The gift of repentance is an expression of God's kindness toward His children, and it is a demonstration of HIs incomparable power to help us overcome the sins we commit. It is also an evidence of the patience and long-suffering our loving Father has for our mortal weakness and frailties. President Russell M. Nelson, our beloved prophet, referred to this gift as "the key to happiness and peace of mind."

We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
Inklings
John 9:24-25
Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
I took some notes from the Doctrine and Covenants Seminary manual in my "Come Follow Me" study this morning:
D&C 66 - We are commanded to repent of all our sins. The Lord will show us the things we need to repent of. If we are faithful in doing the Lord's will, He will be with us and will bless us so we can accomplish what He requires of us. The Lord wants us to forsake all things that cumber our spiritual progress. The Lord knows our specific challenges and temptations. If we continue faithfully to the end, we will receive eternal life.
What will I do to move closer to God and to continue faithfully to the end?
Brother Andersen from our ward came by this morning to pick up his check. He worked for James at the Elkins'. We haven't seen him for awhile because his well broke down and he had to fix it. He told us about a new fire that just started yesterday as a result of lightning. It is called the Backbone fire and all of Pine and Strawberry have been evacuated. I saw a picture of some evacuees and thought one of them was "Cowboy Grampa" Mike Wallen's dad. I sent the picture to Jared and he said no, it was not him.
He's trying to trick me.
His eyebrows are not bushy enough though.
I wonder if he still lives in Strawberry and if
he was evacuated.
At 10:00 this morning Kerri and Maxine came to help bag and tag the cookies. Tamara is cleaning the church building and baking her famous chocolate chip cookies as she works. She shows up about an hour later. I put blue frosting on most of the sugar cookies. We bagged a couple of dozen without frosting and then we bagged about 2 dozen or so of Tamara's delicious chocolate chip cookies. I got the recipe from her and she got my recipe for my sugar cookies. I got this sugar cookies at a Christmas cookie exchange in Chandler years ago and it is the best sugar cookie recipe I have ever seen. I got the recipe from a dear friend, Kleis Bennett. She will always be remembered because of her cookies and for other reasons too.
While we were working on cookies James went into town to get some food for his Father's Day dinner tomorrow and to buy some plants for the front planter. He waited until the cool of the evening and then began planting the flowers.

This afternoon while working on my blog I found another "Come Follow Me" YouTube video. This one was called "Act in Doctrine" and there were three women discussing the lesson. Two were regulars and the third was Sister Susan Tanner, former Young Women's General Presidency. Their discussion was short, but good. Here are some pictures I took of some of the things that were said:
Today was a good day, except I feel so sad for those who have had to be evacuated from their homes because of the fires. We need the monsoons to come early this year! We are praying for rain and for those affected by the fires.
