Bountiful, Utah

Dedicated: 8 Jan 1995
By: Howard W. Hunter

Jesus Christ, Creator
Hebrews 11:3
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Book of Mormon
Alma 41:1-15
* Why is it requisite for all things to be restored in the last days?
- How could the Atonement of Jesus Christ be effective it it was not requisite for all things to be restored. The plan of restoration is requisite with the justice of God. Men are judged according to their works. Wickedness never was happiness. Give mercy to receive mercy. That which you send out shall be returned unto you. Restoration condemneth the sinner.
Old Testament
Esther 6-8
6 Mordecai receives great honors - Haman mourns and is counseled by his wife.
7 Esther reveals Haman's plot to destroy the Jews - He is hanged on his own gallows.
8 Mordecai is honored and placed over the house of Haman - Ahasuerus issues a decree to preserve the Jews.
General Conference
Behold the Man!
Dieter F. Uchtdorf
"Because of Jesus Christ, we will rise from the despair of death and embrace those we love, shedding tears of overwhelming joy and overflowing gratitude. Because of Jesus Christ, we will exist as eternal beings, worlds without end. Because of Jesus the Christ, our sins can not only be erased; they can be forgotten. We can become purified and exalted. Holy. Because of our beloved Savior, we can forever drink from the fountain of water that springs up into eternal life. We can dwell forever in the mansions of our eternal King, in unimaginable glory and perfect happiness."

We left for the temple this morning at 5:40. On the way we listened to our scriptures from the Old Testament, I read from the Book of Mormon, and we listened to Elder Uchtdorf's conference address, Behold the Man! We already had family prayer before we left the house. It's a beautiful morning and we are always anxious to get to the temple in time to get dressed and be to preparation meeting by 6:55.

President Palmer and his wife did the training in preparation meeting. We watched three films about patrons having a good experience in the temple.

My first assignment was locker room at 730. Sisters started pouring in for the 8 a.m. session. We willed up the ten lockers quickly and I started over. Some lockers had three people assigned.

After locker room I went downstairs to be greeter 2. There are three greeters, one stands and asks the people as they come in if they are going to a session. Two helps new people and runs errands as needed and three is for the baptistry. The baptistry greeter wasn't there so I showed people to the chapel and told the baptistry director.

Sister Johnson, the wife of one of the sealers asked me if I wanted to do sealings with my husband who was already in the sealing room. I said yes and she said she would take my next assignment at the sealers desk downstairs.

When I got to the sealing room, Brother Flake was the sealer and the other sealer, Brother Johnson, was a witness. James and I were able to do sealings for some of my Strickland and Rutledge relatives. I thanked Sister Johnson when I saw her again.

I was only there for 30 minutes and then I had to go back down to the sealing desk under the stairs just off the entry to the temple.

Sister Higgins, a sweet hispanic sister who works on our shift asked me if I would help her organize her stack of sealing cards.  That is part of my job and I said I would be happy to help her. There were some cards already done, some that needed more information, and there were 3 couples to be sealed, 16 sons to parents, and 18 daughters to parents. She is going to take them up and do them at 10. I told her everything she needed to do. Glad I could be of service to her.  Oh yes, something interesting about her cards. The submitters name was Beatrice Lambson. I pointed that out to her and I assume it was her name because she said, oh yes, that was a long time ago.  I need to find out who she was married to.

During my break I visited with Sister Flake whose husband is the sealer. I told her what a good sealer I thought he was and she said yes, she agreed. She told me what a blessing it has been to him in his life. He says, "can you imagine me, an old cowboy, being a sealer in the temple." She said it is very easy for him to memorize things. He loves to recite poetry and he entertained family members at her family reunion with both inspirational poems and cowboy poems. Sister Flake is from Alpine and I told her my grandpa was born in Nutrioso. It's a small world. She told me about her dad dying from an infection in his leg, the same kind Joseph Smith had. He would not let the doctor amputate and he ended up dying of the infection. I feel like I made a new friend in her.

This afternoon I worked in the Celestial room and saw Sandy's sister Connie again. I guess she and her husband were the witness couple in the session that James was the follower in.

I got off an hour early today because there was nothing for me to do. I went downstairs and waited in the car for James.

Before going home we went in to Show Low and got orange chicken, beef and broccoli, rice and noddles at Panda Express, enough to feed four people. We also stopped by and picked up two Oreo Blizzards at Dairy Queen. We are feeding the missionaries.

We got home and while I rested James had an unexpected visit from Brother Valentic who is up here from Chandler. He is in Sheri's ward and when James told him that Ben had received his mission call he was very happy. He said, "You know, I watch him bless the sacrament and he has a glow about him." Brother Valentic use to have Alex as a home teaching companion and really likes him too. He hopes because of Ben's example he might want to serve a mission.

Elder Bernecker and Elder Bingham were right on time. We enjoyed our dinner and then visiting afterwards. Elder Bingham is from Idaho and I asked him how cold it gets in Idaho Falls. He said it can get 40 below. Sheri took Ben shopping today and he said he didn't need a hat or a scarf. He may change his mind when he gets there.

The elders' left before 7. James went out to work on his rabbit hutch and walk, and finish a sling he is making for his David and Goliath Primary lesson. I cleaned the kitchen, walked, and finished a Christmas movie I started yesterday.

I love that smile!

 How fun!

The beginnings of a beautiful day!

Alma 46:11-28
What is the significance of the title of liberty?

