In 1831, less than two years after the restored Church was organized, the Lord gave this revelation to guide its members and, I believe, all of His children worldwide:
"Behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant. . . .
"Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;
"For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward."

Alma 11:40
And he shall come into the world to redeem his people; and he shall take upon him the transgressions of those who believe on his name; and these are they that shall have eternal life, and salvation cometh to none else.
Up at five o'clock for prayers and gospel study. I thought about my testimony today and remembered that somewhere I had started a testimony journal a few years ago but had failed to keep it up. I looked for it and 2019 was the last time I wrote in it. I decided that every fast Sunday I would write in it and bear my testimony even if I didn't do it in fast & testimony meeting. Here is the testimony I wrote:
It was raining when we got up today and it rained most of the day, and later in the day we even got some snow.
Sheri, Ben, and Evan attended sacrament meeting with us. We sat back in the overflow behind Kathy Crane with her oxygen tank. I spoke with Camrie Griffin who is here visiting her family from Texas. She didn't have her twins with her. They are a year old and she doesn't want to take them out in the cold weather and risk them getting sick. Jordyn Applegate is here too and I gave her a hug. I asked her where Shelly was and she said she is home in bed. I told her that since it was New Year's day we could forgive her. Brother Thompson handed me a gift and Kerri gave me a card before the meeting started. Bishop is in the valley where one of his grandsons received the Aaronic priesthood today.
Pierce conducted the meeting and so he was the first to bear his testimony. He said that one of his goals is to show more gratitude in the New Year. Sue Hubble was next. She told about her daughter who has a terminal brain tumor and how she was getting worse and worse. Sue asked her ministering brothers if she could get a blessing. Ralph Sedig is one of her ministering brothers and he couldn't come because his father, Al, is in the hospital. Sean Hunsaker gave Sue a blessing. Sue bore her testimony that she believes in the power of prayer. She said after praying and after her blessing that her daughter began to get better and better.
Tamara Applegate was next. She began by talking about her favorite Christmas ornament which says, "Wiseman still seek Him." She talked about the importance of knowledge and wisdom and looking forward to studying the life of the Savior in the New Testament.
By this time my heart was beating fast and I knew I needed to go up so I was next.
James bore his testimony too.
Here is a list of all of those who bore their testimonies:
Pierce Goodman - Be thankful and express more gratitude
Sue Hubble - Power of prayer
Tamara Applegate - Seek wisdom
Karen Lambson - Covenants with the Lord
Chimi Tesarek
Charlotte South - Scriptures everyday
James Lambson - Resolutions have made me a better person
Owen Peeler - Mine is a life of miracles
Cope Reynolds - We love the service and friendship in this ward
Tina Allen - Home MTC is such a blessing
I was excited to see that Amber Judd was at church today. I have been praying for her. She has four sons who can pass the sacrament and we need more Aaronic priesthood young men. I didn't see Kevin so I wonder if he was there too.
Jimmie Applegate's Sunday School class was inspirational, as always. He double dawg dared us to study the gospel more this year than we did last year. I accepted his dare.
When we got back to the house Sheri had fixed breakfast and had made rolls. We were still fasting so we went into the bedroom, said a prayer and broke our fast. The first food I ate was one of the rolls that Sheri had made. I put butter and honey on it. Sheri had some pork carnitas meat. I put some on a tortilla along with the new brand of refried beans I bought and some cheese. It was delicious. James had some beans with cheese and Sheri's homemade salsa. He loves the beans. I also had some of Sheri's salsa on my burro. For dessert I had a little orange sherbet.
Evan ventured out into the snow. He wanted to take a ride on the Razr be realized it was probably too cold. He borrowed a pair of James's new gloves. Max and Ben watched football on the T.V. most of the day. Ian read upstairs. When he came down he had his pellet gun and I told him I needed to borrow it when the cows come to visit.
Sheri and I went into the bedroom and watched "We Need a Little Christmas." Kylee sent a doggie report. James did some indexing and I worked on my blog. I also looked at my new "Come Follow Me" study guides for 2023 and decided how I was going to use them.
I sent out a challenge to the adults in our family to read from the Book of Mormon everyday and to study the "Come Follow Me" lessons with their families. Next I am going to send out a challenge to all of my grandchildren.
Kerri Halcomb wants to take me to lunch this week. I told her I could go on Wednesday. She will pick me up around 11:00. She has something she wants to tell me.
This afternoon Sheri made cookies and carnitas. Max asked for a quesadilla with carnita meat inside. The meat was delicious and had a smoked flavor. She said she got it at Costco.
Sheri and I watched the Hallmark movie, "We Need a Little Christmas." I think Sheri liked it. It was one of my favorites.
James and I listened to a chapter of "The Undaunted" before going to bed.
