Ether 3:20
Wherefore, having this perfect knowledge of God, he could not be kept from within the veil; therefore he saw Jesus; and he did minister unto him.
Book of Mormon
3 Nephi 3:1-10
*Why is it so important to stand guard against the flatteries of men?
-So that we stay on the covenant path. We need to constantly repent and progress and flattery blinds us to our sins and areas we need to improve. Flattery causes us to be puffed up and vain.
Doctrine and Covenants Scripture Mastery
DC 58:42-43
42 Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more.
43 By this ye may know if a man repenteth of his sins - behold, he will confess them and forsake them.
General Conference

Repentance Is Always Positive
Stephen W. Owen
"Too often we think of repentance as something miserable and depressing. But God's plan is the plan of happiness, not the plan of misery! Repentance is uplifting and ennobling. It's sin that brings unhappiness."

 The Eternal Everyday
Elder Quentin L. Cook
"We are all equal before God. His doctrine is clear. In the Book of Mormon, we read, "All are alike unto God," including "black and white, bond and free, male and female." Accordingly, all are invited to come to the Lord."

I made blueberry muffins while Sheri was out running this morning. When she returned she made some bacon and eggs.

James left this morning with Chuck Crane with the Land Lease Agreement I typed. They are going to Cary Dobson's to get his signature and then on to the county offices in St. John's.

He got back just as Sheri, Ian, and the boys were leaving. We all said our goodbyes and of course took a picture.

Thanks for coming!

Goodbye Ollie!

After our company left we almost didn't know what to do with ourselves. We had a little lunch, leftover roast beef, mashed potatoes, corn, and rolls. Afterwards we took a nap. Sleeping and eating have always been my talents.

James needed to take a trip to town. I should have stayed home and got some things done, but I decided to go with him. He bought 20 bags of concrete at Home Depot. He was going to order concrete but instead of costing $220 they were going to charge him $500 for a shortload. This is, of course, for the patio he is building.

We went through Aliberto's drive thru and got a taco and an Arizona burro. I read from Petticoat Spy the way there and the way home. Hopefully they will be finished with the road construction by Maverick soon. It is getting on everyone's nerves!

James and Chuck were going to go to the school board meeting this evening which is always scheduled the second Tuesday of the month. Since they raised everyone's taxes they decided to meet the first week to avoid the protestors. At least that's what we think.

I blogged for the 3rd and 4th of October and then we watched a couple of episodes of Heartland, "Starstruck," and "Divorce Horse."

Thankfully Sheri and Ian made it home safely. I told Pam we would have to take a raincheck on dinner for Friday evening because Kim and Brian are coming up.

I wished I would have known!

So sad.

Somebody loves their goats.
Look at the heart on her forehead.

Mark and Lindsey

My favorite yogurt.

He really is Sheri's baby!

Addy loses at poker, again.

Rowan enjoying a smore.

These kids were awesome! All week long
and no fights that I was aware of.

Ruby is a poser.

Gathering pinecones to start fires with.

Evan's artwork.
He is so amazing!

Ruby's artwork.
She's pretty amazing too.

I got my windows washed for free!

Watch out for those blinds Ruby!

St. Paul, Minnesota
69th operating temple
Dedicated: 9 Jan. 2000

Jesus Christ, Appearances, Antemortal
2 Nephi 11:2
And now I, Nephi, write more of the words of Isaiah, for my soul delighteth in his words. For I will liken his words unto my people, and I will send them forth unto all my children, for he verily saw my Redeemer, even as I have seen him.
Helaman 15:7-16:18
*How can faith and repentance bring about a change of heart?
-President Ezra Taft Benson on following the words of the prophets:
"When the prophet points out the sins of the world, the worldly, rather than repent of their sins, either want to close the mouth of the prophet of else act as if the prophet didn't exist. Popularity is never a test of truth. Many a prophet has been killed or cast out. As we come closer to the Lord's second coming, you can expect that as the people of the world become more wicked, the prophet will be less popular with them" ("The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson [1988], 133).
*What messages from General Conference stood out to you?
- I liked Brother Stephen Owen's talk on "Repentance Is Always Positive." Another good one was Elder Cook's talk on humility.
DC 18:10
Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God;
General Conference
A Yearning for Home
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
"Turn your soul toward the light. Begin your own wonderful journey home. As you do so, your life will be better, happier, and more purposeful."

I am using the house as my racetrack to get my steps in. I love it because I can walk in my socks and no preparation is required.

Third day in a row

I made baked burrito casserole for lunch. Yummy! It tastes like a Taco Bell burrito supreme. I got the recipe from my friend Hailey.

James finished writing his talk for Sunday and now he's waiting for me to type it. It's 25 minutes long. He says that means I have 12 minutes. His talk is on parenting and mine is on my impressions of General Conference.

There is a full moon tonight so of course James went outside and bugled for elk. To his disappointment, there was no answer.

No time for TV or reading because of our talks.

James did have some time to work on the patio.
It is going to have a fire pit in it.

So are smores

I guess he ate too many smores

Back at home Evan tries out his
Halloween costume.

We took Evan and Joshua to Rowan's
wards Halloween party. This costume was no fun
when everyone else was jumping in the
bounce house.

This photo came up under October 5, 2015 but
I think it was taken a few years before.

I like these clouds
