What should I pray for?
Bible Dictionary "Prayer" paragraph 6
Prayers were said at the Sanctuary (1 Sam. 1:9-12; 1 Kgs. 8; Ps. 42:2, 4) or looking toward the Sanctuary (1 Kgs. 8:44, 48; Ps. 5:7; Dan 6:10); on the housetop or in an upper chamber (Dan. 6:10; Acts 10:9). The Pharisees prayed publicly in the synagogues and at the corners of the streets (Matt. 6:5). The Lord prayed upon the tops of mountains (Matt. 14:23; Luke 9:28) or in solitary places (Mark 1:35).
Jesus Christ betrayal of
Matthew 26:2
Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

*Why do you think false prophets and false teachers flourish among wicked people?
Talk: Beware of False Prophets and False Teachers
By: M. Russell Ballard
- False prophets and teachers flourish among the wicked because they appeal to the natural man. The church of the devil is easy..no rules. Are you materialistic? No problem, having wealth is encouraged, especially if you have to walk on a few people to get it. Maybe your challenge is with sexual immorality. Hey, the church of the devil with all his false teachings encourages free love, and experimentation, and broken covenants. You were made that way right? Let's not forget pride, the me, me attitude is accepted. False teachings are taught by false teachers who want followers. They want to be popular and well liked. They don't teach whole truths, but bits and pieces of truth mingled with natural man desires, and for some that is enough to want to convert to the church of the devil. Satan is the master of deception, the father of lies. False teachings draw us away from truth. Truth taught by those anointed can warn us of false teachers and prophets.
Old Testament
Judges 15-17
15 Samson burns the grain of the Philistines - They burn his wife and father-in-law - Samson slays a thousand Philistines at Lehi with the jawbone of an ass.
16 Samson carries away the doors of the gate of Gaze - He loves Delilah, who delivers him to the Philistines - He destroys a building, killing himself and 3,000 others.
17 Micah has a house of gods (images) and consecrates his own priests.

He That Shall Endure to the End, the Same Shall Be Saved
Elder Claudio D. Zivic
" Let us be faithful to what we have believed and know."

We have a friend in the ward named Anthony. James is/was his home teacher. He lives way out in the wide open spaces where there is no water or electricity. The other day he saw a wolf stalking a small herd of antelope. He called James. James told him, "don't worry the antelope will get in a circle facing out and the wolf will leave." Sure enough that is what happened. Anthony had to call James back and tell him how smart he was.

I listened to President Nelson's talk "Teach Us Tolerance and Love," from the April 1994 general conference.

For lunch today I cooked some cabbage and boiled some sausage tortellini. It went together well and was very tasty, James even said so.

This afternoon Laurann and I went visiting. Our first stop was to see Catherine Halcomb. Laurann had all three of her kids. Amaron is out of school because he had pinkeye earlier in the week. Laurann grabs the twins carseats and loops one through each arm. I don't know how she can carry both of them.

We had a nice visit with Catherine and Amaron gave her one of the blueberry muffins I made. When we were getting ready to leave she said she was having a biopsy on her arm this coming Monday. I will have to check back and see how she is doing.

Our next stop was at the Grapp's. The entire family was home. Of course everyone wanted a muffin. I didn't stay too long but took Amaron home with me.

I supposed to be helping Amaron with his reading but I wasn't really prepared today. I had him do a couple of worksheets and then I read to him one of my favorite books, "Miss Suzy." We played with the dominoes and dice and of course he had to have a treat. He ate two cups of my mandarin oranges and took some Teddy Grahams home to his brothers.

I got Amaron home just when the missionaries came to their house for dinner. I left and when I got out on the highway I realized that I had a flat tire. I stopped by the new tower on highway 60 and tried to call James. Of course I could not get through so I just kept sending texts. Finally he called me back. When he got here he took the tire off and we took it home where he tried to patch it. The first two attempts failed but on the third try he used Rubber Cement and it worked. Back to put it on Lexy. I drove her home and it was a very shaky ride but the air held in the tire. I was so happy to finally be home!

I only got 11,000 steps today. Instead of walking I watched an episode of "When Calls the Heart" with James.

Happy Anniversary to Sheri and Ian:

22 blissful years, 4 boys and 1 dog.

Jackson announced on fast Sunday
that he's going on a mission.

I know this is long and a little messed up
but I loved the part about how he was going
to announce six temples and the Lord told
him to announce the one in India.

Scarlett, Kacey posted this.

Hilarious!

