'Enduring Power'
Elder Kelly R. Johnson
Of the Seventy
I have learned that having the word of God deep in my soul, coupled with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Atonement, allows me to draw upon the power of God to overcome the adversary and anything he may throw at me. As we face challenges, we can rely upon the promise of the Lord taught by Paul:
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

Others came as well, including Elijah, who restored the authority to join families together forever in eternal relationships that transcend death.

Tom Howard is in the ICU at the Show Low hospital and has been there since Wednesday. He called James Thursday to see if he could help feed the horses and James told him we were out of town. James also talked to him on Friday but he said Tom sounded terrible. He has COPD and his oxygen levels have been extremely low. Alicia and Hailey Hunsaker are staying with Jean. I talked to Jean this morning and told her I would bring her some soup for dinner.

I made chicken and rice soup, rolls, and cupcakes with homemade chocolate frosting. I also made lemon bars but they got a little too done so James and I had to eat them. They were yummy!

I also worked on my blog and walked while watching TV. James took me this evening to deliver the food to Jean. I gave Jean a hug. We came home and while James was indexing, I watched the new Hallmark movie, "Snowkissed" starring Jen Lilley and Chris McNally.

Dallin posted a song on the Lambson family sight. It's a Simon & Garfunkel song. He said he loved listening to their music when riding with grandpa back and forth from Chandler to the cabin. Of course Dallin remembers the cabin in Pinedale as well as the one in Vernon. It was a nice tribute to his grandpa. Thank you Dallin. You have a beautiful singing voice!

I love pictures of beautiful cakes!

'Do Justly, Love Mercy, And Walk Humbly with God'
Elder Dale G. Renlund
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
A broken heart and contrite spirit prompt us to joyfully repent and try to become more like our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. As we do so, we receive the Savior's cleansing, healing, and strengthening power. We not only do justly and walk humbly with God; we also learn to love mercy the way that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ do.
To love mercy as God does is inseparably connected to dealing justly with others and not mistreating them.

Restoration Proclamation
P4 S3
Three of the original twelve Apostles - Peter, James, and John - restored the apostleship and keys of priesthood authority.

Around 6 this morning there was a knock on the bedroom door. It was Darrel. Rowan had forgotten to get his clothes out last night so he needed to come in. Of course. Trina is at work this morning so Darrel is in charge of the kids. He did Lola's hair in a ponytail which didn't look too bad. When I mentioned it to Lola she said, "Yeah, but he can't do braids."

I had some breakfast so I could take my pills. I got to see Addy for about five minutes before we left. She didn't know we were leaving so soon. Rowan decided to stay home from school because he wasn't feeling well. Darrel said he must really be sick because he won't get to go out with friends tonight if he doesn't go to school.

I took this picture of Ruby this morning. She had on Trina's sweatshirt and earrings.

I sure do love this sweet girl!

When we left Darrel's we headed for 108th Way in Chandler to pick up $200 from Sal. James was supposed to see Zaki about doing some work for him but Zaki never answered his phone or door. We stopped and talked to Cathi and Terry on the way out. James had some antlers to give to Terry. James told them about Pierce's heroics. He also told Darrel before we left his house so now he has told the story three times. Pierce is famous and he doesn't even know it.

We drove to north Mesa so James could go shopping at Bass Pro Shop in Riverview Plaza. I dropped him off and drove a couple of miles over to Tempe Marketplace to shop at the Target there. I would have gone to the Walmart just behind Bass Pro but it was all roped off with yellow caution tape so I figured it wasn't open.

At Target I bought about a dozen frozen lean cuisine type meals to take home to eat for lunches. I also bought an eyebrow pencil, some pens and a small purple notebook, the kind I use for my monthly notes and journal.

I got a large pink drink at the Starbucks inside Target and asked what was in the drink: coconut milk, acai strawberry and green tea coffee extract. I guess that will be my last one because those last two ingredients sound totally illegal.

One the way back to Bass Pro I passed the Cub's spring training stadium and right next to the hotel next to the stadium is Riverview Park with a big pond and lots of walking paths. I stopped to walk. I made one circle around the pond before James called for me to pick him up.

