"Finding Refuge From the Storms of Life"
Elder Ricardo P. Gimenez
"This experience helped me realize that although our lives may at times be relatively smooth, the time will come for each of us when we will face unexpected challenges and storms that will push the limits of our ability to endure. Physical, mental, family, and employment challenges; natural disasters; and other matters of life or death are but some of the examples of the storms that we will face in this life."

My book balance today is $903.07. I spent my book time trying to buy books. After several hours I did manage to buy three. Books are high right now and there is not enough spread to make any money.

James left this morning after scriptures and prayer for the Goodman's. Pierce is going to fill his cavities in exchange for the work he did for him when he filled the trenches of his greenhouse.
Pierce also said he wanted to buy the small Cat. If James fixes a few small things Pierce will give him $10,000 for the Cat. That will pay for our share of the road and the cost of getting the Razr fixed.

Today was a beautiful day, although a little warm, around 82 for the high. There was no wind.

I went with James to town this afternoon to get a part for Brother Howard's truck. We stopped at the post office and mailed Olaf to Charlie and picked up a book that I ordered. I ordered a pizza on the way to town and we picked it up at Dominoes before going to Napa Auto Parts. Thin crust veggie is our favorite. If we had only had three toppings instead of five we could have saved $9.00. Next time.

We ate pizza and finished our Aunt Dimity book on the way home.
James went over to the Howard's and put the part on the truck. It was a simple thing that Erik told him could be the problem, and it was. Tom was so happy and grateful. The cost was $65.

At 4:00 we had a meeting with the missionaries via Zoom, Elders Mannute and Elder Powlak taught us the Plan of Salvation.

This evening James went on a ride and I studied, and walked while watching "Lark Rise to Candleford." When he got home he had some dinner and then I asked him to cut my hair, which he did.

General Conference
Exercising Our Spiritual Muscles
Elder Juan Pablo Villar
"Thanks to the Restoration of the gospel, we can come to understand how our Heavenly Father helps us develop spiritual gifts. It is more likely that He will give us opportunities to develop those gifts rather than just granting them to us without spiritual and physical effort If we are in tune with His Spirit, we will learn to identify those opportunities and then act upon them."

Jared got a new salary offer from his employer in Tyler that will cover his expenses, so they won't be moving any time soon. We feel like our prayers were answered.

James went to town this morning and took my book shipment to mail. He got oil for the Razr. Now the hard part begins, finding where to put the oil. Everything is under something else and nothing is labeled. He has the manual but the photos are not very clear.  He brought me an ice cream from McDonald's back with him.

I made rolls for the temple tomorrow and pot pies (Marie Callendar's) for dinner this afternoon. James is supposed to quit eating 5 hours before he goes to bed so we now eat around 5 p.m.

James put new light bulbs in while I worked on repricing books this afternoon.

I trimmed James's hair and ironed his shirt for tomorrow.

Anna drove her car over 5 1/2 hours with

Today's Christmas movies:

 So tired

I ordered the DVD for Addy and I to watch.
It's not a Hallmark movie.
We've both seen it and we like it.

Conference Quotes
"Today is the time to look to the source of truth and ensure that our testimonies are strong."
- Elder Adrian Ochoa
"Regardless of your circumstances, your personal history, or the strength of your testimony, there is room for you in this Church."
-President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
James continues to have problems on the job at Horne Chevrolet.  The place where the concrete was cut out is filled with water because of the rain.  How is he going to dry it out?  He came home before noon to work on his talk for Sunday.  He left Francisco and Reuben on the job.  He made some stirfry for lunch.  This is the first meal he has had in 24 hours.  I am going to do my fast on Sunday.  This was yummy!
Stirfry Delight!
I gave James a haircut in the dining room so I could watch TV while I was doing it.  Not a good idea.  The light wasn't good enough and there were a couple of nicks in the back.  Hopefully no one will notice.  I also cleaned an ink stain off his suit and ironed his white shirt, and typed his talk.

The wind is howling outside as we watch our Christmas movies: "The Road to Christmas", and "A Merry Mix-up Christmas."
