Mosiah 29:1-15
The people follow Mosiah's counsel to establish a system of judges as their form of government.
* What did the sons of Mosiah give up so they could preach to the Lamanites?
* What are some opportunities young men and young women sacrifice or postpone today so they can serve missions?
Mormon 8
The Lamanites seek out and destroy the Nephites; The Book of Mormon will come forth by the power of God; Woes pronounced upon those who breathe out wrath and strife against the work of the Lord; The Nephite record will come forth in a day of wickedness, degeneracy, and apostasy. About A.D. 400-421.
DC 75:1-12
Faithful elders who preach the gospel will gain eternal life; Pray to receive the Comforter, who teaches all things;
How does prayer and asking for the Comforter go hand in hand when teaching?
* Verse 12...Behold, this is the will of the Lord your God concerning you. 1. That you call on the name of the Lord for the Comforter which shall teach you all things that the Lord sees fit (verse 10).  2. Pray always that you faint not; and inasmuch as you do this, I will be with you even unto the end (verse 11).
Let us call on the Lord always!  And pray for The Comforter.  I know I need it every hour of every day!

Overcoming the World
Elder Neil L. Andersen
"The blessings that the Lord has promised to those who overcome the world are breathtaking.  They will be 'clothed in white...and named in the book of life.' The Lord 'will confess their names before the Father, and before His angels.' Each shall have 'part in the first resurrection,' receive eternal life, and 'go no more out' from the presence of God.  Is it possible to overcome the world and receive these blessings?  Yes, it is."

James woke me up this morning around 5:30.  I would have been up on my own but I had another sleepless spell around 2:30.  I was a little grouchy and upset with him, but he made up for it by making me some oatmeal with walnuts for breakfast.  We left for home after a prayer, around 6:30.  Cathi and Terry and the doggies were still asleep.
Cathi is excited that her neighbors landscaping includes roses!

I posted this picture because it reminds me of what Lady looks like when James is lying on the bed and she comes to the edge of the bed begging for a treat.  The only difference is, her tongue is sticking out and wiggling.

Oh yes, and the other difference is,
Lady is a dog.

We stopped to get gas in Superior and then I ran into the Walmart in Globe to get a card and a gift card for Rachel's baby shower today.  I was happy to see the sign when we got to Show Low.  We were home before 10 a.m.

I hurry and unpack, iron me something to wear, shower and leave for Dennis's house around 11:30.  When I arrive and walk into the backyard Dennis is outside getting ready to grill hamburgers.  I walked into the kitchen and said hi to Rachel and Denise and Denise introduced me to a couple of her friends.  Jeff and Barb Caruthers were also there.  I asked where Vickie was and Denise said she was in the hospital with bronchial pneumonia.  When Monte and Tasha, Madison, Quentin, Zach, Brian, Jeffrey, and Colby arrived I mentioned that I was leaving early to go to the hospital to see Vickie.  None of them knew.  I did say Happy Birthday to Monte.  He is 47 today.  I left right after eating a green chili cheeseburger with potato salad and chips.  I got a cupcake to eat on the way out but threw most of it away.  I have an aversion to buttercream frosting.  Here is a picture of Rachel and Denise.

Rachel is due on July 27th.
She is having a girl.  No first name picked out, but the middle
name will be Lynn.  That should make Vickie happy because that is her middle name.

When I got to room 217 at the hospital Vickie was resting so peacefully I did not want to wake her up, so I left.  Later Harold told me she only got about an hours sleep because everybody kept waking her up.  I am so glad that I didn't.

After I did my shopping at Walmart, I was on the way home and saw this guy.
I felt like telling him, thanks for the reminder.

When I got home I was so tired, I kept taking catnaps on the couch.  I typed James's quotes for his lesson tomorrow, but I was too tired to work on my lesson.  After dinner, I went to bed before nine.  I brought James along with me.

Stacy, Paul, and Joshua went to Tombstone today.  Joshua is doing a school report on Wyatt Earp.  I guess they had a great time.

Joshua's favorite part was the silver mine.  Here
he is holding a piece of raw silver ore worth about $7,500.
Paul said it weighed about 35 lbs.

Joshua and some of his new friends.

Stacy says they do a haunted tour but you have
to be 13 and of course Joshua is only 10.

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

I got up at 5, did some studying, and then went back to bed and didn't wake up until 8:30.  We began packing up and soon left for home.  On our way we stopped at the Walmart in Chandler and then we stopped at Burger House in Miami.  On the way we listened to scriptures and then I slept while James drove.

We were back in Vernon in the early afternoon.  I watched the finale for The Voice.  I'm glad Tessanne won even though she if from Jamaica.  I loved her redition of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters", "Nowhere to Hide" and her duet with Adam, "Let It Be."

I tried to do some indexing but it was slow going.  I only did 15 names.

At six I met Diana Curtis and Kaeli Nicoll at the church to get Christmas goodie bags ready for the Young Women and to sign the CD's Kaeli made for them.  The CD's have the pictures from camp on them that Kaeli showed at our Young Women's in Excellence.

For mutual we went Christmas caroling with the Young Men.   Brother Mayfield brought his wagon with bales of hay for us to sit on.  The weather was nice enough for us to be out in the open and it was very enjoyable.  Westin Hall was such a gentleman.  He helped me in and out of the trailer at every stop.  The first home we went to was that of Alex Jones's.  We sang, but no one ever came to the door.  At Pasha Westbrook's she ask us to stop because her children were sleeping.  Every where else we went we were well received.  We sang at a nonmembers home and Kaeli invited them to church.  It was a fun and successful evening.  We had hot chocolate and cookies at the church.  The Young Women were in charge.
We sang by the light of the moon

Came home and watched Holidze with James, starring Jennie Garth and Cameron Mattison.
