Jesus Christ, Creator
DC 88:7
Which truth shineth. This is the light of Christ. As also he is in the sun, and the light of the sun, and the power thereof by which it was made.
Book of Mormon
Alma 50:21-40
*Why was there never a, "happier time among the people of Nephi"?
-Because happiness come from within, not from external circumstances. True joy comes from doing what's right. With personal righteousness and faithfulness comes peace, and blessings from God.
Old Testament
Psalms 15-19
15 David asks, Who will dwell in the Lord's holy hill? - He answers, The righteous, the upright, and those with integrity.
16 A messianic psalm of David - He rejoices in the Saints who are on the earth, in his own future redemption from hell, in the fact that God will not suffer His Holy One (the Messiah) to see corruption, and in the fulness of joy that is found in the Lord's presence.
17 David pleads with the Lord to hear his voice and to preserve him from men of the world - David hopes to behold the Lord's face in righteousness.
18 David praises the Lord for His greatness and preserving care - The Lord's way is perfect - The Lord has given marvelous blessings - David testifies, The Lord lives, and blessed be my Rock.
19 David testifies, The heavens declare the glory of God, the law of the Lord is perfect, and the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

Behold! A Royal Army
Elder Ronald A. Rasband
"I testify that as we move forward with this inspired quorum restructuring in our wards and stakes, we will see a multitude of blessings. Let me cite just a few examples.
Under the direction of the bishop, more priesthood resources may assist with the work of salvation. This would include the gathering of Israel through temple and family history work, working with families and individuals in need, and helping the missionaries to bring souls to Jesus Christ.
As previous presiding leaders return to share their experience with the quorum of elders, a stronger quorum membership will result.
There will be a greater diversity of gifts and capacities within the quorum."

Happy 12th Birthday Joshua

Joshua bears his testimony every month in sacrament meeting.
He is very knowledgeable about WW II as we discovered on
his recent birthday date.
He is very thoughtful and kind to others and I call him
"Mr. Personality"!

Getting ready to blow!

I attended a card making class at the Vernon library this morning with my friends, Linda, Catherine, Judy and Lorraine. There were 15 women in all, but I only knew the above mentioned.
The class started out with 3 guest speakers from the District Library Board: Sue Ann, Jamie, and Dolly. Dolly also serves on the Apache County Historical Society of Arizona.
These three women shared their enthusiasm for journaling, dot journaling to be specific. Funny that this is the first time I have heard the term dot journaling yet recently when I was at Barne & Noble I bought a dot journal. I guess I was inspired because I am super excited about this concept. I came home and downloaded the book, for free I might add, "Dot Journaling, A Practical Guide," by Rachel Wilkerson Miller.
A dot journal is a place to keep all calendars, tasks, and future to do's and events. You gear it totally to your needs. It is also a place to express creativity. Dotty loves to draw birds so her journal had a picture of an eagle she had drawn. Jamie's birthday calender for the year was a balloon for each month with birthday's for that month written inside. Sue Ann is not artistic so she uses stickers and clip art to express her creativity. I am so excited to convert my planner into a dot journal!

After Jamie, Sue Ann, and Dotty left we ate our lunch and began our card making. There were five presenters: Linda, Judy, Elizabeth, Dianne, and the Mickey Mouse lady, I can't remember her name but she loves Mickey Mouse.

Each of these women had made card kits for each of us. Each month several other women will do the same. Here are the cards we made today:
The mermaid card was my favorite

It was after 2 when I got home and the class had started at 10. I was beat. I rested, did my steps, and read with James.

When James got home from the Howard's he showered and headed to the Morrison's to assess the water damage in their new home. Not really new, but new to them.

Sore knees, I can't keep this up.

That is my goal but I have a long ways to go.

Happy Birthday Joshua!
Ten candles make quite a blaze.
Joshua wanted to eat hamburgers with his brothers and
watch the newest Star Wars movie with these friends.

Just a couple of years ago we were at Joshua's baptism.
A happy day!

Alma 50:21-40
21 - The Nephites quarreling and contentions, and their murderings, their plunderings, their idolatry, whoredoms, and their abominations which were among themselves, which brought upon them their wars and destructions.
22 - Those who were faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord were delivered at all times, while thousands of their wicked brethren were consigned to bondage or to perish by the sword or to dwindle in unbelief, and mingle with the Lamanites.
23 - There never was a happier time since the days of Nephi, among the Nephites than in the days of Moroni:(This pertains to the people in the Church).
26 - A warm contention arose in the 24th year between the people of Morianton and Lehi.  The people of Morianton took up arms against their brethren to slay them.
27 - The people of Lehi, who had done no wrong, appealed to Moroni.
29 - Morianton convinces his people to flee to the land northward
35 - Teancum slays Morianton and defeats his army.
37 - Nephihah dies.
40 - Nephihah's son Pahoran becomes the cheif judge.

GC: "Always Retain a Remission of Your Sins" by Elder David A. Bednar

In our Primary class today our lesson was on "Samuel the Lamanite."  We have a new class member, Kaden Singleton, Nadine Singleton's grandson.  Zemira and Curtis were the only other ones in class today.

