President Russell M. Nelson
President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
The General Authorities and General Officers of the Church who speak will focus their messages on our Savior, Jesus Christ, His mercy, and His infinite redeeming power. There has never been a time in the history of the world when knowledge of our Savior is more personally vital and relevant to every human soul. Imagine how quickly the devastating conflicts throughout the world - and those in our individual lives - would be resolved if we all chose to follow Jesus Christ and heed His teachings.

"The Greatest Possession"
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
The scriptures speak of a rich young ruler who ran to Jesus, knelt at HIs feet, and, with genuine sincerity, asked the Master, "What shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?" After reviewing a long list of commandments this fellow had faithfully kept, Jesus told the man to sell all his belongings, give the proceeds to the poor, take up his cross, and follow Him. The boldness of this directive caused the young ruler - in spite of his expensive sandals - to get cold feet, and he went away sorrowing because, the scriptures says, "he had great possessions."
Obviously, this is an important cautionary tale about the uses of wealth and the needs of the poor. But ultimately it is a story about wholehearted, unreserved devotion to divine responsibility. With or without riches, each of us is to come to Christ with the same uncompromised commitment to His gospel that was expected of this young man. In the vernacular of today's youth, we are to declare ourselves "all in."

We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

Happy 94th Birthday Lois! Sheri called this afternoon. She talked to her gramma on the phone. She says Gramma is worried about us. She never sees us. It's true. We haven't been there since we got Covid. I told Sheri that when I talked to Dawn on her birthday I wanted to tell her we would be down on Monday and would come and see them, but Dad told me to wait in case we didn't make it. When Sheri called I was in the car waiting for James to go to town. When James came out and we finally left I got Lois on the phone via bluetooth so we could talk to her while we were driving. We told her we were fine and that while James was working down there on Monday I would come over to see her and Dawn. She's worried that James hasn't started his cancer treatments yet. She told us that her brothers Henry and Lincoln and Uncle Leon had all died of prostate cancer. My friend Pam who works at the hospital and does hiring said Friday she secured a contract for a radiation therapist. She wanted to wait until Monday because she needed the weekend to decide. Pam is praying that she accepts the offer. Pam said hopefully they can open additional appointments at the cancer center and that this had been an incredibly hard position to fill. She said she would also call and tell them she has a friend who needs an appointment. She's not sure it will help, but she's going to give it a try. We told all of this to Lois. We also told her that originally they said he would have to have 8 weeks of treatments five days a week and now they are saying 4 days a week for 4 weeks. I told her I would like to come and see her on Monday and she said that would be fine.

Pam not only is helping us at the hospital but she brought us some of her delicious oatmeal cookies. Honestly, I have never tasted a better oatmeal cookie. She uses pudding in the mix.

When we got to town James dropped me off at Walmart while he went to Home Depot and Lowe's to look for a new faucet for the kitchen. Before leaving town to go home we stopped at Panda and each got a chow mien bowl. I got mine with broccoli and steak.

Before the evening session of conference James started putting in the faucet. What should have been a quick and easy job turned out to be quite complicated. The faucet wouldn't fit the way it's supposed to with the existing holes cut in the granite. After doing some remodeling James finally got it in only to find out that the kit did not come with any supply lines. You'd think when you pay $150 for a faucet it would have supply lines. He can't use the ones from the old faucet. Since this is a bit of an emergency, he will have to go to Home Deport early in the morning. We watched one half of the evening session of conference before going to bed.

I read an article on Meridian Magazine called "Covid-19 Vaccination as an Abrahamic Test" by Jacob Z. Hess.
Regarding President Nelson's statements on masks and vaccinations:
...the word urge feels like a warning: Is the Prophet trying to warn us of something that is coming? This article was really good. James and I plan on getting our vaccine but I'm not sure how long we have to wait after having Covid. I think I will ask my friend Pam.

The best oatmeal cookies I've ever tasted!

We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

The first thing James saw when he looked out the window this morning was a bull elk standing out in our field. He started calling to him and Mr. Bull answered. James got ready and took the camera and went out looking for elk. He came back about an hour or so later with several pictures. Not only did he see Mr. Big Bull but he also saw a satellite bull with a branch stuck in his antlers.

We got a message that Chris Bowen passed away yesterday. The
Bowen family has suffered so much recently.

I took a shower this morning. Such a simple thing you take for granted until you can't take one like I haven't be able to the past couple of days. Thanks honey for fixing the gas line.

James is experiencing a lot of pain in his hip. He thinks it is the pill he is taking before his radiation treatment. He was laying on the bed and I was sitting at my desk in the bedroom. He asked me if he could use my Tenzi vibrating machine. I proceeded to go through the drawers here in my desk. I immediately found the pads that go on the machine, but no machine. I spent over an hour looking for this little machine and was not successful. I was appalled at the amount of "stuff" I got out of these drawers. Two boxes full of stuff to go through to determine give away or put away, somewhere else!
I will keep looking for this machine. In the meantime James is laying on a heating pad.

