Jesus Christ, Resurrection
2 Nephi 2:8
Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who layeth down his life according to the flesh, and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise.

"The Love of God"
Elder D. Todd Christofferson
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
I have long been impressed by, and have also felt, the yearning love of the prophets of God in their warnings against sin. They are not motivated by a desire to condemn. Their true desire mirrors the love of God; in fact, it is the love of God. They love those to whom they are sent, whoever they may be and whatever they may be like. Just as the Lord, His servants do not want anyone to suffer the pains of sin and poor choices.

We left for town at 10:15 for our 11:00 appointment to get our tires balanced and rotated. It was a clear, cold, sunshiny day. On the way in to town we saw a dead elk on the side of the road. Coming back from Walmart in Show Low we saw a dead deer by the side of the road. I'm wondering if it happened during yesterday's blizzard.

James and I took a walking tour of Walmart while waiting for our car and ended up spending $60.00. I spent $25 on small gifts for Trina, Stacy, and Sheri. I also got a cake carrier. James bought a pot for our window plant and some potting soil. It was all money well spent. I wanted to walk to Wendy's or Panda but James says it was too cold.

The car only cost us $5 because James had bought the warranty when he bought the tires. On the way out we went through the Wendy's drive-thru because I wanted a Frosty and some fries. I ordered a kids meal hamburger and James ordered a classic chicken sandwich. What a rip off. Our total was over $12.00. I guess Taco Bell is the only cheap food anymore. My Frosty was less than four ounces and the burger was like a slider with ketchup only. Oh, BTW, Wendy's claim that their fries are better than McDonald's is a fabricated lie.

We listened to Brother Halverson's Unshaken in the car and then I finished it when I got home while I was walking and working on indexing.

We stopped at the post office and our neighbor Chuck was there. He asked me how I was doing and I said I still have a cough. He said he may have to take Kathy, his wife, to Urgent Care. I asked what was wrong and he said she has been sick since she delivered dinner to the Scott's last week. The Scott's have influenza A. Poor Kathy, getting sick while doing a good deed.

When we get home it is rest time for me and computer time for James. He's trying to fill out the Arizona Game & Fish application for himself, Darrel, and Rowan to go hunting this fall. After gathering Rowan and Darrel's information he makes the comment that he and Rowan are exactly the same size and weight. I guess that's quite an accomplishment for a 74 year old man to be the same size as his 15 year old grandson. He can't make the application go through so he asks Darrel if he will do it. About this time I get up from my rest and go to my computer in the bedroom to work. James comes in and lies down on the bed for a nap. We need to get synchronized.

We started a new book by Josi Kilpack called: "Mayfield Family Vol. 4: Love and Lavendar." I vaguely remember the Mayfield family but I don't think it really matters.

The rest of the evening I indexed and walked and then watched a movie starring Paul Greene, "Christmas CEO." James and I rested on the couch before going to bed.

Today was my brother Harold's birthday. He is a year and a half younger than me which makes him 72. He is a good guy and I love him.

And it came to pass after my father had spoken these words he spake unto my brethren concerning the gospel which should be preached among the Jews, and also concerning the dwindling of the Jews in unbelief. "The Savior's Abiding Compassion"
Elder Ulisses Soares
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
My dear friends, as we intentionally strive to incorporate a compassionate attitude into our way of life, as exemplified by the Savior, we will become more sensitive to people's needs. With that increased sensitivity, feelings of genuine interest and love will permeate our every action. The Lord will recognize our efforts, and we will surely be blessed with opportunities to be instruments in HIs hands in softening hearts and in bringing relief to those whose "hands . . . hang down."

It was 4 degrees this morning. The sun is shining brightly so you think it is warm outside but it is not! I do love how the sun makes the snow glisten.

Last night while putting a log on the fire James dropped a log on his foot. At first he complained about his big toe hurting so badly, but after further examination it was obvious it dropped on most of his foot. He is miserable and can't wear his shoe on his left foot. He wrapped his foot and toes and when he went out to feed Luna and get some wood he wore a big boot. Although he thinks it's broken it did not stop him from getting his steps. He got 14, 739 steps as opposed to my 11, 280.

We finished our book, "The Noble Smuggler" and I must say we really enjoyed it. Today during Inklings Emily commented about how she loves to read proper romances. English gardens are always mentioned with someone casually strolling through them. From that she came up with her, "Garden Walk with God."