Mosiah 16
After reading Mosiah 16:5, read DC 19:16-17 to discover what will happen to those who refuse to repent and accept the Savior's redemption.
*What does the Savior's redemption include if we do repent?
3 Nephi 9-10
9 In the darkness, the voice of Christ proclaims the destruction of many people and cities for their wickedness - He also proclaims His divinity, announces that the law of Moses is fulfilled, and invites men to come unto Him and be saved. About A.D. 34.
10 There is silence in the land for many hours - The voice of Christ promses to gather His people as a hen gathers her chickens - The more righteous part of the people have been preserved. About A.D. 34-35.
DC 62:1-9
Testimonies are recorded in heaven; The elders are to travel and preach according to judgment and as directed by the Spirit.
Why would our testimonies be recorded in heaven?

The Godhead and the Plan of Salvation
Elder Dallin H. Oaks
"Because we have the truth about the Godhead and our relationship to Them, we have the ultimate road map for our journey through mortality."

Perfect Love Casteth Out Fear
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
"Let us set aside our fears and live instead with joy, humility, hope, and a bold confidence that the Lord is with us."

I had an appointment with one of the sisters I visit teach this morning, Jean.  I turned on the road to her house and thought it was blocked.  I went back home and got James to come with me to see if we could discover a way around the piece of equipment in the road. There was a place to go through that I did not see the first time.  Thank goodness.  Jean is going back to the valley today and this was my only chance to see her.  I gave her a candle and picture of the Savior and also printed out for her the Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood, DC 84:33-44, which Sister Burton has ask us to memorize.  I also got to visit with Jean's daughter Deana who is my visiting teacher while I was there.  She and Kailee are coming to see me tomorrow.

 Salt River

James had to go home to email some information to someone.  He is working on Dr. Memon's bid.  We were home about 15 minutes and then we left for Show Low.  I needed to get some cardstock and James wanted me to pick him up some throat lozenges.  I was only in Walmart for about 10 minutes.  Next we went to Sonic for some lunch and then we were on our way home.  I promised James it would be a short trip to town.  I read to him from our new book, "To Kill a Mockingbird."  He has never read it before.  I have but it was years ago.

When we got home I took a 30 minute nap and then got ready to go visit teach Claire, one of my sisters who just moved to Show Low.  First I went to Safeway and got her some "goodies" for her birthday.  She doesn't really eat sugar so I got her some protein bars, dried mangos, and Kombucha tea.  She lives in the Timber Stone apartments.  I didn't stay long because her sister is in town from Washington and Claire was anxious to go see her at her mom's in Vernon.  Claire has a child custody court date in St. John's for her daughter Marlie and her sister is here to testify in her behalf.  Her court date is the same day as Kacey's.  It sounds like her ex and Kacey's ex are alot alike.

James and I watched the newest Hallmark movie, "Perfect Pitch" starring Andrew Walker this evening before going to bed.  I watched one dance on DWTS.

James has been doing an elk watch every morning and then reporting to his brother Dave.  Dave and Terry are coming up here for an elk hunt the day before Thanksgiving.  This morning he saw 30 head.  Most of the time they are cows but occasionally he sees a big bull like this one.

This morning for scripture study we read James 1 and Alma 32-33.
James has a dry throat and is worried about teaching his Sunday School lesson this week.  I said a prayer for him.  He refuses to go to the doctor because he says in the past the doctors have not helped him.

I am thankful for a kind and loving husband.  Today he drove my partner, Lorraine Tieman, and I to do our visiting teaching.  We were gone three hours and traveled over 60 miles.  We visited Hailey Chaffin and Elida Pope.  I was afraid I would not be able to find my way to Elida's and that's the reason James came.
These are the handouts Cathi made for me.
Filled with Hershey kisses
I gave each of them a little skillet with a cookie mix and said: just as this mix has the potential to become something divine, a cookie, we each have a divine nature that we must work to develop.  We can become divine like our Heavenly Father.

It was a gorgeous day with the high around 60 and plenty of sunshine.
Since we didn't have lunch before we left we were starving when we got home.  I had put some pork chops in the crockpot before we left.  We gobbled them down.  They were delicious!

I took a nap and was pretty lazy the rest of the day.  This evening we watched a couple of Christmas movies:
"Tis the Season for Love", and "Battle of the Bulbs".

I was dizzy and nauseated this morning so I went back to bed.  Note to self: "don't take Tramadol on an empty stomach."