In sacrament meeting Aaron Windsor, returned missionary from the Reno, Nevada, spoke.  Before the meeting Aaron told me he knew Vernon Lambson.  It's a small world.  Aaron said he went to the temple this past week to pray for guidance as to what to say today.
He received the answer: "Testify of me."  He spoke on the Savior's Atonement and then shared an experience on his mission.  He was in a members home with his companion and they had just taught a discussion to an invesigator.  They had knelt down to pray and as Elder Windsor got up he looked into a mirror on the wall.  Instead of seeing his image, he saw the image of the Savior.  He was reminded that as a missionary he was the Savior's representative on the earth.  This was a powerful message to him that what he was doing was accepted of the Savior.  James said he thought of the scripture: "Have ye received His image in your countenance?"
Aaron acknowledge his weaknesses and says he doesn't know why he was given that experience, but he is grateful for it.

After the block today Zemira and I went to visit a boy in our class who does not attend, Cameron Kenyon.  We took him a plate of cookies and invited him to attend.  Cameron is a sweet boy and he said: "I am going to ask my dad to wake me up early so I can come."

Zemira took home a plate of chocolate chip cookies for himself and his family.  He told me last week that they were his favorite.

This is my sister-in-law Laura's family tree.
I want James to make me one for our family pictures.

James and Rick Lauritzen went home teaching this afternoon.  They visited Jerry and Millie Scott and Virgil Cooper.  Millie sent us some apricot pineapple jam and some apple butter.  Jerry encouraged James to read a book by Cleon Skousen called "The Cleansing of America."  James asked me to order it and I told him I already had it.  This made him happy!

I read a chapter from "The Painter's Daughter" to James.  I also read from "The Power of Everyday Missionaries", and "Christ in Every Hour."

It was a wonderful Sabbath day.  I will be leaving Vernon early on Tuesday to spend most of the week in the valley.  I can hardly wait to return.
The road to Vernon.

Happy 8th Birthday to Joshua.
Here he is at the Lego Store playing with
Evan and Max.  Joshua is smart, witty,
kind and thoughtful and I love him!

I called Joshua this morning just as he was walking out the door to go to school.  I told him I hoped he had a great day and his response was: "Oh, I will grandma!"

Joshua's baptism is this Saturday.  I was going to come down today and take him on his birthday date but Stacy said that tomorrow would be better, so I decided to wait until tomorrow to leave.  I think James was a little disappointed.  His pour at Hatch Hanger for tomorrow was cancelled which means he wouldn't be going to bed at 6pm as originally planned.  I hope he will forgive me.

President Hatch and his family are flying to an island in the Caribbean to go scuba diving.  They leave tomorrow.  James presented him with a bill and he left James a check in his office to pick up when the next pour is done.  He is such a great guy to work for.

I had a nice talk with Jared this morning.  I left him a message last night and he called me back.  His positive attitude and testimony are very refreshing.

James took Joshua out to eat tonight for his birthday.  I think he was hoping Joshua would chose Golden Corral but Joshua wanted to go to Florindino's to get back ziti.  I am sorry that James didn't get a picture.

Happy 7th Birthday to Joshua!
I went to bed early enough last night then Zaki called at 11pm and woke me up.  In spite of this interruption I was up at 5:30 for the day.  For breakfast I had lemon lush pie.

The high today was somewhere between 80-85.  I even had to turn the AC on for awhile in the bedroom while I was working on the computer.  James had to get a jacket.  I don't know what he's going to do this winter.

I made a nice lunch for James and then told him he could have leftovers for dinner.  I left around 4:40 to go visiting teaching to Rosie Lauritzen  The message was on welfare and I took her a little jar of honey.  Rosie gave me a birthday gift and card and told me I was the best visiting teacher she's ever had.  Wow!  That made my day!

After leaving Rosie's I went to the post office and then to class presidency meeting at the Church.  Our calender is full for the next three months.

For Mutual Sister Hunsaker finished Personal Progress interviews and the Laurels, Jordyn and Hailey, played Jenga.  The Mia Maids and Beehives did gymnastics and played basketball in the gym.

Today is Joshua's 6th Birthday.  I went down this morning before he went to school and got this pictures of him on his new Spiderman bike.  He's also eating a banana and as an added bonus Holly is in the picture.
These pictures were taken at Joshua's party which was actually held on Friday, August 17th.  I wasn't there but Sheri took some great pictures for me!

I couldn't resist this one of Kimmy and Joshy Bo.

James left for Scottsdale around 5am.  I got up and made him a chocolate Visalua shake before he left.  Later he told me it may have saved his life.  Well at least it got him through the morning.  Lado(Christopher) showed up to help him and then he got 3 guys who work at the golf course to help.  Things went well and I am so proud of my hubby who does what needs to be done even when he is in such pain.  Thanks honey for all you hard work.  It was 115 today and he didn't get home until around 4pm.

These are some of the things Sheri and I did today before she had to go to work.  Went to Circle K for a drink, shopped at Super Target (man I love that store), went to Trina's and took Ruby and Addy and Rowan some Powerade.  Addy and Ruby have both been sick with sore throats.  While there I played a game of Headbanz with Ruby and Addy.
Our last stop was Costa Vida's for lunch.  I love there sweet pork salad. I brought James back two chicken tacos and some beans. Sheri texted me from work and said that Dr. Carpenter wanted to give her a raise.  Good for you Sheri!
I drove to Payson pulling James's extra long work trailer.  On the way we saw a fire and it also rained.

James drove from Payson on.  It was nice to be home and feel that cool air.  Before going to bed we watched the season finale of Rizzoli and Isles.