Next time I'm going to Swig for
their pink drink
It looks so sweet and innocent

James was disappointed when I picked him up. He wanted to buy some ammo and the shelves were bare and have been that way since Biden was elected. He should have gotten some the last time he was here. We had lunch at Chili's close to Bass Pro. I had my favorite salad for lunch and James had triple fajitas.

Caribbean salad with grilled shrimp. Those yellow
pieces of fruit are fresh pineapple. The dressing
is so delicious!

James called Kim while we were waiting for our food and thanked her for the birthday card and gift card. They had a nice chat. Stacy called me but when she found out we were at lunch she excused herself.

We ended up going home the Payson way because we were so close to Highway 87. We stopped at the Basha's in Payson to get some stevia. We stopped at the post office and then went home. After unloading the car James drove my car in to the garage where it will stay until some of the snow melts.

'Ask, Seek, and Knock'
Milton Camargo
First Counselor in the Sunday School General Presidency
When the Savior visited the Americas after His Resurrection, He repeated an invitation that He had given to His disciples in Galilee. He said:
"Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
For everyone that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened" (3 Nephi 14:7-8; see also Matthew 7:7-8).
Our prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, has given a similar invitation in our day. He said: "Pray in the name of Jesus Christ about your concerns, your fears, your weaknesses - yes, the very longings of your heart. And then listen! Write the thoughts that come to your mind. Record your feelings and follow through with actions that you are prompted to take. As you repeat this process day after day, month after month, year after year, you will 'grow into the principle of revelation.'"
President Nelson added, "In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost."

Restoration Proclamation
P4 S2
The resurrected John the Baptist restored the authority to baptize by immersion for the remission of sins.

I love this scripture from this week's lesson:
DC 6:36
"Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not;

We left for the valley at 6:22 this morning. I talked James into going through Payson. We stopped at Burger King for breakfast. I had a bacon croissant and James had a croissant with bacon, sausage and ham. Mine was better. When we got to the valley we went straight to Alex and Shayna's. Alex was there with their three dogs, Sly, Molly, and Zeno. The barking was very loud.

James is there to enlarge the doggie door in the wall. The door is fine for the smaller dogs but it's a tight fit for Zeno. James had to use a saw which was quite loud. I came in and the dogs were all settled down. I just ignored them and Zeno looked at me as if he wanted some attention but I just walked in and out.

1867 W. Highland is Alex and Shayna's address. It is off Dobson just south of Warner. There is a Walgreen's on Dobson and Warner that I wanted to walk to. I got about half way there when I realized I had forgotten to bring a mask. I had to go back and get one. More steps.
When I got to Walgreen's I bought a drink and some dark chocolate for James and peanut butter cups for me. The woman who checked me out looked very familiar, I thought she was Janet Burchfield, someone in Sheri's ward who used to be in our ward, but I wasn't sure it was her. I mentioned it to Alex when I got back to the house and he said, yes it was her. I should have said hi I guess.

Alex and I talked a little about Tom Brady making it to the Superbowl again, only this time as a Buccaneer. The Chiefs are the other team and they are the defending champions. Of course Alex will be cheering for Tom Brady and Evan will be cheering for the Chiefs.

At 11:20 we left Alex's and headed for Gilbert to where the Konkle's are building their 8,600 square foot home. It is located in a private subdivision with 7 other homes, just across the street from Perry High School. The address is 2057 E. Mai Lane. Jenny Konkle is married to Mason. Jenny is Greg and Florence Hatch's daughter and that is probably why James has been asked to do the outside concrete work.

I waited in James's truck while he went in to meet with Armando, Mason, and the contractor, McKay Larsen. The house is not finished but James said the inside is nearly finished and is beautiful. Next time I need to go in and look around. Here is a picture of the outside of the home.
This picture doesn't show how big the
home really is.

After finishing up at the Konkle's we went back to Chandler to get James's new glasses and to see Sheri at Chandler Eyecare. Sheri ordered James new glass frames with his new prescription in them. At first they seemed a little blurry to him but Sheri and I both assured James that the longer he wore them the better they would get. Sheri also told him to wait and wear them tomorrow when he first gets up before putting on any other glasses.