I talked to Trina today. They are in Hawaii having a great time. This is a picture of a family hike. I asked where Lola was and she said at the beach house playing with some other children.

Hawaii does a number on your hair

Darrel says it's spelunking.
Lola has been replaced by someone.

Trina said they are really enjoying themselves. They have seen lots of waterfalls!

James tried to blow air through the kitchen faucet to clean it out, hoping that would help with the water pressure. He got lots of "gunk" out of it, probably calcium deposits, but it did not help with the pressure. He actually broke a cartridge and now we will probably have to get a new faucet. He ordered a part for the bathroom faucet but it won't be here until October 12th.

I was reading about the winners of The Great British Baking Show. Nadiya, Sheri's favorite, has been very successful. She was asked to bake the birthday cake for Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday. Here is a picture of Nadiya.

I need a picture of Queen Elizabeth's

"The Principles Of My Gospel"
Elder David A. Bednar
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
With all the energy of my soul, I invite all of us to learn, live, and love principles of righteousness. Only gospel truths can enable us to "cheerfully do all things that lie in our power" to press forward on the covenant path and to "see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed."
I know that the doctrine and principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ are the foundational sources of direction for our lives and of enduring joy in mortality and eternity.

"Covid-19 And Temples"
President Russell M. Nelson
President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
As I announce our plans to construct 20 more temples, I ponder and praise pioneers - past and present - whose consecrated lives have helped to make this history today. A new temple will be built in each of the following locations: Oslo, Norway; Brussels, Belgium; Vienna, Austria; Kumasi, Ghana: Beira, Mozambique; Cape Town, South Africa; Singapore, Republic of Singapore; Belo Horizonte, Brazil; Cali, Colombia; Queretaro, Mexico; Torreon, Mexico; Helena, Montana; Casper, Wyoming; Grand Junction, Colorado; Farmington, New Mexico; Burley, Idaho; Eugene, Oregon; Elko, Nevada; Yorba Linda, California; and Smithfield, Utah.
Temples are a vital part of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness. Ordinances of the temple fill our lives with power and strength available in no other way. We thank God for those blessings.

The Articles of Faith

We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

It's misty and wet when I look out the bedroom window first thing this morning. For breakfast I have 1/2 of the extra green burro that is left. James eats the other half. I love D&C 109 and 110, our "Come Follow Me" lesson this week. The prayer that Brother Joseph offered for the dedication of the Kirtland temple was amazing, and then in 110 the appearance of the Savior and then Moses, Elias, and Elijah. It doesn't get much better than this. As we were reading the promises that Joseph requested in 109 I felt the Spirit so strongly. One of my very favorite sections of the D&C. I loved listening to Hank Smith, John Bytheway, and Brent Rogers on "Follow Him."

Every day when I work on my blog I download pictures I have taken and screenshots onto my computer. Today I decided to back them up onto a USB port. When I was finished only 80 photos were transferred. I knew I had more than that so I did some investigating. I noticed that the pictures I took myself were all transferred but screenshots were not, which means most of my pictures of Charlie and Scarlett. I did some research and figured out how to change my settings to include the PNG photos which were most of the screenshots. This time I got over 3,000 photos transferred. That's more like it! One thing I forgot to mention is that as I transfer the photos from my phone to the computer I erase them from the phone. I don't want to end up with 47,000 photos own my phone when I'm ready to get a new one.

While I was going through a box I had in the closet I find an
that my cousin Carol Seay had sent me. In the envelope were lots of old photos, many of them photos of my mom as a young girl. They are a treasure and I'm going to put them in the album I made of her after her death.

We had more veggie soup for lunch today. After lunch James went to town to get fittings to fix the gas line. When he gets back he determines that the fitting doesn't fit and he has to go back to town. After he leaves I wish I had gone with him.

I paid my Amazon Store card but not before cancelling Acorn TV and Brit Box, not sure how those came to pass, and then I cancelled the card itself after paying it off.  I'm trying to simplify.

I tried to call a sister I am supposed to minister to but no answer and she does not have voice mail set up. She works at the pet store in Show Low and I guess I'm going to need to visit her there. Her 70th birthday is coming up on October 9th and I want to make her a cake.

James was successful in getting the gas line fixed so now we have hot water. Yay! He tries to blow out the kitchen faucet line with the compressor but it does not help with the pressure.

I called Dawn to wish her a happy birthday. She and Lois, I can tell, are worried about James. I told her that he will not have to have as many treatments as we originally thought which helped her to feel better.

Before going to bed this evening James went outside and blew his elk call. He said he had elk answer from three different directions.
