Jesus Christ, Death of
Helaman 14:14
And behold, again, another sign I give unto you yea, a sign of his death.

Choose You This Day
Elder Dale G. Renlund
"Christ's advocacy is, at least in part, to remind us that He has paid for our sins and that no one is excluded from the reach of God's mercy. For those who believe in Jesus Christ, repent, are baptized, and endure to the end - a process that leads to reconciliation - the Savior forgives, heals, and advocates. He is our helper, consoler, and intercessor - attesting to and vouching for our reconciliation with God."

We got more snow during the night. Now there is 8". Joshua went out and shoveled snow off the sidewalk.

Michael put on his workout clothes and even though it was very cold outside he went for a run.

I like the purple Mikey, especially the shoes!

Shipley and Vader love the snow, especially Vader.

I worked on my 2019 budget today.

Michael and Joshua went for a Razr ride but it was snowing so much they had to come back.

I had leftover steak and a roll for lunch. James made steak, eggs, potatoes, and toast.

Stacy worked on the Starry Night puzzle and watched the movie, "I Walk the Line." The movie is a little depressing for me but Stacy loves it and says it is about redemption. It is but I just don't think it's a good movie to watch with your kids.

Stacy's car is covered with snow and she was afraid it was going to be stuck so James moved it for her. He almost got it stuck but was able to park it on the driveway. We now have 13" of snow. Are we snowed in?

For dinner we had pot roast, which Stacy said was delicious, mashed potatoes, broccoli and rolls. Since I made the dinner, Stacy did the dishes.

Michael and James played chess. James won.

Our satellite went down during "School of Rock." Michael had to knock the snow off the satellite dish and then it reset.

Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Look at the snow piled up on the picnic table.

Can you see the road?

It was piled much higher before it got
cleaned off.

Jesus Christ, Creator
Acts 7:50
Hath not my hand made all these things?
Book of Mormon
Alma 36:25-37:10
* How has God delivered you from your trials?
- He sent someone to save our concrete on July 18, 2016. God delivers me from my trials everyday. When I turn to Him and follow His ways my anxieties, doubts and fears disappear. I feel peace, love, and hope. He provides everything good in my life. When I stop focusing on worldly things and focus on Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, my life is happy.
Old Testament
Ezra 7-10
7 Ezra goes up to Jerusalem - Artaxerxes provides for beautifying the temple and sustains the Jews in their worship.
8 Those who go up from Babylon to Jerusalem are listed - The Levites are called to accompany them - Ezra and the people fast and pray for and gain guidance and protection in going to Jerusalem.
9 Many Jews intermarry with the Canaanites and others and follow their abominations - Ezra prays and confesses the sins of all the people.
10 The Jews covenant to put away their wives taken from the Canaanites and others - Ezra assembles the people at Jerusalem - The Levites who married non-Israelite women are listed.

His Spirit To Be With You
President Henry B. Eyring
"This time of year helps us remember the Savior's sacrifice and His rising from the tomb a resurrected being. Many of us hold images of those scenes in our memories. I once stood with my wife outside a tomb in Jerusalem. Many believe that it was the tomb from which the crucified Savior emerged as a resurrected and living God. The respectful guide that day motioned with his hand and said to us, 'Come, see an empty tomb.' We stooped to enter. We saw a stone bench against a wall. But into my mind came another picture, as real as what we saw that day. It was of Mary, who was left by the Apostles at the tomb. That is what the Spirit let me see and even her in my mind, as clearly as if I had been there."

We attended Ruthie's baptism this morning and Lanel's baby blessing. It has been a great week for this family! Talon and Trenda gave the talks on baptism and the Holy Ghost and did an awesome job. Trenda likened the Holy Ghost to a flashlight, and a comforter (blanket), and Ruthie got to keep both of those things. Brother Crane conducted the meeting and Brother Thompson gave the closing remarks. Bishop Miller is out of town. Before the closing prayer given by Ruthie's sister Alice, John blessed baby Lanel who had on the most beautiful blessing dress made by her grandma Ruth and Aunt Lannie.  Ruthie also had a beautiful baptismal dress made by them and another dress she was confirmed in.

