11th operating temple
Dedication: 20-22 April 1958
By: David O. McKay

Jesus Christ, Judge
Alma 5:15
Do ye exercise faith in the redemption of him who created you? Do you look forward with an eye of faith, and view this mortal body raised in immortality, and this corruption raised in incorruption, to stand before God to be judged according to the deeds which have been done in the mortal body?
Book of Mormon/"Come Follow Me"

I

I love my hours in the morning devoted to gospel study. I still can't seem to stay on my schedule though. I am getting further behind on my blog. Tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday I will try to catch up.

I emailed the ministering sisters in my district to remind them of tomorrow's fast. I also asked them to contact the sisters they minister to as a reminder regarding the fast.

James made grilled tuna sandwiches with pepperjack cheese for lunch while I read from "Aunt Dimity and the Family Tree."

After lunch James left to work at the Howard's for a few hours. He was supposed to bring back Luna but Tom told him to wait until tomorrow and he would bring him in the trailer.

I was tired today and didn't feel like doing much so I watched a movie that's been in my DVR since Christmas. It's a Lifetime movie called "The Christmas Wish" starring Hilarie Burton. I have never seen it and enjoyed watching it. Hilarie is one of my favorites.

Today James and I read about Lazarus and planted some week grass to remind us that hope can unexpectedly come out of dark places.

This morning I read from Church History in the Fulness of Times, chapter 7, "The Infant Church Expands."

James went for a walk this afternoon, a rather long one I might add. I saw one lonely elk in the yard.

Kerri came by to return the container we took to her house with the ground wheat in it. She stay and visited for awhile.

After Kerri left we had dinner and then started our fast.

 We had some rain today

Salt Lake, Utah
4th operating temple
Dedicated: 6-24 April 1893
By: Wilford Woodruff

Atonement
2 Nephi 11:5
Jesus Christ, Advocate
DC 45:3
Listen to him who is the advocate with the Father, who is pleading your cause before him-
Alma 43:27-40
Moroni acted on the knowledge he received from the prophet
*What did you notice about the Lamanites' reasons for fighting? (29-30)
*What were the Nephites' reasons for fighting?
*What can we learn from the examples of Moroni and his army to help us in our battles against the adversary?
Principles:
1. As we pray for help in accomplishing our righteous plans and desires, God will help us accomplish them.
2. We are inspired by a better cause than those who oppose the truth.
3. The Lord will help us fulfill our duty to defend our families, our liberty, and our religion.
DC 107:21-40
21-38, The First Presidency, the Twelve, ad the Seventy constitute the presiding quorums, whose decisions are to be made in unity and righteousness;
What attributes must be present in the quorums for them to make righteous decisions?
*"Every decision made by either of these quorums must be made by the unanimous voice." (27). When unity is present among individuals, peace and love are felt for those present and for those whom we serve. Families and marriages should be the same. Unity with the Lord is critical for our success.

" Service," Amy testifies, "saved my life. Where I ultimately found my strength to keep moving forward was the happiness I discovered in trying to relieve the suffering of those around me. (Amy has a very serious cancer.) I looked forward to our service projects with great joy and anticipation. You would think that someone who was bald, poisened, and fighting for her life was justified in thinking that 'right now it is all about me.' However, when I thought about myself, my situation, my suffering and pain, the world became very dark and depressing. When my focus turned to others, there was light, hope, strength, courage, and joy. I know that this is possible because of the sustaining, healing, and enabling power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ."

Today I spent some time on Family Search. I am trying to find a wedding date for William Walker and Sarah. The problem is the only information I have on Sarah is her name. My next step is to look for a marriage record in the early 1880's in Georgia.

We got a call from President Miller at the Snowflake temple today. We scheduled Wednesday, August 16th at 10 a.m. to meet with a member of the temple presidency about James and I becoming temple workers.

I left for town late morning with the intention of getting bloodwork done at Sonoran Lab for Dr. Moffat. When I got into town I discovered that the lab is closed from noon until one and it was about 12:15. I decided that next week when I get my infusion I will have them send lab results to Dr. Mofford. I went to Aliberto's and got my two tacos with rice and beans. I am saving the rice and beans for later. It was raining when I finished my lunch and headed for Walmart.

I did some shopping and picked up five prescriptions at Walmart. I talked to the pharmacist who knew Darrel. His name is Brett B. He is also a bishop in Show Low.

