Jesus Christ, Son of man
Luke 6:5
And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Book of Mormon
Helaman 13:1-20

James was up before 4 this morning. We had family prayer together and he left somewhere between 4:30 and 5. He is meeting Darrel and Rowan over on the Rim where they are hunting. After leaving he got a message from Darrel saying they overslept and would be an hour late. Nice.

I was worried James was going to hunt with his broken ankle but all he did was take Rowan his shotgun to use and most of the cinnamon rolls that the Halcomb's brought over. He wasn't in any hurry to get there since he knew Darrel and Rowan were going to be late, so he went over on the Rim road and saw lots of wildlife, everything except turkey's. I'm glad he's not hunting because I do not want a wild, tough turkey to pluck and cook.

James called me between conference session and said he was in Show Low and would I order a couple of Chicken Slingers for him to pick up at Sonic. I did. He ate his on the way home and I ate mine when he got here. I figured he had missed the first session of conference but, he said when he turned on the radio in his truck that President Oaks was speaking and he was the first speaker. He talked about what a great session it was and I agreed. Elder Uchtdorf's talk and Sister Browning's talk were my favorites.

James was so tired, he laid down and took a nap until I turned the next session of conference on. The second session was good too. After the second session James cooked some frozen crab cakes that I got at Walmart. They were a big disappointment. They had cream cheese and jalapeno's and it was hard to taste the crab meat. I had one and that was it for me. We ended up throwing some of them away.

The evening session started at 5pm Arizona time. I think James fell asleep in this session because he said he was going to have to watch it again.

I got a text from my friend Pam after conference. Jenny and I have lunch plans for Tuesday at Bandidos @ 11. Please join us if you can. I miss you and would love to catch up. I answered back:
Thanks you Pam. I miss you too. I would absolutely love to have lunch with you and Jenny but I am taking an older sister (88), who is also a friend, to the temple that day. Pam texted back and said:  Ok, next time. I agreed.

James was napping in the bedroom so I went into the family room to get my steps. I turned on the newest GAC movie,  "Home for Harvest" and walked around one of the couches. I only got a little over 10,000 steps because my heel on my left foot was very sore and tender.

Before going to bed this evening James called Darrel to make sure they got home okay and to see if they saw or got any turkey. They did get home safely but they neither saw nor got any turkey. I am sure Trina is happy. We listened to a little bit of our new book by Sarah Eden, "The Bachelor and the Bride."

In the spirit of prayerful gratitude, I am pleased to announce our plans to build a new temple in each of the following locations:
Wellington, New Zealand; Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo; Barcelona, Spain; Birmingham, United Kingdom; Cusco, Peru; Maceio, Brazil; Santos, Brazil; San Luis Potosi, Mexico; Mexico City Benemerito, Mexico; Tampa, Florida; Knoxville, Tennessee; Cleveland, Ohio; Wichita, Kansas; Austin, Texas; Missoula, Montana; Montpelier, Idaho; and Modesto, California
These 17 temples will bless countless lives on both sides of the veil. I love you, my dear brothers and sisters. More important, the Lord loves you. He is your Savior and your Redeemer. He leads and guides HIs Church. May we be a people worthy of the Lord, who said, "Ye shall be my people, and I will be your God."
For this I pray in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Dawn got her birthday card yesterday and today is her birthday. She thanked me for the beautiful card. I asked her if her mom got her card and she said no, not yet. I told her I mailed them at the same time and we were both a little concerned. She said she would let me know when her mom got the card.

James was congested most of the night sleeping in the bed. Tonight he will probably sleep in the recliner.

James spent the morning at the computer working on documents, etc. for the Glendale Airport job. Tommy Woods, a subcontractor from Chandler whom James has worked with before and whose son went to school with Jared, submitted a bid. Carlos, the guy who is building the hangars had a big list of questions regarding this bed. Through these questions Tommy lowered his bid from $65,000 to $50,000.
Questions can be good.

Carlos thanked James for finding subcontractors and helping move the job forward. He told James that he had gone above and beyond what he had expected.

I made a trip to town to mail Scarlett's birthday card. I wanted to buy some stickers to put in the card and that is the reason I didn't mail it in Vernon.  I went about 12-15 miles when I realized that I had left Scarlett's card at home. I had to turn around and go home and get it. James was sad because I hadn't kissed him before leaving the first time but that was only because he was asleep. I remedied the situation and complied with his request. I had left the card in the bedroom and as soon as I retrieved it I was on my way once again.