Afterwards there was cake and ice cream to celebrate Ruthie's birthday. Brother Goodman and Sister Goodman, Ruthie's Primary teachers were both there. Brother Goodman played the piano. Brother Grapp was there with his four oldest children so Cammy could stay home with the baby and get some rest.

Lots of family there and some non-member friends that John invited. It was a wonderful experience for us. We love this family so much!

Ruthie, John, Lanel, and Sandra

It was neat that Talon could help confirm Ruthie and help bless the baby now that he has the Melchizedek priesthood.

After the program when everyone was either serving or eating cake and ice cream James went out to the car and brought in Ruthie's gifts and gave them to her.

Ruthie and her great big CTR cake

She really like the "pony"

This afternoon James went to the Howard's and to the dump. Thank goodness for the dump because our garage was being taken over by garbage.

We got a little, and I mean little bit of rain this afternoon. Most of the clouds just passed us by.

This evening the missionaries came by while I was giving James a haircut. He told them to come back in about a half an hour, which they did. We got to meet the new Elder, Elder Bingham from Coeur d'alene, Idaho. He seems very humble.

Elder Bernecker did most of the talking. First he went on and on about how much he loves our home and how he wants one just like it someday.

Before they left we talked about our family mission plan and then Elder Bernecker shared one of his favorite scriptures from the Book of Mormon, Alma 7:23. He has it memorized and says that someday he wants to frame it and hang it on his wall.

Alma 7:23
And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.

Afterwards Elder Bernecker told why this is his favorite scripture.
He seems to have a very strong testimony and I am sure he is a great missionary.  We really enjoyed their visit, they always bring a wonderful spirit into our home.

We reminded them that we are feeding them next Saturday and since we are working in the temple that day that it would probably be take out. Elder Bernecker said he would prefer Panda over pizza and that he likes orange chicken. Elder Bingham said he would eat whatever Elder Bernecker wants.

Finished the day with another Christmas movie and two new songs on my phone, "I Cross My Heart," by George Strait and "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran.

Elder Ronald A. Rasband
" The Lord loves to be with us. It is no coincidence that when you are feeling His Spirit and acting on first promptings that you feel Him as He promised: 'I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.'"

It is windy today. There is supposed to be rain on Wednesday. I hope that rain turns into snow.

James is having problems changing the brakes on his truck. I went out to push on the brake while he watched to see if it was working.

I did 20 minutes of exercise this morning while listening to the songs from "The Greatest Showman" soundtrack. I like all the songs, probably the first one is my least favorite but Rowan says it is his favorite.

I got a message from Vickie and Harold's grandson Jeffrey today about family history. It is nice to know that he is still working on it.

I went into town with James to have his brake roter turned only to find out he had to buy a new one for $100 which also included new brake pads. He says it would have cost him $350 if he wasn't doing it himself.

Next stop was Walmart for Gracie's birthday present and some more stuff for Valentines.

Today is Trina's 36th birthday. We wished her a happy birthday this morning but will also take her a card and gift on Thursday. I got her an $50 Amazon card.

Looks like Trina is a little disgusted waiting
for the subway in New York.

Addy posted the rest of the Trina pictures under
the caption: "To the Best Mom in the World."

One of my very favorite couples

I love this family and I love this photo!

The night they came to the cabin in
December they stopped here first. I am dying to go!

Trina says she doesn't like to run but
she does love the Turkey Trot.

As we leave Walmart we have salsa verde Doritos and Utah truffles for the ride home. We finished reading, "The Marshall Takes a Bride."

I take a nap when we get home and James finishes the brakes and walks over 18,000 steps.  I'm trying for 12,000.

We had a roast for dinner.

There is snow in Flagstaff where these two newlyweds live. I'm happy for them but I wish we had some here.

Met in February and married in July.

Stacy called and said her ward would like to come up in April with the young women so they can go to the Snowflake temple. There will be 20 young women and 4 leaders.

I actually finished January on my blog. Now I'm only 12 days behind.

For FHE we listened to Elder Haleck's talk "The Heart of the Widow" and then watched an episode of Heartland.
