The Atonement of Jesus Christ
Tad R. Callister
"The purpose of the Atonement of Jesus Christ is to make it possible for us to return to God's presence, become more like Him, and have a fulness of joy. This was done by overcoming four obstacles:
1. Physical death
2. Spiritual death caused by Adam and by our sins
3. Our afflictions and infirmities
4. Our weaknesses and imperfections"

"When we love the Lord, obedience ceases to be a burden. Obedience become a delight." - Joseph B. Wirthlin

We got more snow this morning as I was listening to Jim and Herman on the Book Profits webinar. They were very inspiring!

I drove in to town and picked up my friend Jean after her doctor's appointment at noon. Her husband Tom drove her there but he had an appointment and so I picked her up and we went to lunch at Native. It was packed and we were put in the bar. That was fine but we waited quite awhile to be served. We both ordered wings and a salad. I ordered three wings and Jean ordered five because she said Tom was coming too. Tom did come but didn't want the wings. He ordered something else and it took forever to come. I finished before Tom did and was going to pay for my order and then leave but Tom insisted he was paying for it. I am grateful for such nice friends. They are leaving tomorrow morning to drive to San Diego to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. I wished them a happy anniversary and a safe trip and left for home. I have the Grapp children coming at five and I wanted to get home to take a nap and do some walking before they come.

The Grapp's are going to the Show Low high school graduation which starts at six this evening. When the kids got here the first thing they did was go upstairs to get the Barbie's and bring them downstairs. Even Benson was playing Barbie's. He got tired of it after awhile and asked if he could watch a movie. He picked Big Hero 6. The girls watched it with him for awhile but then lost interest and went back to playing Barbie's.

After his movie I was sitting at the table eating a piece of toast and Benson asked me what I was eating, this kid asks more questions than any kid I've ever met. He's nine now but by the time he's grown he's going to be the best Trivial Pursuit partner. Anyway, I tell him I'm eating toast for dinner and then I ask him what he had for dinner. He said they didn't have dinner because their parents left so early. I suggested we make some macaroni and cheese. Tildy, the seven year old asks me if it's the macaroni and cheese in the box and I said yes. She says she doesn't like that kind. Can she have her noodles plain and put them in a skillet with some cheese and stir them around. Of course Tildy, anything to make you happy. The other kids are happy to eat the macaroni and cheese from a box with the powdered cheese, even though that's not the kind their mom fixes. I ask Tildy if she wants some butter and milk for her noodles and she says yes. She stirs everything with a wooden spoon, standing at the stove on a stool. I tell her she may be a chef someday and she says she's going to be an animal doctor.

After dinner is all over Tildy and Emsley go in to our bedroom to watch Thumbelina and Liana and Benson watch Moana in the family. room. Once I get the movies going i come in to fix popcorn. I don't have much popcorn and I burn the first bag. The next bag is good. Tildy has instructed me that she and Emsley each want their own bowl of popcorn and then they can share M&Ms. She also has a bowl of conversation hearts. This girl loves candy and sweets.

Once I get everyone their popcorn and M&M's I can sit down for a few minutes and take a break. The Grapp's come back about the same time Thumbelina is over so everyone comes in to watch the ending of Moana. Tildy and Emsley are both afraid of the "monster" in Moana.

Finally around 10 pm the movie is over and everyone goes home. James and I are pretty tired so we go directly to bed.

While I was taking care of kids James was making phone calls to ward members asking them if they would help clean the temple Saturday night.

Some sad news today. My friend in Chandler, Karen P. passes away.

All Must Take Upon Them the Name Given of the Father
Elder Paul B. Pieper
"One meaning of the word take is to partake of or receive into one's body, such as when we take a drink. By taking upon ourselves the name of Christ, we commit to take His teachings, His characteristics, and ultimately His love deep into our beings so that they become part of who we are. Thus the importance of President Russell M. Nelson's invitation to the young adults to 'prayerfully and vigorously seek to understand what each of the Savior's various titles and names means personally for them' and to feast on the words of Christ in the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon."

After gospel study I made breakfast for James and then we listened to the Book Profits help session. Lots of exciting things coming in the new year. If we sign up for the new year we get a $400 discount plus access to all the new materials for six months and during the beta testing. We prayed and thought about it and decided we have to give this business a chance for a least one more year and since we will be saving money and getting access to more software, we both thought we should sign up...the offer only stands today. I did it.

I took a trip in to town this afternoon. I took a blanket and my first stop was the hospital to visit Monte. He has diverticulitis. They were going to do surgery on him but they were able to drain the abscess instead. He still looked pretty miserable. Harold, Vickie, Tasha, and Kaitlynn were all in the room too.

After leaving the hospital I went across the street to Walmart to buy the ingredients for homemade vegetable soup. I am using the recipe they used to use at the Mesa temple. James and I both loved their soup.

I mailed Ben's birthday card today and stopped by the post office and picked up the mail. The "grabber" I got for James came, put the device to help him put on his socks.

When I got home our neighbors, the Crane's came over. They brought homemade chicken noodle soup and biscuits, and left over fajita meat and fixin's from the ward party. What nice neighbors we have!

This evening we worked on our book business. I inventoried 10 books. One of the books was one I had underlined with a pencil in. James erased all of the underling so we could send it in to sell.

One of my mains jobs while James is down is keeping the fire going. I guess I fell a little behind because James actually carried in some wood. I gave him a stern scolding!
