Jordan River temple,
20th operating temple
(Now being renovated)

Mosiah 9:14-10:22
The Lamanites attempt to bring Zeniff's people into bondage.
* What similarities and differences do you see between how Zeniff's people and the Lamanites approached their battles?
* What truths can we learn from this comparison?
* Why did the Lamanites hate the Nephites so intensely?
* Whom does it hurt when we are angry or refuse to forgive?
* How can a person's anger affect his or her family, now and in the future?
Elder Donald L. Hallstrom of the Seventy said: "If you feel you have been wronger - by anyone (a family member, a friend, another member of the Church, a Church leader, a business associate) or by anything (the death of a loved one, health problems, a financial reversal, abuse, addictions) - deal with the matter directly and with all the strength you have...And, without delay, turn to the Lord.  Exercise all of the faith you have in Him.  Let Him share your burden.  Allow His grace to lighten your load... Never let an earthly circumstance disable you spiritually" ("turn to the Lord," Ensign, May 2010, 80).
Helaman 15-16
15 The Lord chastened the Nephites because He loved them - Converted Lamanites are firm and steadfast in the faith - The Lord will be merciful unto the Lamanites in the latter days. About 6 B.C.
16 The Nephites who believe Samuel are baptized by Nephi - Samuel cannot be slain with the arrows and stones of the unrepentant Nephites - Some harden their hearts, and others see angels - The unbelievers say it is not reasonable to believe in Christ and His coming in Jerusalem. About 6-1 B.C.
DC 58:34-43
To repent, men must confess and forsake their sins;
* What verse stood out to me today?
- 42 Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more.
- 43 By this ye may know if a man repenteth of his sins - behold, he will confess them and forsake them.

Called to the Work
Elder David A. Bednar
"An assignment to labor in a specific place is essential and important but secondary to a call to the work."

Prepare the Way
Bishop Gerald Causse
"Even though they are vested with different missions and
authority, the Aaronic Priesthood and the
Melchizedek Priesthood are inseparable partners
in the work of salvation."

James left to go on a Razr ride this morning at 7:15.  I encouraged him to go and to have a little fun thinking he would be back in an hour or so.  I soon realized that he broke two of our rules.  First, he did not take his phone, and second, he left in such a hurry that he failed to tell me where he was going.  When he wasn't back by 9 a.m. I said a prayer and decided I needed to go out looking for him.  I wasn't sure which way he would go so I headed up forest road 404 and made the loop turning down Christmas Tree Trail and then back down the 61.  The only animal I saw was a turkey.  This is a 30 mile loop and it took me an hour.  I got back home at 10 a.m., and there was still no James.  Now I was really worried.  I texted the kids and told them to say a prayer that I would be able to find dad.  On my way out I called my neighbor Kathy and as I was talking to her on the phone, James came zipping up the road from the direction of Chocolate Lake.  I was so relieved that I couldn't even get mad at him.  Of course I had to remind him of the two rules he had broken.  If something would have happened to him I would have never found him because he went up Mount Montoso looking for elk antlers.  Someone closed a gate on him and he had to take a round about way home, which is why it took him so long.

When I am stressed or nervous I eat.  I did plenty of eating today.
James was gone again this afternoon from 2:30-4:30 visiting Anthony with his home teaching companion Dave.  We were able to watch this weeks episode of "When Calls the Heart."  Afterwards James left to have FHE with the Wilhelm's.  The lesson was on missionary work and James's companion Dave told about his mission to Scotland.

James is going to be gone for the next couple of days to the valley so I would have liked to spent more time with him today but I am grateful to have a husband who fulfills his priesthood assignments.

I was able to spend three hours working on my talk for Saturday on receiving personal revelation.  I also watched Dancing with the Stars Disney Night.

My favorites from tonight: Rashad and Emma, Normani and Val, and Simone and Sasha.

Congratulations to one of my young women,

Ascuncion, Paraguay temple

2 Nephi 12-13:5
What are things I tend to idolize in our exciting day?  What kind of idols did Isaiah see in verses 7 and 8?
Mosiah 29 - Alma 1:13
DC 29:23-33
What is meant by the first shall be last and the last shall be first?
v.32 - First spiritual, secondly temporal, which is the beginning of my work; and again, first temporal, and secondly spiritual, which is the last of my work.
GC:  'The Blessings of Worship' by Bishop Dean M. Davies
"When we worship God, we approach Him with reverent love, humility, and adoration.  We acknowledge and accept Him as our sovereign King, the Creator of the universe, our beloved and infinitely loving Father.  We respect and revere Him.  We submit ourselves to Him.  We lift our hearts in mighty prayer cherish His word, rejoice in His grace, and commit to follow Him with dedicated loyalty.  Worshiping God is such an essential element in the life of a disciple of Jesus Christ that if we fail to receive Him in our hearts, we will seek for Him in vain in our councils, churches and temples."