I did manage to make it to my visiting teaching appointment with Gerry Price at 1:30.  I gave a message from Elder Cook's conference talk and gave this quote as a handout along with a small orchid plant.

I knew Gerry's maiden name was Mattice.  I went to college with a girl names Kathy Mattice, so I asked her if she knew a Kathy Mattice.  She said: "Yes, she's my older sister"  Kathy and her husband Leon Stock, who is from Show Low and graduated the same year I did from Snowflake, live in Casa Grande.  It's a small world!

I also got a call from my friend Karen Schneider this afternoon.  She said her visiting teacher is from Show Low and knows me.  Her name is Loretta Willis.  Loretta was also in my graduating class and is a dear friend.  Her mother was also friends with my mother.

I made a stop at Chase Bank and the Dollar Store for cards and cash to send to my graduating Vernon girls.  Jordyn and Trenda are graduating from high school, and Alice from 8th grade.

I could barely walk this evening because the bottom of my feet were swollen and hurt so badly.

This morning James and I attended the funeral services for my dear friend Jacque Hatch.  She was one of my counselors when I served as the stake Relief Society president over 15 years ago.  James is good friends with Greg Hatch, her son.
Jacque was left a widow after only three years of marriage and raised her two boys on her own.  They lived in Tempe and the boys went to Curry school where I was a teacher.  Of course we didn't know each other back then.

Jacque taught home economics at Westwood High for over 25 years.  She was an accomplished seamstress and musician.  Greg gave her life history and each of her 8 grandchildren had an endearing story to tell about her.  Her son David spoke about families and the plan of salvation.

Jacque was a go getter, a positive person who never said no to an assignment and was such an example to me.  While serving her mission in West Virginia she was the ward Relief Society president and every month would visit all 84 sisters in her ward.  She was 11 years older than me and I often wondered where she got all of her energy.  She influenced so many people.  After we were released from the stake RS she served in her ward Young Women's program and helped all of the girls make pajama pants for camp.  This was when she was in her late 60's.

Here is a picture of Jacque with her grandkids on their yearly trip to Newport Beach, California.  Two of her granddaughters are married and their spouses are in the picture.

The blond in the front row is David's daughter Ulia.
She is adopted and is from Russia

We saw several of our dear Chandler friends at the funeral: Martin & Suzanne Kempton, Cheryl Horne, President Heyman, Trudy Lamb, Barbara Keith, and Bishop and Annette Auxier.

After the funeral was over we went home and changed our clothes and headed to Rio Rico for taco Tuesday.

We like the food better than Tia Rosa's but it's
still not as good as Elmer's or Senor Tacos.

James was going to take a piece of equipment to the cabin this afternoon but he decided to wait until tomorrow.

Of course we took a nap this afternoon and read from our book,
"Lady Emma's Campaign."

I had two appointments to go visiting teaching this afternoon with my partner Bunny Miner.  One of our appointments, Gerry Price, cancelled and indicated she was fine without a visit.  Bunny and I met at Karen Payne's and had a nice visit with her.  The lesson was on being without guile, as the Savior was.  We talked about what being without guile meant to us and we discussed how little children are without guile.  I showed them the picture of our Primary class that I posted on Sunday.  It was a good visit.

I am still feeling very miserable and I think it's about time to call the arthritis center for some help.  I am living on about 8 aspirin a day and I know that's not good for my stomach.  I will call tomorrow morning and see if there is something they can do for me.  I am speaking in stake conference Saturday night and I want to be able to walk to the stand.

So proud of this boy who turns 15 today.
Happy Birthday Ben!
Grandpa took Ben to Panda Express, Ben's choice, for dinner.
Ben asked if he could bring a friend.  He chose Max.

I was up at 4am today but at 7am I needed a nap.
I blogged about our trip to California.  It took me a good two hours!  I also made a pot of chalupa.  The house smells great!

This afternoon Randa and I went visiting teaching to Mary Swift and Joyce Malone.  The handout looked like this and was attached to a bag of Dove chocolates.  I also gave everyone warm socks!
Today was a beautiful sunny day with the high around 55 degrees.  There is not much snow left.

I set up a table in my bedroom in front of the TV for gift wrapping.  Ironically one of the Christmas movies I watched today was "Love at the Christmas Table."

I hope Darrel enjoyed the chalupa as much as I did smelling it! Chalupa always reminds me of my friend Jackie Hall.  We used to make it when we served in the RS presidency together when we had to do a dinner.  I got my recipe from Jackie.