Sheri took us to lunch at Olive Garden. When we were walking to her car she showed us where Michael works, which is very close to Chandler Eyecare. She said his car wasn't outside today so he must not be at work.

Sheri and I both ordered soup, salad and breadsticks for lunch. We both ordered the chicken gnocchi soup. James ordered a healthy chicken dish with a side of broccoli. No dessert today. We enjoyed visiting with Sheri but we couldn't stay long because she had to get back to work. We did talk about Ben and her concerns for him. She wants him to either get a job or register for school but he doesn't seem motivated to do either one right now.

We said our goodbye's to Sheri and then we went back to Alex and Shayna's so James could finish up his project. Shayna was at home this time. I dropped James off and then I went to Target to spend my $50 gift card I got for Christmas from Darrel and Trina.

I bought a nice pair of black pants, and some items to use for giving myself a manicure with a pink zippered container that I really liked. I also bought myself some protein shakes, yogurt and bananas.  On the way out I got a "pink" drink at Starbucks. I learned about these from Trina. I got a small and it was $4.38. When I told Trina she said I should have gotten the large because it is only $5 something.

James called just as I was finishing up. Perfect timing. Shayna loaned me a spoon for my yogurt. Zeno was actually happy to see me and let me pet him. I guess he feels more comfortable in his own home than he did at the cabin. James didn't quite finish the doggie door, he needs a couple of more things from Home Depot, but it was finished enough for Zeno to try it. It is plenty big for him!

Our next visit was with Lois and Dawn in Tempe. Of course they had gifts for his birthday which he opened and thanked them for. Both Lois and Dawn have had the first vaccine but can't seem to get an appointment for the second. Lois told about ordering a wig that was supposed to be made out of human hair but when she took it to the hair salon to be styled they said they couldn't do anything with it and it was not human hair! Paypal gave them their money back.
Dawn gave me the Zoom connection for their card making session tomorrow. Connie and Carmen also join in via Zoom with Dawn, Lois, Rebecca, Cathi, and Laura. Sounds like fun but I think we will be on the road and I probably won't be able to get a good connection. They do this about once a month so maybe next month.
James told his mom and Dawn all about Pierce and his equipment and how he got the truck out of the mud.

On the way out to Darrel and Trina's we stopped at a Whataburger for dinner. I got a junior and James got a regular Whataburger. Neither one of us had any cheese on our burgers to save a few calories.

Darrel and Addy were at work and Trina and the other kids were having dinner. Addy got a job at a place in Dana Point that sells chocolate desserts called, "Creme and Chocolat.". The people who own the place are friends of Darrel and Trina's. Addy is becoming an independent girl with her own car and job.

I played a couple of games with Lola and Trina. It's the game Lola got at our family Christmas party, I can't remember the name of it. Rowan had a cross country meet today in which he placed second. Last week he got first and one of his friends got second. The friend wasn't too happy that Rowan had beat him last week. This week the friend got first. I asked Rowan, "So, how did he feel that you let him win this week?" Rowan just smiled.  Trina was upset because the AIA made the runners wear masks. She sent an email asking where they got their information as to how masks help runners who are outside and 6 ft apart. You cannot breathe as well with a mask on.

I got a call from Stacy this evening about her new eyebrows. Here is a picture. They normally cost $800 and last about a year. This girl is new here from Manhattan and looking for clients. She wanted to do Stacy for "practice" and didn't charge her anything. Stacy ended up paying her $60 as a tip.

After:

The best thing that happened today, for me anyway, was Ruby coming up and asking me about what my name was before I married grandpa. When I told her my last name was Maxwell she wanted to know where the Maxwell's were from. She also asked where the Lambson's were from. I helped her get registered on Family Search and we filled in all of her siblings with their birthdays'. I showed her how to do a pedigree chart. We looked up the history of some names. She saw names her Grandpa Case had put in and she wanted to know about them. Trina told her a story about her grandpa Case, Ruby's great grandpa. It was so fun talking to her about family because she was so interested! We did this for about two hours. Next time I think I am going to teach her how to do indexing.

We slept in Rowan's room.
