Jesus Christ, Head of Church
Ephesians 5:23
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Book of Mormon
Mormon 5:13-6:5
New Testament
Review James: Begin studying 1 and 2 Peter: "Teaching with Power" YouTube lesson. Read all of 1 and 2 Peter and use the headings the in the New Testament Study Manual as an outline.

10/19 General Conference
"The Second Great Commandment"
President Russell M. Nelson
"My dear brothers and sisters, thank you for all you are doing to help gather Israel on both sides of the veil, to strengthen your families and to bless the lives of those in need. Thank you for living as true followers of Jesus Christ. You know and love to obey His two great commandments, to love God and to love your neighbors."

We had two youth speakers in sacrament meeting today. Talena Singleton spoke about Sister Franco's conference talk, "Finding Joy in Sharing the Gospel." Sister Franco says to pray to be directed to someone to share the gospel with or someone to help. Talk to people. Take a Book of Mormon and Pass-along cards with you wherever you go.
Hollie Hunsaker spoke about repentance and worthiness to enter the temple. She said, "I want to be a better person." She referred to a talk given by Elder Robert C. Gay, "Taking Upon Ourselves the Name of Jesus Christ."
Owen Peeler: "True Disciples of the Savior" by Elder Terence M. Vinson. Haggai chastized the Israelites for not building the temple. What is our Prophet asking us to do? "We can feel enduring joy when our Savior and His gospel become the framework around which we build our lives." Be committed. "It's not our successes but rather our sacrifice and efforts that matter to the Lord. Brother Peeler would make a comment and then say, "Consider your ways."

Becky Skousen was the teacher in Relief Society today. She taught from Sister Michelle D. Craig's October conference talk, "Spiritual Capacity." Here are some notes from Sister Craig's talk:
"As Jesus Christs' faithful disciple, you can receive personal inspiration and revelation, consistent with His commandments, that is tailored to you."
President Russell M. Nelson: "I plead with you to increase your spiritual capacity to receive revelation ... Choose to do the spiritual work required to enjoy the gift of the Holy Ghost and hear the voice of the Spirit more frequently and more clearly."
Four ways to increase your spiritual capacity to receive revelation:
1. Be Intentional about Creating Time and Space to Hear God's Voice - His voice will become clearer and more familiar. Pick a time and place and listen for God's voice everyday.
2. Act without Delay - Receive promptings and act with intention. Pray, listen, act. If you delay, you might forget the prompting and miss the chance to help someone.
3. Get Your Errand from the Lord. - President Henry B. Eyring has taught us to seek revelation by asking God who we can help for Him. When you are on the Lord's errand you qualify for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
4. Believe and Trust - We all have a different mission to perform. There are many ways to help build His kingdom. Nephi, brother of Jared, Moses were all commanded to build vessels to use on the water yet all of their experiences were different. Be prepared to receive unique guidance and then trust and act. Draw nearer to Jesus Christ. Become an instrument in His hands.

This was a wonderful lesson and Becky is a great example and teacher to the sisters in our ward. I sat by Michelle Tesarek and after the lesson I told her it was a pleasure to sit by her. She thanked me and gave me a hug.

Becky had a bit of a coughing spell during her lesson. I got up to get her a drink of water and when I walked past Sister Judy Hunter she handed me a small bottle of water. Thank you Judy. I wanted to ask Judy why she is using a cane today but I didn't get a chance to.
Kerri had also offered Becky some hard candy which she always carries with her because her mom is diabetic and for other reasons too.

Today we got the invitation to the ward Christmas party. These invitations we made by Michelle Tesarek.

Sounds like fun!

We had soup and turkey sandwiches for lunch. James choked on the turkey and was pretty miserable. He still struggles from his surgery.
Ice cream and sherbet are my downfalls today. James took a long nap.

I am a week behind on my blog so I worked on my blog this afternoon. Early evening we FaceTimed with Jared, Kacey, and Charlie. This is something we look forward to all week, kind of like Sheri looks forward to talking to Ben every week.

Charlie wasn't too interested in us. I have decided I am going to be more prepared in the future. I am going to have a snowman next week and I'm going to try and sing "Frosty the Snowman." Hopefully James will help me.

I asked Jared and Kacey's new callings. Kacey is the Sunbeam teacher and she enjoyed her day. Since her partner was not with her Jared took Charlie. He is the Priest quorum specialist but had to leave because of Charlie.

This evening we listened to "Teaching with Power" on next week's Come Follow Me lesson, 1 and 2 Peter. James invited the Peeler's and the Goodman's to come over tomorrow night for FHE and to discuss this week's Come Follow Me lesson. It should be fun.

I like the candy cane hearts. In our presidency meeting
recently the others seemed to think we didn't need to do gifts for the sisters in our ward. The consensus was to let their ministering sisters give them gifts. Tamara had said we had some candy canes.
I am looking for an idea of gifts using candy canes. I guess I need to check our Pinterest.

Happy Sabbath from Charlie!

 Love her smile!

Pam and Larry
In our years in Chandler we knew Larry and Aileen Butler
and Brother and Sister Lucas. Brother Lucas and Sister Aileen Butler passed away and Larry and Pam got married.
Larry is from Taylor and Pam moved to Snowflake after her husband passed away. I'm not sure where they live now. I am happy for them.

James just gave me this picture he took on the day Kacey, Jared, and Charlie left. I think it's better than the one I posted so I'm posting this one too,

General Conference
Hearing His Voice
David P. Homer
"Mountain climbers commonly refer to altitudes above 8,000 meters as the 'death zone' because at those heights there is not enough oxygen to sustain life. There is a spiritual equivalent to the death zone. If we spend too much time in faithless places, seemingly well-intended voices deprive us of the spiritual oxygen we need."

Shipped the book "Room" which we sold merchant fulfilled and James picked up 12 books at the post office. We also sold a Prentice Hall Chemistry book for $27.00.

We had breakfast and a "Come Follow Me" lesson with the kids.
We showed a picture of and talked about "The Last Supper" and the sacrament.

We talked about always remembering the Savior and what he has done for us.

It was all about the tea party this morning although Rowan kept checking the animal traps to see if they caught any bunnies or rats.

We got out the nice tablecloth, a beautiful table runner that Lois made on her machine which was covered with flowers and set the table with my nice china. I made pink baby cupcakes and Ruby helped me make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with the crust cut off. We had cherries and strawberries, granola bars and trail mix to put in the beautiful stacked food servers.

We decorated our hats and wore our boas to the party. Grandpa and Rowan were the servers.

The servers joined in tasting the delicious food.
They did not want to have their picture taken though.

The pink cupcakes were a big favorite.

Ruby chose beautiful yellow flowers for her hat to match her yellow "scarf" as Lola calls them.

Grandpa took the kids on a Razr ride both this afternoon and this evening. This evening they saw 7 elk and Ruby spotted a porcupine.

The kids watched the movie "Zootopia" while gramma worked on her blog.

After two Razr rides the kids were ready for showers and then we ate fried spaghetti for dinner. Instead of a movie this evening the kids played a game of Uno.