When I got home it was raining so James wanted to read on the deck. After reading I worked on my blog and cleaned the family and living room floors and dusted.

James spent the morning at the Howard's again. He came home exhausted. He also said that Brother Howard fell off the ladder and hit a tree.

Trina called today and said the only thing Rowan wanted for his birthday was to come to the cabin next weekend. I told her we would love that!

James and I watched "The Nanny Express" on the Hallmark channel this evening.

John 17:19
Atonement
3Nephi 13
Jesus teaches the Nephites the Lord's Prayer; They are to lay up treasures in heaven; The twelve disciples in their ministry are commanded to take no thought for temporal things.
Alma 19:1-11
King Lamoni and many of his people repent and are baptized.
*Ammon's missionary efforts caused a ripple effect: Ammon, King Lamoni, the queen, Lamoni's servants, Abish, and many other Lamanites.
*What can we learn about the queen in Alma 19:7-11?
DC 88:99-110
95-102, Angelic trumps call forth the dead in their order; 103-16, Angelic trumps proclaim the restoration of the gospel, the fall of Babylon, and the battle of the great God;
What things will be revealed?

"Walk With Me"
President Henry B. Eyring
"Every one being ordained after this order and calling should have power, by faith, to break mountains, to divide the seas, to dry up waters, to turn them out of their course; to put at defense the armies of nations, to divide the earth, to break every bond, to stand in the presence of God, to do all things according to His will, according to His command, subdue principalities and powers; and this by the will of the Son of God which was from the foundation of the world." (Joseph Smith)

The Power of the Book of Mormon
President Thomas S. Monson
"We live in a time of great trouble and wickedness. What will protect us from the sin and evil so prevalent in the world today?
I maintain that a strong testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and of His gospel will help see us through to safety."

James left for the Howard's around 6 a.m. to work. While he was gone I did my gospel study and then started to get ready to go to the valley. I am spending the week at our timeshare in Scottsdale.
Today I am picking up Darrel and Trina's girls to stay with me.
Before I left I made a green chili stew for James.  It is one of his favorite meals and I was going to fix it for him for Father's Day but James told me he would rather I didn't fix it on Sunday.  It was a good idea because he isn't coming down to the valley until Wednesday and now he will have something to eat in my absence.

I was able to say goodbye to James before I left at 1:45.  I stopped in Show Low at the McDonald's for an ice cream cone. I ended up getting a Happy Meal to go along with my cone because they were giving away Beanie Babies with their Happy Meals, or so I thought. Instead of a Beanie Baby I got a Smurf cup that I ended up throwing away.  What a waste and the food wasn't even that good.

I felt like I was falling asleep between Salt River Canyon and Globe so I stopped a few minutes to rest.  I also stopped in Globe to get gas and then at Walmart to get some earrings because I realize I forgot to wear any and if I don't put some in the holes in my ears will grow back together again. I get some earrings and put them in. I also got some cheese sticks and some cherries to eat on the way.  I do better about staying awake when I eat. This is why I should never drive on long trips.

I arrive at Darrel and Trina's around six. Rowan opens the door and gives me a big hug.  Trina is at work and Lola is asleep. Addy and Ruby are ready to go.

These headphones are her favorite birthday gift!

That's what I call a loaded backpack.
I wonder what's in there?

Addy's bag looks a little less full.

Our first stop was the Chandler mall where we had some
dinner and then took Ruby shopping. She must have spent an hour
in this store and came out with one fake pair of glasses!

Addy did a little decorating once we arrived at the timeshare.
Our timeshare is Sheraton Desert Oasis on
1770 N. Hayden Rd. in Scottsdale. We were assigned
units 1023 and 1024 this stay. I was happy to get downstairs units!

Someone's sleeping in my bed!

Yikes! An alien in the bathroom!

Bambi's going to do a little reading.

Cream staring at his reflection.

I think Flower wants a drink.

Right by the front door to welcome us as we come in.
Now I know what Ruby had in her backpack!

Addy watched "Beauty and the Beast" while I went in to put Ruby to be.  Michael had slept in the bed she was sleeping in the night before and she wanted to know if there were any bedbugs.  I assured her there weren't but we had to check anyway.  We sang, "I Am a Child of God", "Nephi's Courage," and "You Are My Sunshine." You Are My Sunshine is Ruby's signature song.
