October General Conference
'Tested, Proved, and Polished'
President Henry B. Eyring
The greatest blessing that will come when we prove ourselves faithful to our covenants during our trials will be a change in our natures.
P1 S1
We solemnly proclaim that God loves His children in every nation of the world.
I worked this morning on President Eyring's Sunday talk. I took notes and recorded them in my conference notebook.
At 9 a.m. we attended church at the Vernon ward. Ginger was waiting for me in the north foyer just as we planned. I introduced Ginger to James and we walked into the chapel where Brother Peeler told us there were seats in the back. I asked if we could go up front and sit by the Halcomb's. He said yes so that's where we went. I introduced Kerri to Ginger as we sat down.
Bishop Hunsaker conducted the meeting and President Beeler was on the stand. Talon reported on his mission and then Bishop Hunsaker spoke for a few minutes. Talon began by talking about Jesus. "I would like to talk about Jesus Christ. He loved everyone. Jesus Christ affected me personally on my mission." In Alma 38:12 it says to use boldness but not overbearance. Alma tells his son to bridle all of his passions and to overcome the natural man and be filled with love. Talon bore testimony of the Savior and the influence the Savior has had in his life. He spoke about the importance of loving people and how the Bible and the Book of Mormon together will put down the contentions of the world. He said he never realized before how important ward members are in doing missionary work. He challenged us to read the Book of Mormon with someone who may be struggling or who needs help. Talon brought the Spirit to the meeting and you could feel the sincerity of his words.
Bishop Hunsaker spoke for a few minutes but I did not take good notes. I wrote down that he talked about tithing settlement and then asked us not to loiter in the building after the talks. As a result, as soon as the meeting was over I walked outside with Ginger and James. Ginger said her husband had waited in the truck for her. He drove her home and then he went to his own church. I forgot to give Ginger the "Come Follow Me" manual I brought so I texted her and got directions to her house. James drove me there and I gave her the manual along with a flyer about Halloween.
It was so windy and cold today. I do believe a storm is blowing in. It is supposed to rain or snow most of the night. An answer to our prayers for moisture.
James was very helpful today. He unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher and fixed me Pero, tea, and hot chocolate. We FaceTimed with Jared, Kacey, and Charlie. Of course Charlie had to see Luna. Charlie was in such a good mood and was fun to talk to today. Jared admitted to us that he did not vote for Trump but he also did not vote for Biden. He said he voted his conscious.
After FaceTime we had our Zoom family meeting. It was Jared, Kacey, Kim, Brian, and James and I talking about this week's "Come Follow Me" lesson 3 Nephi 27 - 4 Nephi 1. We had a great discussion! We do miss Sheri and Stacy though.
This evening we watched two new Christmas movies, "Christmas Tree Lane", and "Jingle Bell Bride."
I love the Sabbath day!