Today I didn't worry about not getting things done. I just tried to take it easy. I took two naps, one before lunch and one after with James's head lying in my lap. This evening while he indexed, I walked, blogged, and watched a 2019 Christmas movie, "Under the Stars" starring Autumn Reeser and Jesse Metcalf. BTW I did my indexing this morning.

We all occasionally get distracted from why we are here and divert our enegies somewhere else. One of Satan's most powerful weapons is to distract us with good and better causes which, in times of need, may blind and bind us away from the best cause - the very work that called us into this world.

4 Principles of Resilience
I. Search Inward
Ask: "What gifts, strengths, and talents has God blessed me with that I can draw on. "Counting our blessings is far better than recounting our problems." - President Nelson
II. Turn Outward
To reduce anxiety and stress, write in a journal, exercise, read scriptures and other uplifting books, talk with a family member, spend time with a pet.
What resources has God provided you to lighten your journey?
Notice the sufferings of others and give them a kind word.
III. Look Upward
Plead for peace and divine direction. Trust in the Lord's timing. Can you see how God is blessing you in your challenges?
IV. Press Forward
Press forward with faith and hope in Christ. When the world is dark, will we still seek the Light? The light of Jesus Christ. Faith means trusting God in good times and bad, even if that includes suffering until we see His arm revealed in our behalf.

I sent this information to my friend Ginger who is 55 years old and has suffered a stroke and now has Covid. I hope it helps her.

I was awake at 4 a.m. but it didn't last. I was tired all morning and kept taking little "breaks." I am tired of being sick. I tried to stay on task but it is hard to focus when you are miserable.

At 7 this morning it started snowing and it snowed all day. We ended up with around 4-5 inches on the flat, or on our picnic table outside.

We had planned on going to town this afternoon but I interrupted James from his indexing at 11:30 and suggested we go now because of the snow. I am glad we did. Even in icy conditions there are drivers on the road, specifically the 60 between Vernon and Show Low, who take unnecessary chances and pass in places they shouldn't, going way too fast. Such was the case today. At one point our windshield became totally covered with ice so I turned on the defroster so James could see to drive.

I did my shopping while James picked up my thyroid prescription and scheduled an appointment for us to get our tires rotated. I tried to wear the N95 mask Pam gave me while shopping but I couldn't breathe so I took it off the first five minutes.

One of the reasons I came shopping was to get the rest of the things I need to finish Stacy's almond cake, Trina's fudge chocolate cake, and Sheri's triple berry pie, all for their birthdays. When I was finished shopping James helped me checkout and I asked him if we could go to Wendy's for a Frosty. He said, "Will I don't want one but if you do I guess we can." Typical answer.

I guess James was hungry for chinese food because he got in the non-existent line at Panda. I've never been here when they didn't have a line. Maybe it has something to do with their cash only policy until they get their new credit card machine. I had cash. James got a chow mein pepper steak bowl and I got a chow mein orange chicken bowl and then we got in the Wendy's drive thur line. James ordered me a large Frosty and when we got to the window the girl handed it to him and said, "free of charge." We had just been complaining about it costing $3.49.

There was a car not moving at the head of the intersection by the hospital and Walmart so James turned around and took the road just passed the stalled car. We drove down the hill to Tractor Supply where James got two bags of horse feed for $40. The groceries were in the back along with Tanna's still unclaimed birthday gift so he had to put the feed in the back seat.

The snow plow has not yet cleared the snow off the highway yet so it was slow going on the way home. There was an accident just passed the Y by Dollar General so we went up the 61 to the 3148 cut across, along with several other cars. I am so glad James is driving because I do not like driving in these conditions. He got us home safely after stopping at the post office where he picked up my cake supplies and his new cover for his phone. It's sleek and gray and I like it and so does he.

Once we got home I went in to change into my comfy clothes and when I returned to the kitchen James had everything put away. Thanks honey! He finished his Panda bowl while I finished off my orange chicken and put the noodles in the frig for later.

I was exhausted after our little outing so I went to the recliner and took a nap. It was a long one and was almost six o'clock when I got up. Time for my noodles, some walking, and listening to our book, "The Noble Smuggler." We love this book better than any we have read for quite some time. We are almost finished with it and will be hard pressed to find another one as good. I am having a hard time getting into my book, "Mrs Whitaker Opens Her Heart", but I am trying.