11 - Moroni becomes angry with Amalickiah.
12 - He rent his coat and wrote: "In memory of our God, ur religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children - and he fastened it upon the end of a pole.
13 - He put on his armor and he took his title of liberty and he bowed himself to the earth and he prayed mightily unto God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land.
15 - Those who belonged to the Church were faithful and took upon them the name of Christ.
16 - Moroni prayed that the cause of Christians and the freedom of the land might be favored.
17 - The north and south of the land Desolation Moroni called a choice land.
18 - God surely will not allow the Christians to be destroyed unless we bring it upon ourselves.
19 - Moroni goes among the people waving the title of liberty saying:
20 - Behold, whosoever will maintain this title upon the land, let them come forth in the strength of the Lord, and enter into a covenant that they will maintain their rights, and their religion, that the Lord God may bless them.
21 - The people came running with their armor on rending their garments in token, or as a covenant that they would not forsake the Lord their God, or, if they should transgress the commandments or fall into transgression, and be ashamed to take upon them the name of Christ, the Lord should rend them even as they had rent their garments.
22 - They cast their garments at the feet of Moroni saying: We covenant with our God, that we shall be destroyed, even as our brethren in the land northward, if we shall fall into transgression; yea, he may cast us at the feet of our enemies, even as we have cast our garments at thy feet to be trodden under foot, if we shall fall into transgression.
23 - Moroni said unto them:  Behold, we are a remnant of the seed of Jacob; yea, we are a remnant of the seed of Joseph, whose coat was rent by his brethren into many pieces; yea, and now behold, let us remember to keep the commandments of God, or our garments shall be rent by our brethren, and we be cast into prison, or be sold, or be slain.
24 - Let us preserve our liberty as a remnant of Joseph; yea, let us remember the words of Jacob, before his death, for behold, he saw that a part of the remnant of the coat of Joseph was preserved and had not decayed.  And he said - Even as this remnant of garment of my son hath been preserved, so shall a remnant of the seed of my son be preserved by the hand of God, and be taken unto himself, while the remainder of the seed of Joseph shall perish, even as the remnant of his garment.
25 - Now behold, this giveth my soul sorrow; nevertheless, my soul hath joy in my son, because of that part of his seed which shall be taken unto God.
26 - Now behold, this was the language of Jacob.
27 - And now who knoweth but what the remnant of the seed of Joseph, which shall perish as his garment, are those who have dissented from us?  Yea, and even it shall be ourselves if we do not stand fast in the faith of Christ.
28 - Moroni continues to gather people seeking liberty to stand against Amalickiah and the dissenters.

What can we do today?  Be an active citizen and promote liberty and freedom.  President Ezra Taft Benson said:
"Improve your community by active participation and service."

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke

The struggle for liberty is a continuing one.
The torn coat of Moroni - "The Title of Liberty was a reminder of the preserved remnant of the coat of Joseph of Egypt.  That remnant now found among the Lamanites shall eventually partake of the blessings of the Gospel.  They shall unite with the remnant which is being gathered from among the nations and they shall be blessed of the Lord forever." - Pres. Joseph Fielding Smith

Saturday James and I usually get up and drive to the Snowflake temple for the 8 a.m. endowment session.  This morning I decided I wanted to spend time with Jared and his kids because I don't know when I will see them again.  The kids are moving to San Antonio with Tricia this next week.  James stayed home and kept Alex and Seth busy.  Adam slept in and acted like he was not feeling well.

It was a beautiful day to be outside.  The high was around 65-70 and there were big fluffy clouds in the gorgeous blue sky.  Here are some of the activities the kids participated in:
I think this is James.  He just jumped off
a 45 foot tower onto a huge air mattress.
The first step is the longest.
This is Molly coming down the slide in a tube.
Molly and Emmy.
You know it's hard when Emmy doesn't make it to the top.
Riding the lift to the top of the mountain is a must!
So relaxing and peaceful and the scenery is beautiful!
What's at the top of the mountain?
Delicious Navajo tacos,
made by the Apache tribe.
Anna and her friend, Joe.
Even Emmy had to slow down for a bite.
Of course we had to take pictures.
It was the perfect day.
I am so glad I came.

When we returned home it was time for dinner and Molly's party.
James and I were going to start our fast this afternoon but Jared tempted us with ribs.  They were delicious!

After dinner it was time to party!  Kim and Brian arrived while we were gone to Sunrise.  They are always a nice edition to any party.  Molly was especially happy to see Kim and Anna loves Brian.
The perfect cake, pink and purple on the outside
and rainbow blast inside.
Go Molly!
It looks like she got them all.
A nice art kit from dad.
Checking it out.
A sketch book.  Molly was surprised that it
didn't have any pictures to color.
We gave her a pretty CTR necklace with pink jewels around the outside.  Her birthday celebration was a good one.  She will be 7 on Monday.

Happy Birthday Molly!
Her birthday isn't until the 8th, but we are celebrating today.

I know I posted them yesterday but because they are so special I am posting them again.  The flowers my grandchildren picked for me and the notes they left on the vases.

I love my sweet granddaughters!

Jared and Trina took their kids to Sunrise to ride the slide they have there in the summer time.  It looks like they had a great time.

James and I were home alone for a few hours today.  I studied my Primary lesson and read to James from our book, "The Curiosity Shop" by Sarah Ladd.

When the kids got back from Sunrise they had a fun time playing with the Nerf guns I got for Christmas.  They also found a baby bunny outside and were so excited to try and follow him.
Cinderella and Rapunzel looking for the baby bunny.
Lola practiced walking on the front porch.
James and Rowan bonded over video games.
Here they are playing Minecraft.
Trina made macaroni and cheese for dinner and then Molly ad Ruby had baths.  This is what my bathroom looked like when the were finished.
Strawberry Shortcake and all of her friends
got their hair washed.

The birthday girl!

Her favorite gift from us was the Cinderella wig.

In other Lambson family news, Jasmine was married today on the beach in Oregon.
Congratulations Jasmine!
