"It is better to prepare and prevent than it is to repair and repent."
-Ezra Taft Benson

There was so much fog this morning I couldn't see the sun or my mountain, Sierra Montosa.

James has got some major truck problems.  I think he may have gotten a lemon.  He needs new brakes, a new radiator, and something else.  Erik is going to put in new brakes this week and the radiator next week.  I wish we could afford to buy a new truck but it wouldn't be a good idea right now.

There were lots of clouds today but not much rain.  There has been some flooding in the valley.

Our young women's president, Diana Curtis is gone to Utah for a Curtis family reunion so that means I'm sort of in charge at Young Women's  Tonight we had: Kilee, LeeAnn, Hope, Heaven, Alice, Trenda, Shelly, Jordyn and Kelly.  I missed Maddie but later I found out her dog Bumpy got hit by a car.  I also found out Hope is in a relationship (she's too young!), and Arizona is practicing with her bow so she can go archery deer hunting next week.  I got all of this information on Facebook.  I made Rice Krispy treats for the girls but they were too hard and crunchy.  I think I put too many Rice Krispies in them.  Tonight we did a little Personal Progress working on the value Good Works and then I turned the time over to Trenda so we could plan next week's combined activity.  We are doing something called "A Minute to Win It."

When I got home from Mutual I tried to call Jared but he didn't answer.

Watched "So You Think You Can Dance."

"The Savior makes all things right.  No injustice in mortality is permanent, even death, for He restores life again.  No injury, disability, betrayal, or abuse goes uncompensated in the end because of His ultimate justice and mercy."
-Elder D. Todd Christofferson
 Salt Lake temple

I waited for the rain all day today but it was a no show.  James called and asked me if I was sure I wanted to come down there this weekend because it was 5:30 and 112 degrees.  I am not looking forward to the weather but I am looking forward to the baby blessing and going to the temple on Saturday morning with Kim and Sheri.

At 5:30 this afternoon we had our Young Women's presidency meeting.  Actually it should be called the older women's presidency meeting.  Analee is in her 70's, Ruth is 68, I am 65 and Diana is 60.  For Young Women's this evening we had opening exercises without the young men because they are working at the park helping to clean up for Vernon Days this Saturday.  This was the first time for our new Laurel president Trenda to conduct as she has been gone most of the summer.  After opening exercises we divided into classes and worked on Personal Progress.  I had LeeAnn, Kilee, and Hope.  I was excited that Hope had done several value projects on her own and LeeAnn is on fire and will be completely finished before too long.  She is motivated by the fact that her parents told her she needed to get her medallion before she turns 16 and gets her driver's license.

Around 7:50 we were going over to the park to take the young men some ice cream treats, but as we looked across to the park we noticed it was dark and no one was there.  Brother DeWitt was in the church so we asked him where everyone was.  He said they quit early.  We enjoyed the ice cream with the young women out on the lawn of the church.

James took Ruby to Golden Corral for her date this evening.  They had a wonderful time and I am afraid this little girl has her grandpa wrapped around her little finger.
Pizza and mac&cheese
 Chocolate dipped strawberries
Ice cream to go with the strawberries
 This girl loves chocolate!

I loved this week's episode of So You Think You Can Dance.
My favorite dances were: Casey & Jessica's contemporary, Ricky & Valerie's Hiphop, and Rudy & Tanisha's contemporary.  Mandy Moore and Travis Wall are the best choreographers!
Top Ten with Allstars next week.  I can hardly wait!

No walk this morning because of rain.  I had to rescue our rocking chairs off the front porch.
I got a text from my friend Paula Casto this morning.  She and her daughter Tanae were coming on Friday evening for a visit.  In the text she said they would not be coming because they had things they needed to get done on Saturday.  I was quite disappointed and I think James was too.  We were looking forward to their visit.  To get over my disappointment I watched "SYTYCD."  It was all-stars week.
For lunch I made some chili out of the left over baked beans from last night.
It was a little bit of a lazy day for me.  I guess I was tired from yesterday and last night.  I did make a decision that I would go with James to the valley tomorrow.  He has to go to Stone Creek Golf Course in Paradise Valley and look at some work that they want him to do.  He was happy I had decided to go with him.  When I told Darrel & Trina they invited us to go to lunch with them for my birthday.  Woohoo!
This afternoon James and I had to go in to town to fill a prescription for him.  We also had to buy more naprosen.  Since James is taking it too we run out very quickly.  I must say since he went off the hydrocodone he has seemed more like his old self.  We did get the news today that Dr. Memon will absolutely not let James go off his blood thinners for at least 6 month or possibly a year.
This evening we watched  The Rock Center with Brian Williams which featured "Mormons in America."  I felt like they did a good job, got most of the facts correct, portrayed things for the most part how they are.  I was offended that they showed temple garments.  They gave Abbie Huntsman way too much air time and for what reason I have no idea since there are around 5,999,999 other Mormons in America they could have interviewed. She is no longer a practicing Mormon.  They did a segment on welfare square and how the Church takes care of its own which was wonderful.  They also did another segment on an interracial family who is a wonderful example of a family that lives the gospel.
They showed a gay man who holds a leadership position in his ward.  They brough out the fact that because he remains celibate he is in good standing with the Church.
One aspect I thought they got fundamentally wrong, which is unfortunate, is they talked about  how men and women are unequal as members of the Church.  I think if you asked the vast majority of members of the Church they would agree that men and women are equal in importance but they each have different roles to fill.  To assume because the Church has a male priesthood hierarchy that somehow by default that makes men more important and women less important is missing the entire essence of the teachings of salvation.  In this Church we believe  that neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.

We are down to the top ten on So You Think You Can Dance and I am glad to say that both of my Utah girls, Witney and Lindsey made it.  This week was Mia Michaels week.  It was fun to be reminded of all the cool dances Mia has choreographed but I am not sure I like remakes.  Napoleon and Tabitha had a baby boy since the last session.  They named him London.  I wonder if that was because he was born during the London Olympics.
Instead of listening to music during my walk this morning I decided to listen to General Conference talks.  I feel like I am multitasking and enjoyed the spiritual upliftment.
I started using the shakes I got from Drea Monday night.  I have one in the morning, and one at night in place of breakfast and dinner.  So far I have lost 3 lbs.  My goal is 30 lbs. by Thanksgiving.

We had to make another trip to town today.  This time we deposited some money from our National Bank account into the Lambson Construction account. While I was picking up some things at Walmart I got a call from our Young Women's President.  We were scheduled to have a presidency meeting at 3pm but she cancelled.  She said she had a tooth pulled on Monday and it was still bothering her.  She also said she would be gone on Sunday and asked if I would give the lesson.  I was actually excited because the lesson is on scripture study, one of my favorite topics.

So far I have had the orange julius shake and the snickerdoodle.  They are both very tasty.  I watched Project Runway while James did something in the bedroom.  Raoul went home again.  I am so glad.  He cannot sew or design and he looks like Eddie Munster.