I read an article to day by one of my favorite authors, Larry Barkdull.  It was called: "Miracles Reveal the Character of God."

I also started reading "Isaiah for Airheads" by John Bytheway to help me get through the Isaiah chapters in 2 Nephi.  James and I left for town around 10, he in his truck and me in Lexy.  We dropped Lexy off at Discount Tire to get the tire fixed and to have the tires balanced.  We went to Mountain Thai for lunch.  The only thing we liked were the eggrolls. A friend had recommended it so we were very disappointed.  The food that we left mostly on our plate ended up costing us $36.  Not good.

We went back and picked up Lexy and I did some shopping at Walmart.  I stopped to get gas and James was there filling up the truck.

We had hotdogs for dinner, read from "Lady of the Lakes," and watched a Hallmark movie, "Love at a Glance."  The high was around 60 degrees today.

'With his strength depleted, as he grimly contemplated his fate, John silently cried unto God, telling Him that he had always kept the Word of Wisdom and had lived a clean life -

Happy 15th Birthday Anna!
Anna is sweet and kind and beautiful both inside and out!
I love her!

Summer and Anna

Anna is a very talented artist.

My new wifi cycle started on the 14th which means I have 30GB for 30 days.
I got a call from James this morning as he was picking up Adam to go to work.  I texted him both Book of Mormon reading assignments for the day.
I felt confused this morning and was having a difficult time focusing.  I said a prayer and felt much better.  One should always begin their day by putting the Lord first.

Or, that I am looking in the mirror.

Another day of Hallmark movies.  We had fog, rain, snow, and sunshine all within a few minutes of each other today.  It was one of those days.  No wonder I was confused.

We had a party on this night.

Saturday, May 14, 2016

It started out to be a beautiful morning.

It got even better when we went to the Snowflake
temple.
James and I attended the 8 am endowment session.  Our friend from our ward, Blain Curtis was the officiator of our session.  I was proud of James for going even though he could only whisper and could not hear very well.
After the session James left to go home.  I stayed and waited for our ward youth to come for baptisms.  I had to wait almost an hour so I sat in the chapel and read from the hymn book.

We had a small group today, only three young women: Shelly, Alice, and Hailey, and three young men: Ty, Jace, and Andy.  There were five priesthood leaders: Wes Smith, Bishop Miller, Kip Hunsaker, Jimmy Applegate, and Rick Lauritzen.  There are supposed to be seven so we were two short.  James had been ask to go but because he couldn't talk or hear, he declined.  There were three women leaders: Diana Curtis, Tamara Applegate, and myself.  I got to hand towels to the youth as they came out of the baptismal font.  I really do love these young women:
Alice, Hailey, and Shelly.
They are so cute and fun!

After the temple the entire group went to El Cupido's for lunch.  Even though it was lunch time, I had my breakfast burrito with bacon.  It was yummy!

Alice, Hailey, Diana Curtis and I rode home with the bishop.  It was so fun to get to visit with my friend Diana again.  We get along so well.
As we were coming in to Vernon I mentioned that I hadn't seen the antelope that usually graze in the field by the Vernon turn off for awhile.  Just as we came around the corner into Vernon, bishop pointed out a herd.

A quote from my first ebook,
"Amazed by Grace"
by Sheri Dew.

Before doing anything else I had to lay down and take a nap.  James joined me.  I also had to call Debbie Miller and have her ask Ed if he would teach Gospel Doctrine tomorrow because James has no voice.

My intention was to spend the rest of the day working on my Primary lesson, which I did for awhile until James came in and ask when we were going to watch our movie.  I just can't turn him down.  We watched the new Hallmark movie, "Tulips in Spring."

Lots going on in our family this weekend.  Alex and Tre, who was the prom queen at Chandler High, and also happens to be in Alex's seminary class, went to Mormon Prom together.
 Such a cute couple!
Emmy was in a soccer tournament.  All the other teams were boys.  They got 2nd place and Emmy plays defender and did really well.
Emmy's in the back row with the glasses on.

Jared and James went to their Fathers & Sons Outing.  Here are a few pictures that Jared sent me.
I remember that apple head guy from years past.
 Love that smile!
Is that smoke in the background?
Do they do prescribed burns?
 James sees something.

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

Well it's official, Jared and Tricia and their family are residents of El Paso, Texas.  They moved last week with help from the Barney's and the Wallen's with a few mishaps, such as a blowout on the van tire and no air conditioning when they arrived.  The kids and Tricia are enjoying going on hikes and then taking a swim afterwards.

I love this picture of Molly and Emmy

Kim brought some games with her when she came up and the kids especially loved the Headbands game.

I went to Young Women's this evening.  We worked on making a Personal Progress chart for all the Young Women and the leaders.  Afterwards we had a presidency meeting and I finally got to meet the other counselor, Joell Miller.  I am definitely the oldest in the group except for Brother Smith.  We discussed all the girls and a couple of them have some major issues.  This is going to be a challenge for me.
