of each day to drawing closer to the Lord. She and Rio also talked about focusing on one thing that your children will remember about you. For Elder Mutombo it was prayer. This is what Rio posted on Work.and.Wonder, her website on Instagram:

A legacy of doing ONE THING consistently has the potential to leave a much greater impact than leaving a legacy of scattered, inconsistent attempts to do it all.

Then she says this:
What are we losing by spreading our legacy too thin? By trying to check every box instead of boiling it down to just one thing - your non-negotiable?
This isn't to say we throw out the rest of our commitments or gospel practices that continue to bless our daily lives. But if your children (or friends, family, community) only remembered what they repeatedly saw, did, or felt when they were under your roof - what would you want that to be?
For Elder Mutombo, it was prayer.
What is yours?
Narrowing it down may seem impossible, but so is expecting yourself to do it all. Pick one, maybe two, just for this season. And then ... consistency, consistency, consistency.
And a legacy will surely follow.
Do I agree? Let me think about it. Why can't we do it all if the Lord wants us to and expects us to?

Happy 12th Birthday Ruby!

I used to call Kim, Kimmy Lou!
Ruby Jane, Kimberly Ann,
It's all the same.

I sure do love this girl!
