"Light Cleaveth Unto Light"
Elder Timothy J. Dyches
Of the Seventy
As we intensify our faith in Christ, we receive light in intensifying measure until it dispels all darkness that might gather around us. "That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.
Ten Virtues
#3 Morality
Both experience and divine wisdom dictate that moral virtue and cleanliness pave the way that leads to strength of character, peace of mind and heart, and happiness in life.

"God Among Us"
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
John 6:28-71
D&C 104:15-18
I got up early so I could study Elder Uchtdorf's conference talk before church as that is what is being taught in Elder's Quorum/Relief Society. I also sent out a text and ask the rest of the presidency to read Elder Renlund's talk and President Nelson's and decide which one we should give on July 25th. We are scheduled for Elder Renlund's but since President Nelson is the Prophet and he issued a challenge to everyone in his talk, I had felt like maybe that's the talk we should focus on. I am waiting for Tamara's and Kerri's feedback. Tamara agrees with me so I am going to change from Elder Renlund's talk to President Nelson's and notify the Elder's Quorum.
The Skousen's were the speakers in sacrament meeting today. Pierce was the only member of the bishopric here today. Brother Thompson sat with him on the stand and Brother Wright was also on the stand.
Sister Skousen spoke on Elder Cook's talk in the October 2018 general conference, "deep and Lasting Conversion to the Lord Jesus Christ." The new two hour meeting block was being introduced and was to start in January 2019. The term home centered and Church supported gospel curriculum was also introduced. Elder Cook said the Sabbath will be a delight. The aim of all gospel learning is to deepen our conversion to Jesus Christ and to emulate Him. Valiant youth taught in the home. Sister Skousen shared some personal stories to illustrate this point.
Brother Skousen spoke on a talk from the October 2018 conference, "Gather Together in One All Things in Christ" by Elder David A. Bednar. Here are some notes I took: We live in a revelatory time. Strengthen faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement. Ministering in a higher and holier way. The gospel is a tapestry of truth, linked and woven together. Each of us must rely on the merits and grace of the Holy Messiah.
During the second hour Brother Patrick lead a discussion based on Elder Uchtdorf's talk, "God Among Us." Here is a brief outline of the talk: Is there any hope left in the world? When have times of bleakness left a mark on me? There are angels among us. Elder Uchtdorf thought the American missionaries who visited his country after the war were angels of light, glory, compassion, goodness and truth. What is my testimony of Jesus regarding salvation? What would Jesus do and teach if He was among us today? What did he teach in the Holy Land, the Book of Mormon, and during the Restoration? He taught timeless truths of hope and belonging. He would teach us to open our hearts to God and reach out to others. He would recognize and honor honesty, humility, integrity, faithfulness, compassion, and charity. One look into HIs eyes and we would never be the same. We would be forever changed. Keep searching with faith and patience. Ask, trust, knock, seek to follow Jesus Christ.
Pam brought us cookies again today. She delivered them after we got home from church and said she rang the doorbell but I never heard it so I missed seeing her. These were oatmeal with pecans. She also had some with dried apples and some with raisins. They were all delicious. I made another strawberry cream poke cake and James cut up a watermelon. We will serve cookies, cake and watermelon at our "Come Follow Me" get together this evening.
Aaron and his kids came by this afternoon. They came up to camp and didn't know all of the forests were closed. He asked if they could camp at our place. James said yes. They camped down on the other end of our property and at one point James said all three of the kids were up in the tree where Ian built the bench.
I spent some time indexing this afternoon. My goal was to reach 6,000 by the end of the month. I still have 578 more names to go. Mary Shannahan's residence is at "The Little Sisters of the Poor."
Sister Goodman asked if Sister Bartell could join us tonight. I said she could. There were seven of us because the Crane's are in the valley. We had the "Come Follow Me" lesson on D&C 67-70 and then we served refreshments on my new china. I was sad to find out that three of the smaller plates are cracked.
Paul posted on our family group that Fossil Creek is closed indefinitely because of fire damage.