I blogged, walked until I got 10,000 steps, which was difficult, and watched a Christmas movie starring Lacey Chabert in Ireland where she is planning a party for a castle. A good one. I like Lacey.

James and I both attempted to sleep on the recliners in the family room again but it was around 2 o'clock before I finally fell asleep.

"Pure Truth, Pure Doctrine, And Pure Revelation"
President Russell M. Nelson
President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
The pure doctrine of Christ is powerful. It changes the life of everyone who understands it and seeks to implement it in his or her life. The doctrine of Christ helps us find and stay on the covenant path. Staying on that narrow but well-defined path will ultimately qualify us to receive all that God has. Nothing could be worth more than all our Father has!

"The Greatest Possession"
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
"There were no robbers, nor murderers, neither were there Lamanites, nor any manner of -ites; but they were in one, the children of Christ, and heirs to the kingdom of God. And how blessed were they!"
What is the key to this breakthrough in contented, happy living? It is embedded there in the text in one sentence: "The love of God . . . did dwell in the hearts of the people." When the love of God sets the tone for our own lives, for our relationships to each other and ultimately our feeling for all humankind, then old distinctions, limiting labels, and artificial divisions begin to pass away, and peace increases.

I got up at 3:47 and came into the bedroom to pay my credit card.  The credit card is paid off. Now we need to pay our propane bill using the credit card. It is hard to catchup when the bills keep coming.

I am worried about my friend Ginger who moved to Alpine. She had a stroke and also has Covid. She is only 55 and now she says they think she needs a pacemaker. She wants me to send her uplifting scriptures and quotes which I have been trying to do along with praying for her and putting her name on the temple prayer roll.

James's back is really hurting so he didn't go with the other old guys to work at the Bowen's. He has been trying to schedule rebar and concrete for the hangar jobs but has been running in to all kinds of problems.

Everytime I think I've got all the gunk off the kitchen floor I find some more. I think it grows. I went over the floor with a mop with water and vinegar. I'm done for today.

I was going to make chili this morning for lunch but I just really wasn't feeling it. James said he would make lunch. He took the ground beef and made us a couple of burgers. They were delicious.
Thanks honey! I get so excited when someone else does the cooking.

After lunch James and I took a nap together on the couch. It was nice. Afterwards we walked and read from "The Noble Smuggler."
I also read from my other book about a guy who is sent to New South Wales to serve a prison sentence and ends up being a sheep farmer. New South Wales is Africa. They have bats the size of ravens and they kill them with boomerangs.

I took a bite of a baby cake after lunch and nearly choked to death. It was pretty serious for awhile but I survived. James was upstairs and had not a clue.

While I was indexing this evening James brought me dinner. Shrimp and veggies. Thanks honey! He also slept with me on the recliner. I really couldn't ask for a better partner!

We watched a GAC movie, "The Christmas Swith" and I had forgotten how funny it was. We both got a kick out of it. Sarah Lind plays both Kaelynn and her twin sister Sophia.

The voices and pressures of the world are engaging and numerous. But too many voices are deceptive, seductive, and can pull us off the covenant path. To avoid the inevitable heartbreak that follows, I plead with you today to counter the lure of the world by making time for the Lord in your life - each and every day.

James left this morning to help at the Bowen's again. Others who went: Pierce, Owen, Chuck, and a new member, Chris Pronger.

I feel better today but I'm still not 100%. I fixed a frozen pizza for lunch and finished off the salad James made yesterday. I watched the end of a movie I had started earlier. I am trying to get all of my Christmas movies off my DVR and I am watching most of them again.

I paid Rocket Mortgage and prepared to pay my credit card but instead of paying the card, I caught up my blog and walked 11,000 steps.

James got home in the late afternoon and was exhausted. We read a chapter of our book, "The Noble Smuggler" while we walked and then he laid down for awhile. I fixed him a pot pie for dinner. He had pizza for lunch and did not want any of the leftover pizza I had because it really doesn't agree with him.

I listened to "Don't Miss This" as part of my "Come Follow Me" study. James did some indexing.

When I asked James where he was going to sleep tonight he said, "Wherever you are." I like that. We both slept on the recliners in the family room.