I was lucky enough to get behind two campers and a dump truck on my way back to town. The traffic coming from the other direction was nonstop with no opportunity to pass. Our little parade of cars and trucks averaged about 50 mph into Show Low. Once we got into town the traffic wasn't any better. The traffic inside of Walmart was just as horrendous. I came up here to live to get rid of traffic and crowds but it seems the people are moving here to get out of the rat race and causing it to continue. I guess I am a part of it and must take responsibility.

As I was leaving Walmart I noticed the latest edition of the local paper, the White Mountain Independent. The story on the front page caught my eye: Show Low's Golden Year - Muhammed Ali
In 1976 Ali trained in Show Low and stayed at the Maxwell House and became a personal friend to my grandparents, Arlee & Verdie Maxwell. It was an exciting time for Show Low and for the Maxwell family. Dennis even had a picture taken with Ali holding his son Eric.

In the Independent article my Aunt Gene was interviewed. She said that Ali loved her parents, my grandparents, Arlee and Verdie Maxwell. Every morning Ali would give grandma a kiss. Grandpa took Ali on a sight-seeing tour all over the mountain. Grandma and Grandpa were at the fight were Muhammed Ali beat Kent Norton.
It was an unlikely triangle but the three of them loved and cared for each other for the time they knew each other.

Back to my shopping: I bought Scarlett's stickers and did some of my next week's shopping including buying a new mop bucket and mop. I was a little shocked by the total at the bottom of my receipt. While I was waiting in line I used my Sonic app to order a couple of drinks and chicken slinger sandwiches. They were not ready when I arrived. I had to wait for the chicken Slingers to come out of the fryer but it was worth it.
I put Scarlett's stickers into her card envelope and was going to go to the Show Low drive-thru post office to mail it but drove through and didn't stop. I wanted to make sure I had enough postage on the envelope so I mailed it in Vernon, and yes, it did have enough with the two stamps I had on it.

At home I carried everything in and put everything away and by this time I was ready for a break. James and I went into the bedroom and
watched  an episode of Matlock I had recorded because we have watched all of the episodes of McBride available on Dish-on-Demand. Matlock no way compares with McBride.

This evening Kerri and Catherine Halcomb dropped by with some cinnamon rolls for James. James isn't a huge fan of cinnamon rolls like I am but he was very gracious about accepting them. We had a nice visit with our friends before they left. No one had any of the cinnamon rolls tonight. James is going to take them to Rowan in the morning. He is meeting Rowan and Darrel on the Rim, the area they all got drawn for a turkey hunt. I took one roll out for myself for tomorrow morning. I called them our Conference Cinnamon Rolls.

Consecration is different from sacrifice in at least one important way. When we consecrate something, we don't leave it to be consumed upon the altar. Rather, we put it to use in the Lord's service. We dedicate it to Him and His holy purposes. We receive the talents that the Lord has given..........ore helpful in building the Lord's kingdom. Very few of us will ever be asked to sacrifice our lives for the Savior. But we are all invited to consecrate our lives to Him.

Up at 4:45, fix lunch for James, a peanut butter and jam sandwich, two hard boiled eggs, grapes, and a couple of slices of cheese. He also wanted a Slimfast shake so I put one in his bag.

He was up an hour early so we had time for scriptures and family prayer before he left. He is driving and I am nervous for that and his ability to work with a broken ankle. He does need to finish this job for the Peeler's and Greg doesn't know what to do by himself, so I understand why he went, but I don't have to like it.

Today is Kim and Brian's 27th anniversary. Here is something Brian wrote on Facebook:
I love these two, and Joe too!

This was my mantra today: Paint, Blog, Walk,...
I did wash the sheets on our bed and put them back on the bed all before James got home. I also called Dish because I can't watch the finale for season 8's "Kids Baking Championship." It keeps saying: This event has expired. I know it has not expired but I don't know what to do so I call Dish and talked to someone named John. He tried to help me and saw that my problem was not imagined, but real. He told me he would report it and I should receive an email tomorrow regarding the issue. I thanked him and hung up. We shall see.

When James gets home this evening he is exhausted and his left foot is very swollen. I suspect he may have overdone today. My heart goes out to him. While he is taking a shower I go in and fix some dinner. I made a salad and a pot of chili.

After dinner James works on his computer in the dining room. I go into the bedroom and work on my blog and my steps. James comes in about an hour later and asks if we can listen to our book. While we are listening he walks around the room and I ask him what he is doing? He says something about not having enough steps and I remind him that steps aren't important right now. His ankle healing is what's important. I get him to sit down after we finish our book, when I turn on McBride. It was a good one!

James decides to sleep in the bed tonight. This makes me happy but I am worried about him getting congested.
